Chalkie
The "Guinness Book of Records" started out to become a resource to settle pub arguments. The man that started it was the Managing Director of Guinness at the time and the thus the name. It's business model is now mostly geared to create "new" records of whatever, and there are some pretty off the wall things in it. Since no one has ever been as rich as Musk it would seem pretty inevitable that he would eventually lose more than someone else. I do wonder though what it is about the human nature that we seem to gloat over others misfortunes?

Kirk W
Actually, as my broker likes to say, you have neither gained nor lost anything until you sell so most of the numbers we see published for any of the very wealthy are only hypothetical anyway. Most any of them frequently see the book numbers change more in a week than most of us make in a lifetime. The idea of a billion dollars is beyond my ability to imagine. I posted that link because I find it funny, and I still do. 😄 Quote Good travelin !...............KirkFull-time 11+ years...... Ray,IN
There is internet speculation this is financial strategy to manipulate Tesla stock values without violating any SEC rules. We've got to face it, Elon Musk is a financial genius. Just wish I'd bought stock when it was $17/share. Quote 2000 Winnebago Ultimate Freedom USQ40JD, ISC 8.3 Cummins 350, Spartan MM Chassis. HMFunk
Since Mr. Musk operates in scenarios having more "zero's" behind the max-value numbers than almost all of us, maybe the more interesting number would be to rate peoples' loss-of-net-worth experiences as a percentage of their peak wealth value rather than the absolute dollar value of their loss........ It would be interesting whose loss percentage would be the closest to 100%......... Who would be the "biggest loser?" Travel Free! But it is also true that if he and others like him were to lose 75% of their net worth, they would still be rich compared to us, while if we lost 75%, most of us would be in poverty. I sometimes wonder when I see stories about who is richest and such, does it really matter to anyone on that list where they rank? Somehow I doubt that it does. There is a borrowed word for it: " Schadenfreude (/ˈʃɑːdənfrɔɪdə/; German: [ˈʃaːdn̩ˌfʁɔʏ̯də] (listen); lit. 'harm-joy') is the experience of pleasure, joy, or self-satisfaction that comes from learning of or witnessing the troubles, failures, or humiliation of another. It is a borrowed word from German, with no direct translation, that originated in the 18th century. Schadenfreude has been detected in children as young as 24 months and may be an important social emotion establishing "inequity aversion".[1]" Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schadenfreude Quote RV/Derekhttp://www.rvroadie.com Email on the bottom of my website page.Retired AF 1971-1998 When you see a worthy man, endeavor to emulate him.
