Hmm I'll be just over the hill in Pahrump, NV Starting about the 18th of October till approx the 8th of November. Might just have to see about meeting up somewhere for some lunch. I will be in class the 20th and 21st, then again for 4 days starting the 31st. Other than that I'll be fairly free to run around and Sharon will be there with me part of the time also.

Joe

Well try to make that happen Joe. It's been along time. Tina still talks about that margarita. :)

Another day at the ranch. This morning was devoted to self maintenance. Shower, laundry, store etc, I got a call from the doctor's office stating the lung specialist had reviewed my records and had given me an appointment on 3 September. I picked the paperwork up this afternoon. The pre diagnosis stated on the referral paper was Fibrosis of the lung and Hypoxia. I did some research on fibrosis and there are two types. Nothing can be done about one of them and the other can be helped a little through major surgery. At my age that ain't going to happen. And to tell which one you have requires open lung surgery. As far as the hypoxia is concerned. Oxygen can help but I can't find if they are talking about oxygen treatment or toting an oxygen tank around for the rest of my life. They mention both as treatment but don't say anything about the outcome of either. Neither sounds very good to me. If left untreated hypoxia can lead to mental problems an damage to the heart. What ever the lung doctor tells me I'm not going to go along with the diagnosis until I go back east to Duke or Wakeforest and see what they have to say about it. My breathing has been getting a little better by staying as active as I can. I don't find it hard to breath I just get winded too easy. Any time I exert myself I have to stop and let my breathing catch up before I can continue what I was doing. I break jobs up into small segments and get them done but it sure takes a long time to do anything. Right now I'm not going to do anything until I see what the lung specialist has to say. My biggest worry is I may not be able to out run those cowgirls.

Jeri, we're not sure where we're headed after Bend. May check out the SKP park in Sutherlin, OR and head over to Crater Lake? When are you and Terry making your way south? Hopefully, we can run into each other before AZ!

Jeff & Tina, your pin appears to be stuck at the Elks in ID! Any chance we can intersect also?

Roger

We really like the park at Sutherlin. Don't expect much socialization, but the park is beautiful and the sites are super. Boondocking is very private. Bring groceries, no grocery store. You have to go to Roseburg.

There is an RV park in Durham where a lot of people stay when getting treatment at Duke. I've not been there but I hear good things about it. We want you to do whatever it takes to get well--short of major surgery that is. I'm with you on that one.

Today must have been national run around day. I've been to town three times today and didn't get much of anything done. Oh well the Arab oil tycoon needed to buy his traveling son a new mazaratti. At happy hour this evening we had the monthly birthday party with ice cream and cake. Sure was good but it sure messes up dinner plans. One of the guys needed transportation to town this afternoon but is too self conscious to ask. So I told him I needed bird seed and ask if he'd like to go along. I got a free lunch out of it and he got his shopping done so we are both happy campers. I got a voice mail today that was too low on the volume and I couldn't make out a single word. What little of the voice I could hear I thought sounded like a lady friend I haven't seen in about 8 or 9 years. I didn't have her phone # and she called from a non listed phone. So, I called another friend that was in my Square Dance club at the time who had a lot of the old membership records. She looked up her phone # from way back then. I called and sure enough it worked and she had been the one that left the voice mail. She was going to do some traveling this winter to California and wanted to know were I was. Maybe my luck is changing for the better. Me remembering anyone from back then let alone a voice I could hardly hear is the eighth wonder of the world.

Sounds good, The Winery in Pahrump is a real nice place for a lunch get together. And the Mexican Restaurant in Oak Harbor is still serving those Marguerita's.

