  1. Howdy! Docj. I’ve been watching that, but we’ll stay with them as long as it last. My lovely wife is a AT&T retiree and we get a discount. Hope they offer they same when then roll out the new streaming service. ” Happy Trails “ Chiefneon
  2. Howdy! Big5er, We’re streaming using DirecTV Now and it does I believe have the channels your looking for. We have local Houston Chanel’s when we are at our homebase in Livingston. We are in Florida now and noticed that the local channels have switched to the local channels here. We watch very little local channels. I do tune in to Fox News but most of the viewing is watching movies are tv series. DirecTV Now also offers HBO Cinemax, Showtime and STARZ. We become accustomed to watching a hole series without having to wait until next week to see what happen. We also use Netflix’s and AmazonPrime. We gave up satellite over a year ago and have been streaming ever since. https://www.directvnow.com/?source=EaYEPS048qmBRD17P&WT.srch=1&wtExtndSource=directv+now&gclsrc=aw.ds&&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI7t6Gk47-4gIV8ZFbCh3OVgCNEAAYASABEgKK0_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds ” Happy Trails “ Chiefneon
  3. Howdy! I don’t know what a “power inserter” is. My G2 came with a single coax cord that plugs into the G2 and then into a 12 volt cigarette lighter type source. I used a 12 volt converter to power ours when setting up. Once satellite sign was established it unplugged and put the cord away. Winegard should be able to supple you with the needed power cord. ” Happy Trails “ Chiefneon
  4. Howdy! I’m of the mind “if I don’t ask, I want get it”. So I always ask if they give discounts for military veterans or law enforcement. ” Happy Trails “ Chiefneon
  5. Howdy! Depending on what part of the country your in for boondocking. For us when we boondock we like the weather to be comfortable enough to sleep at night. We don’t run a generator to use AC during the night. “Happy Trails” Chiefneon
  6. Howdy! I used Co-pilot truck on my android tablet and iPad. ” Happy Trails “ Chiefneon
  7. Howdy! We used our AT&T unlimited plus plan last year traveling through Canada to Alaska. It worked out great other than remote areas in the Yukon. AT&T also out preformed out Verizon MiFi traveling in Alaska. ” Happy Trails “ Chiefneon
  8. Howdy! I put locking fuel caps on my truck. They not only help to prevent theft but down right meanness. I had a RV friend tell me about fuel tanks tanks he had worked on at his shop that someone had put in rags, cups, paper etc ... this is just down right meanness I don’t want to have to deal with. ” Happy Trails “ Chiefneon
  9. Howdy! I do use it to boost my MiFi devices but also use it to boost our cellular phone to make and receive calls. That why I like the Maximum Signal. My antenna inside my 44’ toy hauler is located in the sealing in the living room mid RV. When the Maximum Signal works it boost the Signal throughout the RV. ” Happy Trails “ Chiefneon
  10. Howdy! We are using Maximum Signal now but considering switching to a WeBoost. Could you explain what you meam by “the phone/broadband device must be quite close to the inside antenna”? With the Maximum Signal when it works boosted the signal within our 44’ Toy Hauler and even some signal out side. I would just like to know the restraints of how close you need to been to the WeBoost for usable quality. ” Happy Trails “ Chiefneon
  11. Howdy! One of the best things I did last year on our trip to Alaska was join a FaceBook ground “RVing to Alaska 2018”. The FB Group was very informative and helped each other along the way. I unstand they have already started the “RVing to Alaska 2019” group which is active now. It’s well worth it and the only cost is purchase a decal for your RV if you want to be identified to others in the group. ” Happy Trails” Chiefneon
  12. Howdy! We have been using the Maximum Signal for about three years. Worked great when we got the bugs worked out with the help from the owner Gord. But these days it’s doesn’t seem to be working now. We are now using the WeBoost Sleek to boost our MiFi. If I was buying today I would purchase the WeBoost RV 65 system as it has the ability to reach out for a better signal in those area where you have the lease signal. https://www.weboost.com/products/connect-rv-65 ”Happy Trails” Chiefneon
