  1. Thanks, that was the assumption I was going by. I could use the image to put the license key for W10 onto the new HDD, then do a clean install of W10. Perhaps I'm wrong about that, and could use the USB I downloaded to install W10 onto another computer to install W10 onto the new HDD??? I've been busy this past weekend removing the HDD from old laptops. Both are way too old to be useful, both are XP and over 15 yrs old. I have that kit coming that I may use to view contents, before drilling holes in them for destruction.
  2. Actually bottled water must meet the same standards as municipal drinking water. This document published by the FDA is very long and tedious reading, about a third of the way down is where the standards are published.
  3. Ones and zero's, when you leave either out you got a problem. Glad you got the solution.
  4. I goofed my the purchase date, DW informed me I bought the previous desktop in 2002, the present one was bought much later, it is an HP p6-2350 if you want to see the specs online.https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03531729 I bought a HDD transfer kit, will arrive Friday about the same time as the new HDD. I thought about W10 having corrupted stuff, I've made a USB to download W10 from that website you linked, or could I simply do a clean install if the old copy is corrupted? BTW, I'm no longer using the desktop JIC I need to use it for something like clone it, since that computer has room for 2 HDD's. Are you guys tiring of my amateur drivel yet? My 77 yr old brain doesn't work so good these days=outdated processor.
  5. Prices are available on individual state's websites, they are for my state anyway. That means you do some finger-work on the keyboard though.
  6. Right! You may legally sell almost anything, whether it is legal to use or not. Did you notice those are on 20# cylinders, they are/were legal for semi-permanent tanks. I have seen them on tanks at houses years ago, the LP supplier locked the valve for non-payment.
  7. When I ordered the new HDD from Amazon I made sure it could return it JIC I changed my mind and decided to buy a new computer or just use this laptop. The desktop is shut off, it's doing all manner of weird things when I attempt to do anything. I now suspect its HDD has been failing for about a year, because that's how long it has been flashing sub-menu's and other stuff while I was typing. Perhaps I should buy a lottery ticket. 🤣 I have both, a backup and a true image on a Seagate 1TB external drive, the image was created using Macroin(sp?) software. I also created a recovery stick to install W10 on the new HDD-If that's what I finally decide. This laptop was purchased in 2014, so now I'm wondering how long it has to live. I did buy the best I could get, with available information, when both were purchased, but as we know, the computer you buy today has already been superceded by engineers in the design dept.
  8. A new replacement Seagate is ordered. By online searching I think I have the process of getting an image of my old HD onto the new one, figured out. However I can always use guidance and advice.
  9. My computer was purchased in 2002. That drive diagnostic showed the HDD has been running for 18,xxx hrs. Thank you for the link that explains the sector process. I'll be ordering a new replacement Seagate 1Tb HDD, what happens after I install the new one, do I just start the computer, link to my WiFi and things happen automatically? Then I use my image created Saturday last to restore my data?
  10. 39'8" Oh, that doesn't include roof ladder.
  11. scotts said the ball valve will not close all the way,"seems like the spring got weak". I doubt greasing the gasket will remedy a weak spring. In my previous reply I my advice was wrong, the 300 is a throw-away unit, no way to repair/replace the ball valve or spring, only the gasket may be replaced. I was corrected on scotts irv2.com forum thread. I looked up the Dometic 300 on the net and confirmed the correct information.
  12. I've been searching for regulations I may freely copy N paste to no avail. I did however find this that further complicates the open access to LP cylinder valves discussion: https://www.amazon.com/propane-tank-valve-lock/s?k=propane+tank+valve+lock Of course that does not mean those devices are legal, just that they are available. That is from: https://www.laigroup.com/propane-tank-locks-security-valve-locks.php for unused cylinders.
  13. Thanks for the information. Tonight it began acting up again, shut down for a few minutes and it's back running normally. I just downloaded a UConnect update for DW's Jeep without any issues. I wondered if it was getting too hot so ran CrystalDiskInfo 8.2.0 and it said temp was 87°F, with 8 sector events. Also, highlighted in Yellow: Current Pending Sector Count Current Worst Threshold 100 100 0 Reallocation Event Count 100 100 36 I don't have a clue what that means???? The Windows 10 disc management said HDD was healthy.
  14. Can't, the 12V SLA battery died long ago. Analog phones will not work on the digital towers. Shoot, even the GM Onstar relay in my 2002 Dually stopped working, GM sent out a recall notice to have a dealer pull the fuse to deactivate it to prevent accidental battery run-down.
  15. I think this item will fit your need: https://www.amazon.com/RVLOCKBOX-Propane-Tank-Bracket-Thread/dp/B07FT8FVXP/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=propane+tank+lock+rv&qid=1563246326&s=gateway&sr=8-1
  16. You are right of course. I was trying to say RV's are not subject to commercial USDOT regulations as he mentioned a delivery truck.
  17. Good point Carlos, we still have DW's old bag phone from AT&T, it's only use is a paperweight or museum piece.
  18. The locked trunk is not legal, however I've never read or heard of anyone being ticketed. Big5er, the NFPA standards are entered into the Federal Register each year, in effect making them federal laws.
  19. Lets back up. We were discussing locking an RV compartment containing an LP tank. That is covered by USDOT rules that state LP tank compartment may not be locked. The same holds true for the LP tank delivery truck. This is also why it is illegal to haul a used LP tank in a car trunk. The storage racks in front of stores are not covered by USDOT, they are covered by state and local regulations -which usually do not address moving vehicles. Edit: the correct term is cylinders, permanent ASME tanks fall under that regulation too though.
  20. Well guys, I panicked too early. I took my HDD to Office Depot and had them check it on their test machine. The man said the HDD was good, likely the user files were corrupted. I came home re-installed it in my desktop, plugged everything back in, turned it on and viola, it works normally-for now. I'm wondering if a Microsoft update was trying to install when it froze up??? The problem may never be known unless it happens again. Thanks for the support and advice everyone!
