trimster
I need thoughts/ideas/tips on the cabling the dash monitor for a camera system. Where do I best run/drill thru the dash? Best way to get the cable runs out of the cab? Darryl&Rita
Follow the rest of the wiring through the firewall. Punch a hole near the bulkhead connector, use the factory wiring bundle to ty-wrap to. Star Dreamer
Each brand of truck will probably be different. On our Freightliner, I came up through the passenger side floor board with a hole and large grommet right below the dash cover on that side and ran it up into the dash from there. It was convenient as I could also access the fuse panel which is on the passenger side dash for the power supply for the monitor. trimster
On the volvo vnl, the dash piece that covers the fuse box, on the top of the dash...it just snaps out? Lift up an edge and hope for the best? hatrack
Bob, I think there are two screws by the cup holder that pops out. Not positive on this, still trying to figure out how to open it on my Volvo VNR 640. DesertMiner
Slide out the “center top” cup holder. You will see 2 screws that need to be removed to un-snap the edge of the top panel. It hinges up towards the windshield.
SuiteSuccess
I brought my cable through the cab and under the floor trim piece on the drivers side floor. There is a channel where other wires run. I then mounted the monitor in the dash itself and didn’t have to drill any holes. Looks like a factory install. trimster
That's really clean. My monitor has a flush surface mount option like that as well. Thanks all. Bob Bob, My truck doesn’t have a lot of dash mounted switches but you may have to move them over and consolidate. Easy to do as those switches can go multiple places. trimster
I looked at my dash. There I have axle controls , which can be moved, and two axle temp gages. Not sure where I can move those too.
