eventschef
We are still in South LA and found a beautiful place to use as our Base. Cypress Bayou Casino, Charenton, LA 70523, 800-284-4386 It has BIG pull thru’s that are long enough for our 68’ with a 5' space between the 5th wheel and Firedog. Plenty of room for all of our equipment, including the 2 Motorcycles. Downside: Very few trees, no bath house, washer/dryer or pool. Upside: Big spaces all with 30/50 amp power. Very nice rubber coated table, 4 benches. All of the campers in this area are very nice. They pass daily to clean and empty sites animal puff can. Plenty of power & water pressure for any rig. Wonderful restaurants, everything from a great hot dog/ chili, cheese, onions, the works with a cold drink, including a cold beer for a whopping $2.00 to the finest steakhouse I have ever eaten in, dinner for 4 with wine including tip for under $250.00. While speaking of food they also have a fabulous Seafood, Mexican, Oriental Restaurants all on property, starting service at 8 AM till at least 10PM daily, later on weekends. ALL BREADS, including the hotdog buns, pies, cakes and pastries are made right here on property. All of this for only $10.00/day, plus every 3 days starting with day one, you each receive a $10.00 credit on your club card for gaming. So, yes this breaks down to $3.33/ day after you figure in the credit. Pets are more than welcome. When you call to make your reservation, 800-284-4386, they assign you your sight number. After you pull-in, you can take your time hooking everything up, then call the parking shuttle, 800-284-4386, they come pick you up, take you to the casino to check in. The shuttle is always available to take you back or forth, even thou you are about a 5 min. stroll from the Casino. We, as most of you know are from S. LA and meet at the University, right down the road, but have spent 3 weeks going to points of interest in the area. Most of these things are fee. To say the least we are loving this life-style. Scotte28516
Spent a week and a half at the Worlds of Fun campground in North Kansas City, Mo. The heat and humidity was extremely opressive, not to mention the daily thunderstorms, downpours, wind storms. We headed for cooler climes, and are now at the Albuquerque North KOA in Bernalillo, New Mexico. Nice place, great weather. We'll be here until Monday afternoon, then moving on to check out the Flagstaff, Arizona KOA for a few days, before heading to Phoenix to bake in the heat with some friends. eventschef
We have traveled a few hundred miles North to Muskogee, OK to get a little releaf from the heat. Right off Hwy 69 south of town. Only one problem, man it is HOT, upwards to 104. Leaving in a few weeks heading for Green Bay for a buddy's 40th Wedding Annv. Then heading back down south to look for a place to park the Firedog, Trailer and kennel Calvin for seven weeks while Margie and I leave San Fransico 9-23 for a working cruise for a 30 trip to the S. Pacific, then Australia, remaining there for another 3 weeks. We had planned to leave everything at a friends home in Denver City, TX, but last week he was involved in a horrible truck accident, killin him instantly. A terrible loss of a very good person. Jack Mayer
Gene, if you are still in CDA I HIGHLY recommend that you go to the east side of the lake to Wolf Lodge Inn ??? the steak house - can't remember the official name. It is right next to Wolf Lodge Campground. It is one of the best steak houses in the country. You won't regret it. If you get to the campground say Hi to Dave and Janie - the owners - for us. Jack Mayer
You NEED reservations if you go later or on a busy day. Almost every day is busy there - at least when we were there. But if you eat early - like you guys do - then you may get away without reservations mid-week. Parking is tight there...they park all along the access road. So if you go early there will be parking along the access road and you will have no issues. It is expensive, but worth it for a one-time feast. At least when we were there. The campgroung is expensive IMO - about average for the area, or perhaps a little cheaper than the others.....but still expensive. There will be good parking for your truck at the campground if you stay there....and you can walk to the Inn to eat...there is a path through the woods, or you can walk along the road.