  13. Howdy! We had CN for years after dumping GS ERS. CN has towed our MDT twice once in Newfoundland and just this year in Alaska. Only question asked by the tow company was where you want us to take it. This year they sent out two tow trucks, one for our MDT and anotherto tow our 44’ 5er to a compground. “Happy Trails” Chiefneon
  14. Howdy! I was told that I new sims card to activate the new prepaid plan. When it didn’t come in the mail today I contact Verizon and they activated the old sims car in my 7730L. The next problem was when I pulled up my account I found the following information regarding the new plan. Data UNLIMITED1 Full HD Streaming (720p)2 1 Once high-speed data allowance is used, you will have 2G speeds for the remainder of the month. Your data experience and functionality of some data applications, such as streaming video or audio, may be impacted unless you purchase additional data. 2 HD-quality streaming (up to 780p) on devices connected to Jetpacks. In times of congestion, your data may be temporarily slower than other traffic. You must have sufficient account balance at time of renewal to cover the Monthly Access to use the service. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I contacted them via online chart and they assured me it was the plan 28366 unlimited no throttling with 1080p streaming. Has anyone else with this new plan had this problem viewing your account and it not reflecting the correct plan information? ” Happy Trails “ Chiefneon
  15. Howdy! I contacted Verizon today and switched our postpaid MiFI hotspot to the new Unlimited predaid Account. I thought it went smoothly until I tried to use the Jetpacks and it was still slow as we have used up our allotted unlimited data for the month on our postpaid plan. Another call back and they straightened it out and sending out a new sims card on Tuesday. So just a word to the wise it might be easier to go into a Verizon store to get it done even if you have to educate them about it. ” Happy Trails “ Chiefneon
  16. Howdy! Cherie, we have a FMCA unlimited Verizon Account now which after 25gbs is unusable. I was planning on dumping the account after contract runs out anyway. Now I am considering buying out the contract and get the new unlimited plan if it is truly unlimited. We use a lot of data each month in excess of 170gbs as we stream everything now after giving up satellite. We have AT&T unlimited plus that works we but we are in Livingston, Tx at our homebase and Verizon works much better here. I would like to know how the new plan is working after you’ve ran up some considerable amount of data. Also we have a 7730L hotspot but do you recommend the new 8800L over it? Thanks. ” Happy Trails “ Chiefneon
  17. Howdy! My lovely wife and I both retired early. As a LEO I was able to retire at 55 and get to my retirement and saving without penalties, my wife was 51 and actually retired before me. We have no regrets retiring early and starting our fulltime life. I had a very close friend that retired one year before me and less than a year after he retired died of a heart attack. “Happy Trails” Chiefneon
  18. Howdy! Well it seems the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing over at Saferride or Escapees Roadside Assistance. I called today to signup for the new Escapees RSA as my CN will expire the 15 of May. I advised the lady there had been some confusion earlier regarding my MDT but had been in formed over the Escapees Forum that my MDT was covered if it did not have a sleeping quarters. She stated that if my MDT required a heavy duty tow truck to tow it I would have to have two separate policies one for the MDT and one for the 5er RV. I would love to support the Escapees I’m a Lifetime member but this is rediculious and I guess I stick with Coach Net. ” Happy Trails’ Chiefneon
  19. Howdy! If your referring to securing to Smart Car inside a Toy Hauler I do the same as Dave. One ratchet strap through the front tires and one through the rear tires. Both are secured with the D rings on the TH floor. Been hauling it that way for four years no problems. ” Happy Trails” Chiefneon
  20. Howdy! One of the things during my research recently was that FMCA roadside service is cheaper than what Escapees is offering. FMCA plan regarding winchout Service if you stuck is only good at one of there Rallies. I don’t think that’s the same with the Escapees plan. I’ve use the winchout service on a couple of occasions. I even got stuck in a ditch in front of out house before fulltiming. It can be costs as we have a MDT and large 5er. Since the question has been answered about my MDT that it will be covered with the Escapees plan, looks like we will switch to it when our Coach Net plan runs out in May. ” Happy Trails” Chiefneon
