The Class-less Class

Setting in Beaumont, Tx visiting with daughter and son in law and our grandsons. Plan on being here until after thanksgiving. Left the RV in Casa Grande, Az and drove the truck over. Now waiting on the flash as Jeri goes east and then another as she returns to the west.

As we drove by Deming, NM we thought of Lee and how much he meant to all of us.

We took a cue from Heyduke and have stopped at Golden Village Palms in Hemet. It is a pretty nice place and starting to fill with snowbirds. We got here last Sunday and not sure if we'll be moving this Sunday but probably will.

We've been to Hemet, but Carol had a cousin that lived there and we were able to park next to his house in an orange grove. Nice to reach out the window to get your morning juice!

 

We're still in Red Bay at the factory waiting to get something done. Our carpet came in yesterday so now we can get the installer working. Of course next week is thanksgiving so they have to eat and deer hunt, so ........... The body work from the incident with the 5th wheel comes to about 8,500, so the body shop is getting set to start that job. Hurry up and wait!! They are backed up because the owners mother died, so on we don't know how that is going to go. Then Carols phone went bad, so we had to get a new one and, of course, that process never goes as smoothly as they say it's supposed to. Those phones are too dang smart for their own good. It's a good thing we are retired that's all I can say. We saw the rocket ship (Jeri & Terry), go by a couple of times so I guess at least someone is on schedule! Happy travels. Steve

You have our sympathies Steve. Been in that RV purgatory ourselves and the waiting on just getting service is not fun! Hopefully, the accommodations are decent and at least it's free?

We wanted to go to Jojoba Hills Escapee Park today for a week. We could not get a site today so we are at Pechango Casino instead for 3 nights then we'll go to Jojoba the rest of the week. Our drive today was about 27 miles and somewhere along the way the remote for the bedroom tv decided to go into hiding. We bought a replacement figuring the old one would show up but it hasn't. LOL. We will have to cut our winter travels short. Here's the irony.

 

My brother, my only sibling, as most of you know hasn't spoken to us since we went on the road. He told us that we were having too much fun and he did not want to hear about it and we were shirking our responsibilities by running away. Guess what...he has bought a truck and a fifth wheel and is going on the road in February. What????

 

Anyhow that means that we will have the responsibility of looking out for my ailing father. That means we will have to stay in an expensive rv park in the cold. (About $700 a month and that's about an hour out of the city) until we can go to our summer site in the park.

 

We really hadn't planned further than the end of January so although it's very disappointing, we haven't had to change our plans.

Sounds to me like he finally figured out how to make you live up to the responsibilities he thinks your SHIRKING.

 

I know it's tough dealing with aging parents and that you and Doug will do whatever you need to do. And winter in the PNW really isn't as bad as a lot of folks think, except for the fact that it RAINS ALL THE TIME

Dang, I'm jealous of all the sawhorse parties going on! We are going to have a small one here at the factory! Our friends from Oklahoma are parked next to us and another couple from Pennsylvania will be joining too. We will be cooking the turkey, and they the trimmings. At least a 12lb will fit in the RV oven so that should do the trick. Cold here last night (31) so we probably will not be eating out by the picnic table. Hope everyone has a great thanksgiving! We'll be going to Dave's sister's house. Ten adults and three kids at the table (one in a high chair off the corner). One more adult at desert time. We have not yet met the great niece who will be in the high chair so there's that to look forward to as well. We'll be bringing deviled eggs as an appetizer and pumpkin pies as desert so we have both ends of the eating taken care of.

 

Yes, it will be a white Thanksgiving. We are getting a little more snow each day between now and then but not supposed to get any on the day so it should be good driving the hour from our house to theirs.

Yippee! this Thanksgiving we are happy all our repairs / upgrades are done and we can roll out of Indiana!!! heading south -our T day will be turkey sandwiches at a reststop in Missouri or Oklahoma. Heading to Tucson !!!

Our conversation tonight turned to Quartzsite, and here is the upshot of the conversation:

Paul and I may want to be home in Havasu the 13-14 of January for the Balloon fiesta. We should be in Q on the 15th and plan on staying somewhere on Plomosa Rd until Jan. 23 when we will move to Tucson for medical appointments. Brad and Marilyn and Tom and Dianne asked me to mention that they will be plan to be in Q about the same time as us.

Count us in for Q on the 15th. Lookin' forward to seeing the gang again! After sitting in Casa Grande for three months, movin' the rig should be an adventure!
