Jim Gehlen
At the rally in Wichita, it was mentioned at one point that we who travel quite a bit, let others know where we are hiding. Might be a good way for those who are traversing an area to stop and find out information or even get some assistance if needed. Starting 10/16/05 we will be in Sierra Vista, AZ for a month or so then move around for a bit. dieseldan
Maybe we should just keep one openly running discussion string that all mobile members periodically add updates, checking in just to let others know where they are and offering any significant comments about places they are or have been, comments about parks visited, etc. This might be a good place to start it now. The title is right. Quote Dieseldan 1999 40' Travel Supreme RLTSODB Two Bedroom 5th Wheel. Jack Mayer
The balloon Fiesta was perfect. We were there the first 5 days, and the weather was perfect for flying. The "box" was in play (for those that don't know, the "box" is a wind pattern that allows balloons to take off in one direction, then climb to a different altitude and come back to where they started). All activities went as planned, for the most part - which is unusual, since the entire thing is subject to weather. We were in VIP East 2 - front row. This is high on a bluff overlooking the field. We could sit in the rig and watch all the activities if we wanted to, and it was a short walk to the field. Overall, a perfect experience, and well worth the extra money for our front row position ($85/day, total, including all admissions). Nolan
Didn't get to the rally, but did meet a gray and blue T2000 going east pulling a 5th wheel camper on Ocober 10th. I think at that time we were on Highway 50. We are in San Antonio for a week at a KOA. Nice place with "free" Wi-Fi. Can pay .80 per person to take the Metro bus into town. If you go to a military base on a motorcycle be sure you have on a helmet, long shelve shirt, long gloves on, (fingerless doesn't cut it) long pants and boots on. Lots of neat things to see and do. Then maybe head Corpus Christi and stay a week. There is a storm in the gulf we will keep our eyes on. Then down to Harlingen, TX. Start workamping there Nov. 1st until March 31st. After that we think we'll try to get into Blazing Star in San Antonio for a few days at least to motorcycle tour the area. Then we're going to wander. bobt35
Hey Guys, Jack M. and Trapshooter, by all means lets get together this winter and break wind er bread. bstark, We stayed at Blazing Star a couple of years ago. It is a pretty park but the streets are very narrow and the entrances and exits from the campsites are laughable. No matter what you do you will tear up the grass getting in and out. We now stay at the Alamo Fiesta park in Boerne, tx. when ever we are in the San Antonio area. It is a nice park with lots of room for big rigs. Just a thought..... jja
This is a great thread! I love hearing where everyone else is traveling to. We are stuck in Ft. Vela1 - we met in the field at McChord last year when I first brought our truck home. Hope all has been going well. When you get to DMAFB stop and say howdy to Bob & Ruth in the loop across from the office in site 33 I believe. They have a big KOR. He drives truck and I've been trying to convince him to get rid of the little F350 he has and buy a real truck. Maybe if he sees yours it will help.
