  1. The fee for Escapees is only $39 a year and you get access to about a dozen Rainbow Parks and another dozen Co-Op parks with very low rates, average $25 a night or $450 a month. Plus all the other benefits of membership, like as mentioned, a great mail forwarding service which allows you to choose TX, FL, or SD as your domicile. Unfortunately, most of the parks are in the south part of the US. Passport America is also good, however there are many restrictions such as no weekends or holidays, 3 day limit and then you pay full fee etc. You can purchase a National Park Pass to save also. If you are a senior a National Parks, Forest Service, COE etc. lifetime pass is $80 and gets you in the park for free and most campgrounds at 50% off. Most, however do not have full hookup and have a 14 day max stay limit. Good Sam Club has many campgrounds that give you a 10% discount on the daily rate, but if you stay weekly or monthly you get a discount without the GS membership and it is a lot less than the daily rate. I have found that I prefer to stay weekly or monthly and get the discounted rate. When traveling between locations I usually stay for free by boondocking at rest stops along the interstate. I volunteer a lot in National Parks and get to stay a month or two at FHU sites for free in exchange for 3 or 4 days of volunteering. In the winter I head south and either stay at an Escapees Park or pay monthly at a private campground.
  2. I wonder if it would work as a black tank as well? Get 2, one for fresh water one for black tank. Would just have to figure out a way to pump it out without making a mess!!!
  3. Thanks Joe. I did check with another Loves location and was told the same thing. They will do the labor but don’t stock the park. You would think that a semi truck place would have the part!
  4. You need to establish a TX domicle first. Get an address in TX, and a TX drivers license. It should only take a few days, you may have to go to Livingston in person, not sure. When I purchased my Class A in Phoenix I already had an Escapees So Dakota address. The dealer gave me a temporary AZ registration, good for 60 days. Don’t recall if there was a fee but if there was it was only a few dollars. They had to drive the rig to Needles CA where I took delivery. They drove me to Needles, and had a notary waiting. I called So Dakota and got the amount for sales tax and registration and mailed in a check with all the supporting documents. So Dakota mailed me back the plates to the camp ground I was staying at in AZ. Same thing when I bought my Jeep in ID. The dealer in ID, however insisted that they mail the sales tax to So Dakota, but I did not have to cross State lines to take delivery, I just drove off the dealers lot, with my So Dakota plate from my vehicle I trader in, per So Dakota’s instructions.
  5. A lot depends on where you want to stay and for how long. Short term stays, serval days to a week or two normally do not need reservations. Long term stays of a month or more may require a reservation. Escapees parks can get full fast. The two in FL, (Bushnell and Wauchula), are usually full. Wauchula begins taking reservations for the winter season in May. TheEscapees Co-Op in AZ at Benson AZ does not even take reservations. You just go there and if nothing is available you can stay in the boondocking area for a few days hoping something comes available. Most private parks in the popular areas, CA, AZ, TX, AL, FL will require a reservation if you want to stay for the winter season, but usually you don’t need to reserve until mid summer, June, July. Same with State parks, but most State parks have a 14 day max stay and you have to move to another park which requires several reservations.
  6. Thanks Dutch. I do have a truck tire pressure gage. The problem is that when I need to check or add add air I have to remove the TST monitor and it is difficult for me to do on the two inside dullys. And yes Kirk, when I hade new tires put on, at a semi truck tire shop, I asked them to put longer stems on but they were out of stock, so I am trying to do it now. Loves said they would do the labor but they need me to bring them the stems.
  7. Thanks, but as I said in my post, I don’t want to use extenders. I want to use a longer valve stem.
  8. I never bought a toll pass, I travel mostly in the west, until this year when I went to FL for the winter season. It cost only $19.99 plus the tolls. I can’t see spending $95 on this one. That sounds a little expensive to me.
  9. I have a hard time airing up my inside dullys. I have a Class A on a Freightliner chassis with 22.5 tires. Was considering putting extenders on but don’t really want to add a place where they can leak air. Looking into longer valve stems. Loves tire shop said they can add longer valve stems for $40 each side but I have to provide the stems. Anyone have any recommendations for purchasing long valve stems for an inside dully tire, online or store front? Thanks in advance.
  10. Try going in person to a local Post Office where you are at. They may have the form you need and be able to send it to your Post Office back home.