  21. Howdy! In 2009 on the way to Alaska we had a breakdown in the Yukon and had no phone service. A RCMP mounts showed up and called a tow service on his radio (only communication available). The tow service towed us to Beaver Creek Yukon. On arrival I used their phone to call GS ERS. I advised them of the situation. They told me that they would not pay for the tow as I had not called to get authorization. I explained do to the location this was the first phone I was able to use and also I had been tow via RCMP mounty. They still refused. Next I informed them That repairs could not be made where I was towed to and I had been told the nearest repair center would be in Anchorage, AK. They still refused to pay for the tow to me to Anchorage for repairs staying I had been towed to a repair center. Problem was I had been towed to a junk yard. So the two tows cost me $2,000.00. I counseled my coverage then and there and asked for a refund on my remaining as I pay three years at a time. I called CN purchased a platinum plus plan and have great service with them since. GS called me years later after I posted several times on their forum of the detail above. I actually got a call from Marcus. He wanted to know what he could due to make things right. Of corse I stated reimburse me $2,000.00. Seeing that I no longer had recites years later he gave me a life membership. I still will not go back to GS ERS. ” Happy Trails” Chiefneon
  22. Howdy! Sorry, yes the Coach Net Platinum plus covers all 5er, Air Stream TT, Smart Car, MDT, Majesty Scooter, anything I own or rent also. Thanks I will correct. ’” Happy Trails” Chiefneon
  23. Howdy! Just wanted to share this for Escapees with MDT or HDT tow vehicles. I had questions regarding the new Escapees roadside assistance program, one being on the Escapees website they state “You get roadside assistance that is available any time, almost anywhere, as often as you need it. Escapees Roadside Assistance customers have uncapped access to SafeRide’s resources, unlike our competitors. “Almost anywhere did not give me a warm and fuzzy felling. So I call the Escapees and they referred me to the company handling the service at 888-803-3075. When I called that number I got a voice mail to leave a message and phone and someone would call me back in one business day. Again not a good feeling. Someone did return my call that day. I asked about the “almost anywhere”. She stated they were just like all the other roadside assistance programs regarding the service available in the area you where in having problems. My next question was would they cover my MDT and also if they would cover HDT as there are a lot of Escapees that use these for tow vehicle. She first stated they would cover my MDT but would have to check on the HDT and get back with me. I received another call later that evening. She stated after checking further that the to cover my MDT I would have to purchase two policies, one for the MDT and one for my RV (5er). The same would hold true for any Escapees having a HDT they would have to purchase two policies. That being said I will retain my service with Coach Net I’ve been with them since 2009 and have a Platinum plus coverage that coast $119.00 a year that covers alll my RV’s and vehicle including my MDT. “Happy Trails” Chiefneon
  24. Howdy! This is the first I’ve heard about Escapees road side service. We have had both Good Sam ERS and now Coach Net. GS ERS stiffed me for a $2,000.00 towing bill on a trip to Alaska. I drop them and now have CN. They have given us great service even towed our MDT in Newfoundland no problems. Only question CN asked is where we wanted it towed to. We will be renewing ours soon have no problems going with Escapees just want to know we we’ll receive good service after the problems we had with GS ERS. I look at the Escapees programs which is $99.00 a year. To renew my CN it has gone up to $129.00 or $387.00 for three years which is what I usually do. I will have to do so more research but the Escapees like others I have a MDT and CN is the only one that has not had a problem with it or HDT. ” Happy Trails” Chiefneon
  25. Howdy! I would go with three 8,000# axles and Goodyear 17.5 rims and tires. "Happy Trails" Chiefneon
