  1. Howdy! I’ve been using a Reece Goose Box to tow my Cyclone 4000 but I don’t tow it with a HDT. Check out the FaceBook group “GooseBox owners group”. They have a lot of followers and may provide you with useful information. I’ve been using the GB 20,000 lb for a year and would not go back to a 5er hitch. ” Happy Trails “ Chiefneon
  2. Howdy! We’ve owned a Airstream and liked it very much. But found out it did not do well in extreme heat and cold. If I were in the market for a fulltime travel trailer I would be looking at Articfox like suggested above.they are good quality four season RV. ” Happy Trails” Chiefneon
  3. Howdy! Kirk, CN has answered the call for service each and every time I have requested it. Once on the Smart Car when we had a tire failure (Smart Cars don’t have spare tires). CN sent out a tow truck and carried the Smart Car the a tire dealership of our request. Once in Newfoundland our MDT 4400 International failed to start. CN sent out a tow truck with trailer. The only question was where we wanted them to take it. Our 5er RV was not involved in either one of the request involving CN service. We do have the Premium (use to be call the Platinum Plus plan). Their website states “Coverage includes Member, spouse and dependent children ages 24 and under, and all other personal vehicles owned, rented, borrowed or leased“. ” Happy Trails “ Chiefneon
  4. Howdy! I wanted to use Escapees roadside services when it came out but got the same reply and it seems to continue. So I keep renewing with Coach Net. CN covers every vehicle and trailer I drive or tow. Blew the turbo on our truck in Alaska. CN sent two tow vehicles. One for the truck one for the 5er. Only question asked was where we wanted them to tow them to. CN may cost more but I have always received great service which I paid for. ” Happy Trails “ Chiefneon
  5. Howdy! My lovey wife decided she wanted a new truck last year after having one problem after another on our trip to Alaska and back. When I started looking at them I didn’t even consider a factory pickup bed. I went back to 2L customs and got a deal couldn’t turn down on a new Chevrolet 3500 LTZ 2L custom hauler loaded up. Only one thing that matter and that was my LW was happy with the new truck. ” Happy Trails “ Chiefneon
  6. Howdy! Mark, before I ETSed out of the military over 48 years ago my Chief Warrant Officer sent me to sick call stating I had a hearing problem and to go get tested. Back then the only thing done was a hearing test to confirm yes I did have a hearing loss problem. For those Escapees in or near Livingston I was lucky enough to be directed to contact the Polk County Veterans Assistant Melissa Gates. She is a wonderful person to work with. She obtained all the records needed, filed all necessary paper work for my VA claim. I was stonewalled for a few years during the last administration which they denied my claim. But Melissa continued to in courage me and file appeals, stating they only want you to give up. It turned out it was true. The first week of the now administration my claim was approved and I not only received my rating and now VA benefits but also received back pay from the day I file the claim. So for those Escapees in need of this type of Veterans assistance or other types she is a great person to work with. 7. Howdy! My hear lost was very significant at the end of my military service and that where I started. I did’nt apply for my VA Benifits until years after leaving the military service. When my employer healthcare stopped providing them and I was told my hearing aids would cost over $8,000.00 which I declined. I was told by a friend to apply to the VA. At first I was given a service connected rating of 10% for hearing lost. That was later raised to 20% for hearing lost and tinnitus. Along with that with a service connected rating I receive my hearing aid which are some of the best I’ve ever had, healthcare and low cost prescription drugs. I use the VA for all healthcare needs which I find better than my previous employer provided or Medicare.
