  1. Now we're getting into the 2nd page of the diesel engine troubleshooting tree. Cracked fuel line inside the rocker box area, loose fitting on same, injector randomly sticking and slobbering, poor test procedure during injector/cup test. Hard to troubleshoot over a keyboard.
  2. All this worry about paint, and nobody's going to mention the bubblegum welds? Paint can, and should be touched up periodically, but boogers are boogers.
  3. From too much time spent rooting out malware from clicking instead of deleting. Finally got most of the older family members on board with just deleting things.
  4. The second article is the golden one. Stop clicking on every link that gets sent to you. Just, stop.
  5. Don't forget, we're from a colder climate. My use of a ball peen hammer resulted in a fractured finger...on the slip plate. Grease glue from now on, until I break down and replace it.
  6. On the other hand, that grease has a suction effect to help keep the slip plate in position. Ours tends to drop down, even after application of a ball peen hammer, so a couple grease dollops keep it up.
  7. Click on your name, in the top, right corner of the page. Select "Settings". Left hand menu, select "Signature". Edit away. Just a heads up, signatures don't show up reliably on cell phones, and people will tend to block ones that are too big, as it creates more scrolling/page changes.
  8. We're not in the market, but if I were, and less wiring inclined, I'd probably pay extra for a 20' piece of 12/3 SOW cord. Pin it out to your choice of colour/pin location, update the instructions to reflect the Bk, W, G wires in the SOW. This length would easily get into the cab and terminate to the brake controller/fuse tap. The SOW should be nearly bulletproof in this usage, but SJTW meant to say SOOW would be cheaper and smaller/easier to run through the firewall. Of course, pricing would need to be adjusted to reflect the different option boxes. ETA: Changed designator on cord type. SJTW is a plastic type outer jacket that may encounter issues in a flexing situation, going into the firewall. SOOW is a rubber type, thinner (substantially) than SOW, but should survive in this application.
  9. Only a few ways for fuel to get into the crankcase. Rings not sealing properly. Also results in low compression, thus low power. Injector over-fueling a cylinder. Usually causes smoke, but these new emission system exhaust probably prevent that. Going to be hell to pay when the repairs include DPF. Injector cup. My leading guess, at this point.
  10. We had a 2016 Honda CRV with a fob key, and push button start. Kept the fobs in a RF bag when in the RV, because we couldn't get far enough away from the vehicle to disable it. Lock the doors, leave the fobs inside, walk out and Open Sesame. The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica we have now has the same issue. RF bag to the rescue. Of course, the vehicle will not only unlock, but start and drive away. As long as the thief doesn't shut it off, it's theirs to do as they please. You do get a charming notification that the fob is no longer in range, just to make sure you don't shut it off unintentionally.
  11. We've only stopped for a 3 night stay. Onsite pay-per-day Wi-Fi only covers the main building, and a few adjacent sites. The weather is just barely cooler than Phoenix, due to the slightly higher elevation. Wickenburg is only about 10 miles away, for shopping, while Congress is like, 2 miles. Good territory to sit a spell. The Pickle ball courts were in hot use, and there seemed to be other personal activities going on. We weren't in the mood to participate, so we didn't look for invites, just walking the dog.
  12. Water pumps are common enough, and easy enough to replace, that we wait for failure/substantially decreased performance before worrying about it. Water heater, same, although we do have a replacement board for it. Sold to us by a less than skilled troubleshooter/mobile RV repair. Valves? If they start to weep excessively, they get emptied and removed/replaced. Sometimes removing and cleaning is good enough. Most things, we wait until it fails, unless it's life support critical, or the parts are hard to source.
  13. Drilled out 2 passthrough lines and installed bulkhead unions in their place. Dealer told me several years ago they're not stocked anywhere in the system.
  14. Nobody going to tell him that his Chromebook is a functioning PC?
  15. The shooting range on the NW quadrant of town has roofs over the parking area. Haven't seen a tree around Vegas beside palms and shrubs.
  16. I had a feeling that it was a K100, but wasn't going to stick my neck out that far until I had some other feedback.
  17. I'll start with the body style; cab-over.
  18. More than I'd pay for my morning constitutional. Whole lifetime of free "deposits", but still...
  19. If a factory install, it might have a thread sealing paste applied to the threads. Is there any sign of a pale red, crusty looking material around the threads? If so, torque will remove the fittings. Use a thread tape or paste rated for gas to reinstall new fittings.
  20. As an option, regular household carpet can have a bound edge added, to increase the choice of available patterns and sizes.
  21. The brakes may be getting power via the emergency break away switch. Look for a thin cable, mounted to a switch on the trailer tongue. If the pin isn't properly in place, it may be passing power. If it's missing, the switch is definitely passing power through to the rest of the circuit.
  22. I guess that's what I was implying when I insisted on an analog meter. Digital meters won't always differentiate PWM output differences.
