  1. Thanks Kirk. Interesting article. With the growth of membership and many of us reaching an older age (and for us full timers experiencing this pandemic with no place to go) it may be the right time for Escapees to think about creating some new Co-Ops opportunities.
  2. Just replaced my SleepNumber with a memory foam mattress from MattressInsiders.com. They specialize in RV and Boat mattresses. They will custom make one for you if you want a special size.
  3. Dish does have a Pay As You Go plan that you can turn on and off as you need, with NO CONTRACT. You can get a portable Tailgater auto sat dish for very little money. As an alternative you can get the Pathway X2 auto sat dish that has a bigger dome but it’s about $450. Both will run on a 211Z receiver which is about $100. Dish has many plans from $29 to $99 per month. Both will get you HD and SD. You don’t need WiFi or a cell signal so they work practically anywhere.
  4. Well Ray, now we know you are a human and not a computer bot, lol lol lol.
  5. I have stayed at the Co-Op in Benson AZ several times. They do have a tour, however I have never taken it and it is not mandatory. I’m about to put my name on their waiting list. I lived in San Diego, just down the road from Jojoba, for 35 years and know the area well. I did visit once for a day to check it out although I have never been able to get a site to stay. I found Jojoba to be the most unfriendly park in the Escapees system. I have stayed in almost every Escapees Park and Co-Op and all were very friendly, except Jojoba.
  6. I have never purchased anything in Canada but if you intend to use and store your RV in the USA I think it may be easier to just make your purchase in the States. I’m just guessing.
  7. I have switched over from using the Post Office to using FedEx. Escapees has a special rate that is only about $1.00 more than using USPS Priority Mail. I always get a tracking number and the package arrives in about three days and is delivered right to my site not the Campground office.
  8. With the Escapees club growing in membership it may be time to begin thinking about adding more parks and co-ops to the system. It is getting more difficult to make a reservation with the limited number of sites now available especially in the co-ops.
  9. I think that was my ex girlfriend driving. She did have a CDL. 🤪
  10. That’s what we call a very expensive service appointment, lol.
  11. I never said I have a right to live in a State Park. I almost never go to State Parks because they do not have full hook up. I just said that for a full timer RVing is not a recreational activity. Finding a place to stay is essential. Thank goodness I am a member of Escapees and can stay in one of their parks.
  12. I am a full timer and was going to volunteer in 3 different National Parks this summer so I had no reservations anywhere. All 3 have canceled on me. I left FL at the end of March and spent most of April in GA. Left GA 3 days ago and am now at the Escapees RV campground in Hollister MO. Will be here for May and maybe June. Trying to get to Omaha NE to be near my son and grandkids but all State parks in NE are closed and all private parks are full. I have self quarantined for most of March and all of April. Will be practicing social distancing here in MO too.
  13. When I purchased my first RV I was living in CA and making the purchase in TX. The dealer called CA DMV to get the amount of tax and registration fees. The tax and fees quoted were collected by the dealer and I was given a 60 temp registration from TX. When I returned to CA I had to go to DMV where the Vin was verified and I was given my plates. When I purchased my tow vehicle I was a member of Escapees and using the SD address as my domicle. I purchased the vehicle in ID. The dealer in ID also called the DMV in SD and collected the tax and registration fee. SD advised me to remove the plates from my trade, a F-350 and attach them to my Jeep. When I purchased my Class A in AZ the dealer drove the vehicle to the border of CA where I took delivery and I mailed the tax and registration fees to SD myself. SD them mailed me my plates. The dealer in AZ told me if I took delivery in AZ I would have to pay AZ sales tax
  14. For a full timer RVing is not a recreational activity.
  15. If what you ordered is coming from China it could take longer, weeks not days.
  16. I have never has DirecTv DNS in the 3 years I have been with them. I am a full timer and move a lot. I just call them, give them my location and have my locals changed. Sometimes it’s easy, sometimes it takes some explaining to the CSR that I am in a motorhome.
  17. I had 3 different locations in National Parks set up for this summer. All 3 have canceled on me. I am a full timer without a physical residence so now I am scrambling to find a camp ground to stay in for the summer.
  18. I am a full timer. Every time I move to a different location I have to call DirecTv to change my local stations. All the other channels remain the same.
  19. I do not get a tax refund but do get Social Security direct deposit. I checked online and the IRS site said a check was mailed to me on April 24th. My address on my return is the Escapees mail forwarding address in Livingston. Hope the check is in the mail!
  20. I-80 and I-25 are major routes used by semis every day. I have driven both in my Fifth Wheel and Class A and never experienced any problems. I use a Garmin GPS and program in the height on my RV to avoid low passes.
  21. The EFS app will show you all the locations on your route that accept the TSD card and the discounted price. Not sure if the 10% fee is factored in or just the price per gallon but the fee is very small so it doesn’t really factor in when comparing prices at other stations.
  22. Arizona RV Salvage in Phoenix may have what you want.
  23. Im not criticizing the police. Im just saying that there is no law that you have to cooperate with a police investigation. In fact we have a 5th Amendment right to remain silent and not answer any questions and in most places we do not have to show any id, unless we are driving. If he wasn't under arrest or being detained he had a right to leave. I wasn't there so I'm sure this person caused such a scene that it rose to the level of probable cause to make contact with him. The police did what they are supposed to do. The moment he fled in his car he created the situation for the stop because he was not acting like a reasonable person.
  24. I believe that all State Parks I'm WI are closed. As to private parks, many areas are open but some are closed. Manatoic (not sure if I spelled that correct?) county private camp grounds are closed. It is being left up to each county to decide.
