Wrknrvr Posted November 23, 2016 Report Posted November 23, 2016 I am starting to think about things that I have put off in life. Things that when younger you say some day I will do that. Fulltimers rving, fly fishing, spending the summer where you would like too. Remember those old thoughts. Ok now this was a serious thing that I finally decided to do. I have an old 22 caliber six gun in a western frame . Now handling a six gun would be interesting to do. A least I think it would be. Twirling and some fancy handling. A few years ago in Wickenburg Az there was a man there that teaches how to handle a six gun to movie stars and it really look interesting. So I have a hand gun and a holster that I finally said ya no it is about time. That guy in Wickenburg even said to where a motor cycle helmet as you may need it when you first start out.. So today I got my holster out. It is 8" to short. At age 20 it fit. Never gave it a thought. Ok John Wayne must of had a longer holster later in life. I really thought it would still fit. Now to think of those other thing I always wanted to do. Vern
Kirk W Posted November 23, 2016 Report Posted November 23, 2016 My weight has actually changed very little over the years, but even so my shoulder size has become smaller while the waist size has been increasing! I do believe that I am experiencing furniture disease, as my chest seems to be falling into my drawers! Good travelin !...............KirkFull-time 11+ years...... Pat & Pete Posted November 23, 2016 Report Posted November 23, 2016 I've never been very good at that 'gracefully surrendering the things of youth' business . I still do a few of the things of yesteryear , just a lot slower . That includes dumping Winter weight . To the point of rarely wearing a belt . Maybe because not many sweats or shorts accommodate such a restraint . I'll pass along a little secret : Buy a bradded belt with no holes . Goes around , comes around .
skp51443 Posted November 24, 2016 Report Posted November 24, 2016 Next time you are out in the boonies look for a harness shop, they can do a belt extension that will look great and usually for a decent price. Twirling tips: If you grin a lot while twirling a tooth protector can prevent chipping if you get really wild. Carpet or grass, a hard floor or pavement aren't a good choice. Get the wife busy and keep her away from the cameras until you get decent. Do not let the cat observe, it may decide to participate and that does not end well. kayakbob Posted November 24, 2016 Report Posted November 24, 2016 I would think that the leather shrunk that 8 inches . All my blue jeans have shrunk , and the bags of dog food have got heavier ,stair steps are made steeper ! I think some one is playing tricks on us as we age .
Wrknrvr Posted November 24, 2016 Author Report Posted November 24, 2016 That's it . The belt shrunk. Stan, I did think of having it extended. But after 40 years of seeing it just hanging out with my gun stuff. I never gave it a thought about being too short until yesterday. Today I will get out my backpack and see if that belt will fit. Better start doing more exercises . Safe Travels, Vern

You can brag to everyone that sees you how you are going to "get in shape" and feel real good about yourself. When you get home you use just one dumbbell. You hang the belt by the buckle and tie the dumbbell on the other end and let it hang. Hopefully that will stretch your belt and you will still be able to brag about buying them to help your belt fit! Just don't tell them how you are trying to make it fit.......... Happy Thanksgiving!! Ray,IN Posted November 26, 2016 Report Posted November 26, 2016 Try shortening your belt a bit more and wear it like a leg holster. I don't think inches are the same as years ago. My gun-belt got too tight(leather shrinks when it dries) so I bought another, it's the same 36" length and still too short. 2000 Winnebago Ultimate Freedom USQ40JD, ISC 8.3 Cummins 350, Spartan MM Chassis. sandsys Posted November 26, 2016 Report Posted November 26, 2016 If you buy a belt that's way bigger than you need you can punch a new hole in it and wrap the excess around and tuck the end in. Then you can pretend you lost all the weight rather than that you are gaining it.