Lots of sunshine this morning keeping the temperature up in the 90's. I sure wish I could pick a snowball fight with someone. Not too bad if you can keep in the shade while outside. I'm not too energetic this morning so I haven't tried to do anything except water the 8 trees along the fence near my site. I got the drip system working good enough to do that but you have to keep an eye on it and unclog a drip head every once in a while. Other than sit here and watch the birds fight for a position at the feeder there just isn't anything going on today

A nice cool day today so far, light overcast and only about 70. I'm over in the shop this morning trying to find something to piddle with. I might even break down and do some carving just to see If I still can. It's very quiet this morning. Maybe everyone left during the night but so far no atom bombs have gone off so I guess they are just sleeping in. I sent a note to my niece letting her know what the situation is on my breathing problem. She sent a note back saying she will be here in a flash to take me back east and care for me while going to Duke or Wake Forest Baptist. I declined right away cause I'm going to wait and see what these local yokels say about it first. She is looking at the worst that can happen while I'm still holding on to hope that it's minor. Oh well, It's nice to know she is ready to jump in and help if I ever need it. Her husband is in worse shape than I am in the lung department. She don't need me around there huffing and puffing too and my GG niece just got married so she don't need an old man around her house to take care of either. It makes me want to hook up and head for the boondock country where nobody can find me. I think I'll just not keep her informed until after I get the full story and decide what I have to do about it. Until then I'm going to enjoy what freedom I have and chase cowgirls. But no catching them.

Maybe you can catch a cowgirl who would think taking care of you gives her life purpose that is otherwise missing. I know there are some of those out there. You do have to set limits on what care you will allow, though, you don't need a boss. Or go home and let your former housekeeper do the minimum that needs doing--she sounds like a winner to me. Someone to do the cooking and cleaning can make life easier.

We just had a hum dinger of a storm. I thought the big bad wolf was going to get me for sure. Things were really rocking and rolling and the rain was coming down in sheets. We don't need any amusement park rides after that. It took the top off the bird feeder and got the seed all wet. And, it was almost full. It's all calm again now but I now have waterfront property. It looks like I'll be doing the back stroke on my walk in the morning.

Time to get the boat out. I knew that would come in handy sometime. We are having a good storm in Davenport Iowa this morning too. The people next door (in a tent), had a portable awning that blew past us and landed in the camping spot next door. Then we watched them go over there and attempt to fold it up. That turned out to be quite a show. It was like attacking an octopus with a hammer. Or something like that. Now the rain has about stopped so we are going to go dump and hook up. On to Nebraska! A Crystal clear day today although a little muddy from mother nature's temper tantrum last evening. Nothing much to do today. I'm over in the shop messing around with anything I can find to mess with. I'll do a little carving but I've found my eyes are not what they used to be for seeing the guide lines. Maybe getting the other cataract removed and new glasses will take care of that. I broke my good glasses a couple of months ago and although the ones I have now were supposed to be the same prescription, I never did think they were quite up to par. There are a couple of Solar eclipses coming up in October. I'd like to have better sight by that time. I'm thinking about adding an automatic alignment device to my telescope to get rid of the contortionism needed in aligning it manually. I might use it more if I had it. There are lots of nice things viewable this time of year but finding a night that is clear is a problem. By October just about every night will be clear but there are lots of thing I want to view in September too and some I'd like to see now. The Persenids meteor shower is usually one of the best for the year but there wasn't even one clear night during the peak time for it. The Orionids meteor shower is coming up and it usually has a few meteors that produce after glow that is brighter than the actual burn out of the meteor. I'd like to witness some of those. If an auto align makes it easier to set up I might buy a CCD camera so I can record some of the stuff I see.

Oh Boy, do plans change, get the chalk out. We were headed West to Colorado, but Carol's new crown is giving her fits. She actually had a temporary one that felt fine and the day before we left Oklahoma, she had the new one put on. Turns out that it's not going to work, so we will have to go back to our dentist in Oklahoma so we can get it replaced at no charge. So now we turned South at Des Moines and are headed back to Shawnee. Carol has an appointment on Monday morning and they say we can have the new one on Wednesday. I still have to be in Colorado by Monday the next week, so we should be able to do that. Whew! Now for the bug problem. We have been relatively bug free for quite a while, but we camped out last night right on the Mississippi and this morning when we pulled the slides in during the rainstorm we must have drug all the river bugs in with it. I've even vacuumed bugs off the lights and they still keep coming out of the woodwork aaarrrrggghhhhh!!!! Now there's one trying to get at my cranberry juice, what nerve!! I don't know how so many could get in all at once, but boy is that ever aggravating. At least we found a good state park here in Missouri and they even had a pull through spot with our name on it. Ok, bug, let me have my glass, come on pretty please!! I mean NOW mumble mumble *&%#?&?@$ bugs!!

