palamine
Weather! We have never seen anything like it in the PNW. We thought we were through it. Severe thunderstorms between Springfield and the Arkansas border but no, after about 3 hours (paused for the debate?) it started again. Lightning like we have never seen, raining so hard our rig is clean. Warnings on the tv said it would stop at 8:00 pm. To make matters worse and sleep impossible a reefer truck pulled in right beside us. I have gotten up so that Doug might be able to get a couple more hours of sleep. We are due in Memphis this afternoon. Now I remember why we don't like making reservations! Striper
Your welcome Joe. Nice picture. The sun actually shines there? Wow! We only had showers here one night. Warming to the mid-high 80's for the weekend. I think John and Sharon helped pulling the rain away from the PNW too. Travel safe everyone. Jeff Thanks, unfortunately them weather guesser turned out to be right again. ( It happens once in a while ) Rain and WIND returned last night. Had to bring the slide in cause the toppers were flapping so bad. So a wet one today, but then that's why we have Foul Weather Gear with us. Wanderin
Just thought I'd add to that .......... we're currently under beautiful blue skies. The sun was shining yesterday and the temperature was actually warm during the day. However, we did have to turn the furnace on this morning after leaving windows open last night. It'll be another beautiful day as we continue our slow trek south. steved44
Weather here in North Carolina went away yesterday. We were in Winston-Salem yesterday and on the way back to Ashville it went from 75 degrees to 54. Now this morning it's 42. Quite a change. Blustery and spitting rain so of course it's moving day. Who plans this stuff?? Heading for Chattanooga for a week to see what's going on around there. Hmmmm click on engine pre heat for the first time this year. palamine
We are at Betty's RV Park in Abbeville, Louisiana. We planned this stop last June and now here we are. Those of you have told me how friendly Betty was are so right on. What a gem! There are only 3 other rigs here and 5 are expected tomorrow. We feel lucky. We have taken site 15 over in the corner under the trees. We had planned to be here a week. We have decided to stay two weeks. palamine
The party has begun! And we have celebrities. Not only do we have wonderful Betty, we have Mark Nemeth and Jim and Lisa Koca from SKP headquarters. We got here and there were 3 rigs and now there are nine rigs. There is live music, beer and food in the square every night for the next ten days. We went last night It was magic. We didn't even realize that that kind of thing still went on. We forgot our cameras last night but won't next time. Saturday night is a cracklin festival and we are all going. We had a blast. The day we were due to arrive she called us (never said who she was) Just said "when you gonna get here? You need to be here by 2 pm. My musician friend invited everyone to a party so we need to leave by 2. " The party was hosted by Judy Bailey, a country singer. She provided all the food, and a live concert with her new band. You just have to be open to having fun when you go to Betty's. Onthego
Once again we are bringing rain to a part a California. I got 3 flood warnings on my phone last night. Suppose to rain today, Sunday and Tuesday. Currently in Santa Maria, Ca. We are kind of treading water ( pun intended) waiting to attend the NHRA Finals in Pomona, Ca. in 2 weeks. Hope to see a couple of my drag racing friends. After that we'll be going farther south, So-Cal and AZ. Hopefully for a warm and dry winter. Travel safe everyone. According to Dennis's blog he got a kick out of you having been warned. Be aware that if Dennis offers pulled pork it will be VERY spicy hot. Even what he claims is mild is hotter than most people can eat according to reports from attendees of the RV Driving School's gathering in Q back when Dennis owned the driving school. The history is the first one there posts GPS coordinates. Then others look for them as they arrive. The gatherings and outings happen pretty spontaneously so come prepared for anything. The Desert Bar trip always happens on a weekend, though, as that's the only time it is open. Then people start leaving as their permit expires or they have something else to do. You may have noticed this is a group that has a hard time making specific time commitments. I don't mind the LTVA for a couple of weeks then move to Plamosa Rd. for a couple of weeks. Desert Bar is usually the first Saturday of the show. Thought we might do something to honor Lee?
