blown turbo south of Moab

We spent a week last fall just up the road in Monticello.  Lots to see around there, if you get off the main roads.  Montezuma Canyon and Moki Dugway are not to be missed, and there's a few national monuments and state parks near there too.

Good luck Mr. Jim.

With all the parts on hand it's an easy one day job.

Hope the missing nut is not too far upstream from the turbo or in the cooler.

Better Blanding than Moab. We just left Moab on Wednesday. Where you headed?

Northwest Indiana....  Blanding is a cute town.  Just got back from the Ice Cream shop and they had Blue Bunny so its all good!

We got lucky..... The nut and blades were in the housing still.  Maybe a pint of oil in the down tube with very little grit.  Reverse pressurized the intercooler with a flushing agent and no grit and very little oil.  Upper tube to the intake was clean.

Turbo is off... With all studs intact.... got lucky on that as well as this was the factory turbo... 22yrs old, 56x,xxx miles with who knows how many heat cycles.

New turbo will be in Moab in the morning.  I'm going to run up there and get it, and Dale- D&G Mobile service- will meet me at the truck and will do the install.

By the looks of it, and having seen similar carnage on 5.9 engines, it looks like the bearing let go causing the shaft to wobble, allowing the intake impeller to dig in and the shaft snapped.
