  1. They try to have the C-130's come in and drop their load 150'-300' above the surface. Pretty awesome! Stay safe. dan
  2. Don, I find your comments very interesting. I know the Kale4kneeya comments never stop. I spent quite a few adult years in the Fresno/Clovis area, just loved General Grant and Yosemite on the summer weekends camping in our hitch pull in the 70's, etc. There are some very nice parts and places, plus some which were a pain in the ---. AZ is not that far away with it's own plusses and minuses. Enjoy your life! You and bride have, keep up the "good life" on the road. And the very best to all Escapees, no matter the path you choose! It is like living in Paradise! dan
  3. That was a GPS mistake. Once on the road, there is no turning around. Fortunately we did NO damage but it was a bit exciting! We got to Lotus just fine, have a daughter in El Dorado Hills.

Dorcas and I full time, will waddle our way north and over to Denver and another daughter by fall then back to The Woodlands/Lake Conroe for son, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

    We meet the nic...

  4. Yes, it was Dorcas and my little truck. We are enjoying being homeless. I hope I die before I get too old to travel and meet the nicest people in the world. The time to back off to a MH will soon come and we wish to be responsible.

    Have a wonderful tomorrow,

    dan & Dorcas

  5. Just checking -- were you traveling on Hwy. 49 between Auburn and Cool, CA today? My husband was in our toad at the Hwy. 49 Confluence bridge today and saw a HDT with a PT Cruiser towing a large 5ver. If you, how did you do driving the canyon? We are SKPs and have lived in Cool for 32 years.

    Safe travels...

  6. My apology for suggesting we are from AK. Last year we had the privilege of visiting of visiting that paradise, seeing old friends and making a few more in the process. We pulled a 36' Mobile Suites with an 01 Volvo and carried a PT Cruiser on the back of the truck. It is very convenient to be flexible to look around when we get there and very safe. We were not able to visit Denali, Fairbanks and that area due to the smoke from 53 fires and my wife's asthma, but did enjoy the Kenai Peninsula & Homer while the smoke blew away. Suggestions: Take good cameras and use them. Take time to enjoy the "free stuff." Some of the richest memories come from the stops make where the entry fee was $5.00 and you saw native displays and talked to the Natives, including places where the parking lot was nearly empty. Take money, their season is short. Take your time, enjoyment will find you. These are the only thoughts which come to me. We spent time where we did not plan to and they were the richest. You will run across Escapees in your travels, they are nice people! Stay well and stay happy, dan
  7. Too Much, The guy in that pic. looks much younger than you claimed to be. It is wonderful to know you are enjoying life in your part of the world. It would be great to see you in the same RV Park in Canmore the latter part of June this year. We hope to be there and have family join us there in that beautiful place. Enjoy, the work can wait! dan
  8. From The Woodlands/Conroe, TX. First, I think Jack is suffering from the lack of snow. About a week ago, when I looked behind the truck traveling from East Hou to 30 mi. North, there was a police type vehicle with lights on, passed me, since I was driving legal and turned right at the first signal light. Since I did nothing wrong I continued. Immediately, he reappeared, at the next signal he offered turn signals and a hand out the window pointed me to the right. When he and I both got out, he had a funny look on his face and asked me who I was. Answer 1. was my name, answer 2. was I'm an Escapee, answer 3. was dandy2! Smiles all around. He too is an Escapee, and likely to be FT in another 3 years. So, if you are in the Houston region, see a vehicle behind you with lights a flashing - - - Smile, you may have met a wonderful person who is an Escapee! I will leave it to him to identify himself. Life is a wonderful adventure, dan
  9. In my case it was the gears. If yours is like mine was it is easy when you get to the box. My gears were made of composite material. Te replacement was cheap but made of steel and should live a lifetime. We'll be in The Woodlands by afternoon. Stay warm AND dry. Every good wish dan
  10. Sorry to hear that Jim, my idea may be of no use to you, but will share an idea. Last summer we were leaving a park and our kitchen slide would not move. A kind soul saw the dilemma and brought a 9/16 10 point socket, we exposed the cover and racheted in the slide. WE cranked it in and out until we could get new gears, about $16.00 per slide from the RV mfgr's supplier. Best wishes dan
  11. Too much truck and we are at Spring Mt. just down the street in Canmore. Be well. I think the Too Much must be the Cat under the hood. dan
  12. We just pulled into Canmore last night. Spring Creek Mt. Village. Daughter flying in Sat. for 5 days in all this beauty. The parks are pricey, stopping in them a $20.00 a day is pricey too. But the price of beauty is a good bargain. Hope you enjoyed your time as we are enjoying ours. Stay well and stay happy, dan
  13. We know the spot, enjoy. Hopefully as the time has passed, hopefully you can celebrate the next stage of living. If your joy is like ours, it will be very good! Best wishes for the lovely days ahead, Dorcas & dan
  14. We are enjoying the Town & Country RV Park just outside Palmer, AK for several weeks. We saw David & Abby go by, hope they run out of road and come back by in a few days on their way back down. The weather is just lovely with a nice dry breeze. The last few days it has gotten into the 70's. This full time life is a very good life! Dorcas & Dan