  11. The homestead exemption in most States requires that you occupy the residence. However the exemption applies to liens against the property. If you have enough insurance you should not have to worry unless the judgement is more than the value of the property. Any rental income received will be taxed but if you have a mortgage the entire payment, principal, interest and any impounds for property tax and insurance is deductible as well as depreciation which offsets most of not all of the taxable income. If you hire a property manager, the management fee is also deducted from the rental income. If you have a HOA, it is also deducted from the rental income. Capital Gains upon sale is different from income tax. In order to defer Capital Gain tax you must have lived in the property for 3 out of the last 5 years. You can move back in for 3 years and then re-qualify. All depreciation will be recaptured upon sale, as an adjustment to your basis. Alternatively, if you decide to sell but buy another rental you can do a 1031 Tax Free (actually deferred) Exchange. With appreciation you should come out ahead of the game. Rental property is a good investment, with the help of a property manager. You definitely need to consult with a Tax Lawyer or CPA taking into account your personal situation.
  12. Sorry chirakiwa, I was only speaking about South Dakota, not the USA, but I have never seen a Geico office anywhere in my travels like I have seen State Farm, Farmers or Allstate offices. They may exist, I just have never seen one. Didn’t mean to argue with you. This forum is a great place and there is no room for negativity. And yes Danaandfreda i ment to say captive not captured, Im just used to dealing with clients who are in custody, lol lol lol.
  13. Yes I am a lawyer and was a Judge Pro Tem who has been trained to read the small print. Anyone who sells insurance is an agent of the insurance company. Many are independent contractors. Geico agents are captured agents who only sell Geico insurance and are really Customer Service Advisors. No broker can sell Geico Insurance.
  14. Yum. Your hired as my personal chef, lol lol lol
  15. Not sure what I have. I think they are the 507. I got the flow thru sensors. Have the non flow thru on the Jeep. I don’t like the flow thru. Take too long to air up. I have to remove the sensors to air up.
  16. Oppps, I made a mistake. Hook up a coax cable from the cable box to the coax on the TV. Use an HDMI cable from the sat box to a HDMI imput on the TV.
  17. I would use the road side to connect your sat, which uses the coax for power, and the curb side for cable. Hook up the cable from the road side to your sat receiver, the 211. Hook up the coax from the curb side to your cable box. Run an HDMI cable from the sat box to a HDMI slot on your TV. Hook up a coax cable from your 211 to the coax connector on your TV. When you want to watch sat, go on the menu/imput setting on your TV and choose HDMI as the imput. When you want to watch cable, choose cable as the imput. In theory this should work. No A/B switch is required because you TV is switching from one imput to another. Of course this assumes that the cable connector on the curb side goes to the inside of your RV and dies not just go to the outside TV.
  18. Did you bother to read your own link. There are no Geico agents in South Dakota.
  19. Geico does not have outside agents. You have to call them and a customer service rep aka agent for Geico will answer. They say that their premiums are lower because they don’t have to pay commissions. All of their customer service reps/in house agents are on a salary.
  20. I am a full timer with a So Dakota domicle and State Farm told me that they don’t write full time policies in my State. I went with Geico on my Class A, Jeep, Harley and a umbrella policy. Geico does not have agents, you have to call them direct.
  21. Many people use Bank of the West or Essex. I went with Bank of the Ozarks. Got a good rate with them but I put a lot down.
  22. I have to renew i a week. I am currently with FMCA thru SafeRide. I paid $74, it had just gone up from $69, and my renewal rate is $159. Escapees is still only at $99 but I am afraid SafeRide will raise the Escapees price by next years renewal. Coach Net is $249 for the first year but only $169 to renew, just $10 more than FMCA, and who knows what price next year for Escapees. Looks like I will have to go with Coach Net. Escapees needs to confront SafeRide with a bait and switch on price and services.
  23. My RA with SafeRide thru FMCA (I paid $74, it had just gone up from $69) is about to expire and my renewal is $159. I was considering switching over the the Escapees plan for $99 but am afraid it will go up soon too. Looks like SafeRide gets you in for a low fee and them raises the fee at renewal. Not liking the above review by daveandmary either. Called Coach Net and may switch to them. It is more, $249 first year but renewal is only $169, not much more my than SafeRide renewal with FMCA.
  24. I have seen adds on TV about Capital One being an online bank. Don’t use them but may look into them in the near future.
  25. Barb, not sure what school he went to. He was living in Thousand Oaks CA, near Los Angeles. He is licensed in CA and now Idaho too where he works for a city water department. There are several levels of license. He is level 3, I think out of 4 not sure, and his license is higher than his boss. He worked for the Fed Gov’t before in a National Park.
