  1. dennisrv, what 2gypsies( and no offense to 2gypsies) said was true a couple of years ago. But they have done quite a bit of trimming. We have a 40' fiver and crew cab dually and have no problem. There is a few dry site we can't get in due to size. But there are many, and numerous good solar sites.
  2. Emailed ours in April 19. Got the email today (Wed) from DirecTV that we are good to go. We will see, although our service with them is fairly straight forward. One box, no high def. We rarely talk to them.
  3. As Lou said, do watch the railroad tracks, they have "improved" the xing but still leaves a lot to be desired. And by all means Do Not Buy fuel or gas in Needles! We should be thru tht way in the next couple of days ourselves. Have safe travels.
  4. On Saturday May 11, one day only, Sam's is selling their Duracell GC2 6 volt batteries for $20.00 off. Here in Yuma, AZ. they are regularly $89.99, so that takes the sale price down to $69.99. One thing to remember, some Sam's do not stock Golf Cart Batteries. I'm not hooked up with Sam's, just saw the sale deal.
  5. Cheryl, in the Yuma area there are many places with amenities that are well below your figure. And if you don't want amenities in the parks there are parks even less. Also, there RV lots out here in the Foothills, on the east side of Yuma, that are privately owned that go for $275 - $400. This is our 15th winter in Yuma. There isn't a security problem here. I was just down to Mexico this AM for an adjustment to my temporary dental plate.
  6. We have the old system, both coasts, DNS. I personally thought maybe since the AT&T takeover and folks calling the FCC filing complaints, Direct figured maybe they better get their house in order in case of an audit or if the Feds started nosing around. We very rarely even have contact with them. I believe the last time was 3 years ago when our box went belly up in Island Park, ID.
  7. We have friends who have full timed in an Artic Fox for about 5 years. A few small problems but nothing major. A huge improvement over the Elite Suites that they traded on the Fox.
  8. Al F, I soldered ours like Mark and Dale. The little connectors that came with the strip and I had an immediate falling out!
  9. I'll suggest something to keep in mind. Be flexible!. In 2014 when we made the trip, we crossed at Sweetgrass, MT. on I-15. Wanted to come back down thru B.C. into Washington but the roads were closed because of fires and smoke.
  10. jenandjon, yes at Jackpot. At Cactus Pete's who also has a nice RV park, you can park in the parking area in front of the RV Park. We have used both the RV park and parking lot at times. Also, just north of Cactus Pete's is Barton's 93 Casino. The casino is on the west side of US 93. Directly across from Barton's on the east side of US 93 is a fairly large lot that Barton's let you park on. There probably won't be anybody in that lot because most folks don't know it is available and the sign permitting the parking has been faded for years. If dry parking, we usually use Barton's, much quieter and usually no one there. Both dry lots are on the east side of US 93. Beware, there is a 25 MPH limit thru Jackpot, and the local police force have all the time in the world to enforce it. If coming from the north, you will "drop" down into Jackpot, "so whoa it down"!
  11. dAVEH, we have used the RV 1200 water softener for 15 years with absolutely no problems.
  12. This appeared on the East Idaho news this AM. I sure do like one of the comments on the bottom of the article. https://www.eastidahonews.com/2018/08/idaho-falls-man-fined-banned-from-public-land-for-defacing-corona-arch-in-southeastern-Utah/
  13. Ray,IN, are you saying that Honda shops carry parts for the Boliy gen sets? Thanks for any info.
  14. Thank you, Wrknrvr. (Vern) Have been looking for the info on that website you shared for a long time. Thanks for sharing!
  15. Sandie & Jim, if Jim likes hardware stores, have him check out McFadden-Dale at 5580 S. Decatur Blvd. #114. The website isn't worth a dip but the actual store sure is! http://mcfaddendalehardware.com/ Also, Meads Hardware 4438 Lake Mead Blvd
  16. Hey, steved44, what happened to the restaurant at the park?
  17. Jim & Alice, if you are still in the Yuma/Wellton area and need it re-sewn, there is Arizona RV in Wellton that does sewing and etc. Also, in Yuma, there is Specialty Sewing Senter at 3249 E. 33rd. Place. 928-329-9409 and several other places if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself.
  18. Linda, you are spot on! The get-together will start for the winter season on November, Wednesday, the 8th at 11 AM. Everybody in the area is welcome to attend.
  19. Yep, Vegas Teacher. Left Boulder City Elks Lodge RV park on Monday the 11th. Now on our RV lot in Yuma, AZ. Not an HDTer but dually and fiver. By the way, got drenched last Friday night at the Bishop Gorman football game !
  20. babemooney, first the parking. The Indians have a huge parking lot on the US side of the border, with a walkway to the crossing. It is $6.00 or $7.00 daily. Rvs and buses, prices are higher. No overnight parking. The best way, is to park your rig at a Yuma RV park and just drive to the Indian lot. Or if you are a dry camper, park at the "Q" casino, at the off ramp of I-8 and Algodones RD.(allowed) and the border is about a mile. I will worn you, there are "no parking" signs along the road off I-8 to the border. Don't park, because CHIPS will tow and impound vehicle! Now the dentists. We first went there 14 years ago and walked across the border only to find a zillion dental offices. We went in one and I really wasn't pleased with the office. So, we went back across the border, drove to the Escapees RV park, Kofa, in Yuma. We asked the lady that was working the desk if she had any recommendations. She showed us some recommendations by park residents that were on the bulletin board. Then she offered her personal choice that she had used for a number of years. Drs. Camacho that are just across the border entrance on the left in a gray block building. We had seen the office but on their shingle, it said "Pediatric Dentistry" so we didn't stop. It turned out they do all folks but are one of a few that do kids in the town. We still go there and are very satisfied with the very professional services. The Drs. Camachos' are husband and wife. Now their daughter has joined the practice. They do not do root canals as they sent me to another office that equaled their practice. We got a good laugh there as my appointment was at 1 PM. so we were there a little early, the support staff was on their lunch break watching the Mexican Soaps. The Camachos' have you carry your own records. They of course show on paper what work was done and put it in a folder for you to take along and in future trips to bring along for the history. If I were you, I'd talk to a few folks and ask who they went to. If you don't feel comfortable when arriving at a particular office, leave and go to another. Some dentists actually live in Yuma and just ply their trade across the border. And many have been schooled in the US. If I can be of more help just PM us.
  21. We have something similar to infoshot. Dually quad with 2 10' kayaks. We have a Yakama rack cross wise over the cab. Then a kayak carrier, that really is a saddle, one each mounted on each bar. We have tried numerous ways to haul them up there but stacking works the best for us. Two ratchet straps, each over the kayaks and anchored to the Kayak saddles. Then a ratchet strap from the rear of the kayaks that attaches to the base of the fiver hitch. One ratchet strap from the front of the kayaks to the top of our front mounted bike carrier. We put them up and down from the roof with a Big Boys' Toystore (Harbor Frieght) $50.00 remote winch. Works really well. Been in some strong winds between Twin Falls, ID. and Las Vegas with no problems.
  22. DuneElliot, please report back how you make out.