  8. Howdy! We stayed at Buffalo Crossing RV Resort in West Yellowstone our last visit to Yellowstone NP. Nice clean park with pull through FHU sites. Walking distance to places to see and eat out a in the town of West Yellowstone. You will need to make reservations as far in advance as you can (now) to be able to stay anywhere to visit any NP in July. ” Happy Trails “ Chiefneon
  9. Howdy! One of the biggest problems I saw before I retired was sick people coming to work, sending sick children to school and even workers bringing sick children to work because the the school had sent them home. I’m sure is still happening because my grandchildren sick every year. ” Happy Trails “ Chiefneon
  10. Howdy! When it starts warming up in Texas the talk around the Escapees in Livingston is where to go for cooler temperatures. The closest place is Cloud Croft, New Mexico. ”Happy Trails” Chiefneon
  11. Howdy! The one thing that the people at Winegard support advised me not to do is not to use a e-mail that I had used in the past to set up the account if I ever had a AT&T or DirecTV account. I did use a e-mail as advised and was able to set up yearly data account without problems. ” Happy Trails” Chiefneon
  12. Howdy! The mail center at the Escapees recently changed there hours. You can now pick up you mail at the Escapees mail center from 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday Thur Friday. ” Happy Trails “ Chiefneon
  13. Howdy! Advantage Plans don’t like to you to use out-of-network. I know when I asked about the one my previous employer provided they flat out advised me if I did use it they would cancel. “Happy Trails” Chiefneon
  14. Howdy! About the only place your going to find between the two to boondock is a casino and it want be desolate. Good news is you’ll have good internet connections. ” Happy Trails “ Chiefneon
  15. Howdy! We have a Smart Car that we load into our Cyclone 4000. I have loaded it when w e hooked up and not hooked up. When loading not hooked up, I have the jacks down. ” Happy Trails “ Chiefneon
  16. Howdy! I’ve tried all of the above and none of them worked. What I do know that works is a good trap. I get them from Tractor Supply the ones in the link below. https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/tomcat-rat-snap-trap-pack-of-1?solr=1&cm_vc=-10005 “Happy Trails” Chiefneon
  17. Howdy! I purchased the Scout list below. https://www.traegergrills.com/pellet-grills/portable-series/scout-pellet-grill ” Happy Trails “ Chiefneon
  18. Howdy! I purchased a Traeger portable pellet smoker at Costco a couple of years ago easy to store in the 5er and cooks great. I looked at the Davey Crocket but like the Traeger as it was smaller and easier to store as mentioned. ” Happy Trails “ Chiefneon
  19. Howdy! I would like to now how the ToGo is working out. I know Jack mentioned he had the AT&T Homebase unit before which I have. AT&T homebase is not unlimited data so I would consider getting this new ToGo if it is improved over that and the unlimited data would be a nice addition. Especially if I could get a Blackfriday deal on a ToGo. ” Happy Trails “ Chiefneon
  20. Howdy! I recently ordered a Pepwave MaxBR1 Mini Cat 6 and MobileMark LTM 4-1 antenna for 3G/4G/LTE, GPS, WiFi. I’ve read and researched along with other post there and on other forums regarding this subject and decided to make the investment. We fulltime in a 5er so I ordered the antenna with 16’ length cables instead of the short 3’ do to installation in our 5er. I completed the installation antenna mounted on top of the AC unit as others recommended. I have two cellular connection. One is AT&T homebase WiFi unit and the other is Verizon Prepaid unlimited. We are at this time located at our homebase at the Escapees in Livingston, Texas so AT&T has a weak 4G to LTE signal and at times nothing here. Verizon has a very good signal. I installed the Verizon sims card into the main slims card slot and the AT&T into the secondary. I had no connection with AT&T and very slow speeds with the Verizon. I’ve contacted 5G support and have gone through several steps with them attempting to solve the problems by locking out the AT&T sims and only using Verizon and only using band 4 and 13 with Verizon. At this time I get better speeds by using my Verizon in my WiFi 7730L than I do in the Pepwave. To say the least I’m a little more than disappointed with the system at this time. No planning on moving anything soon to test it in other locations. I really want this to work but 5G support advised that the problem is more than likely do to the tower being congested. If that’s the case why do I not have the same problems when I install the sims back into my WiFi 7730L? ” Happy Trails” Chiefneon
  21. Howdy! When I have had tread separation problems with Goodyear tires GY has paid for any damage and replacement of any and all tires. Contact at GY claims. They will want the tire sent to them for inspection. Any GY dealership can do this but I like dealing with GY commercial tire dealer Wingfoot. I’ve had several claims with GY tires under warranty and they have always paid. ” Happy Trails” Chiefneon
  22. Howdy! I get my state inspections done at “Trailer Repair & Maintance” Kyle Thompson owns the place. He’s inspected my 4400 International MDT hauler, 44’ 5er and Smart Car. He’s also done the brake and bearing maintenance on my 5er. He is located just down the road from the Escapees park on FM 1988. He has plenty of room to turn around when you enter. 24. Howdy! Most on this post seem to think this was do to boondocking in at isolated unsecured location. You need to be aware of your surroundings at all times these days. The last incident I recall this happening to RVers was a few years ago and as I recall they were taken from a rest stop and murdered elsewhere. Situational awareness is imperative for everyone’s personal safety. ”Happy Trails” Chiefneon