Steve, sounds like you guys might have been camped at Illiniwek Park? One of our favorites when we lived in nearby Moline, IL. Great view of the river, barges and other boaters...apparently, bugs too! If they are the "May Fly" variety that's very odd for this time of year. Usually, only see them during the late Spring...thus their name. Harmless critters but, they can be annoying! Have seen RV's completely covered that are camped nearer the water. Good travels to CO...should be bug free there!

We arrived in Challis, ID yesterday. Long drive in driving rain with a bum wiper blade that didn't get attached right after the windshield replacement...stripped the spline. Will get that replaced too when we get to the Beaver factory in Bend, OR. We can't shake the wet weather that keeps showing up during cranberry hour. Been very dry out West so, I guess that the locals should be much obliged for changing that! :D

Darn Steve your cutting in on my racket with the bad luck. I thought I had that market cornered. We'll try to keep the storms at bay while you're in Shawnee. Tell that dentist to hurry up and above all get it right this time.

It's a nice cool morning. When I first got up it was only 59. I had to wear a light jacket while eating breakfast. It's forecast for only 91 today. Might be a good day to try and get a few choices done. Friday evening for L E O ( Let's Eat Out) I took a couple cowgirls to the Chinese place for dinner. I ordered Orange Chicken. It was good but a little too sweet for my taste. The serving size was tremendous. About 3 more full meals at home after eating all I could at the restaurant. The next morning my blood pressure was way high. I blamed the salt or MSG they may have used. However at noon the BP was back to normal. So, I ate another portion of it for diner last night and this morning the BP was still normal so I guess I'll have to let the Chinaman off the hook and try Chinese again some time.

Last night I sat outback and star gazed for a while. It was very clear at first but high clouds drifted in and messed things up after about an hour. The ISS (International Space Station) was exceptionally bright on its trip across the sky last night but no meteors. So my neighbors got a solo while I sang songs waiting for something interesting to see. I wonder why they always leave the next morning. LOL.

We stayed at Thompson Causeway COE park one July and have pictures of our motorhome covered with Mayflies. They were so bad we couldn't enjoy the spot we had...right on the river.

Sitting around the campfire last night here in Q, a discussion was had about the fact that our group is no longer the Classes of 2008 and 2009. We now have members from 2010, 2011, and 2012.

A couple of the folks from the Class of 2012 commented that they had felt hesitant to post on the Class of 2008/2009 thread because they felt like they were intruding. Because of that we decided to start a new thread - The Class-less Class. Double meaning intended for some of the group - and you know who you are!!

This year we have 20 rigs parked out here in the desert and a lot of knowledge and stories have been swapped around the campfires. We want to continue that camaraderie in the future with the Class of 2013 and beyond.

Please let me know what you think of this idea. How about the name of the thread? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the new thread.

I was looking thru the Forum here, and stumbled on this thread. My DW aka "She Who Must be Obeyed" would like to go full time soon. We wanted to be part of the 2013 class but that didn't work out. So maybe soon we will be able to make the trip to the "Q" next January or February. Right now we have some complications from health that we are dealing with, but that will get better soon. DW had TKR surgery in June.

Welcome. The Class initiation process is in Q in January. It is not as painful as it sounds but must be done to become an official Classless Class member. In the meantime feel free to chat here as we take anyone but it sure helps to be able to laugh at yourself while the rest of us laugh with you. It also helps to join the Class of the year you actually go full-time so you have someone to commiserate with you as you all learn the lessons you thought you wouldn't have to learn.

Welcome aboard, anyone is welcome to chat with us here on the forum. They even talk to me? Check in regularly so you can catch on to some of our code talk. Or was that nonsense talk? We joke with each other a lot here. And report all our happening and non happenings and just about anything we can think of. The real value outside of just good friends is our private web site. Which you'll be given a password for after you meet with us at our winter gathering usually in Quartzsite, AZ and usually in January or February. On that site we can find where each member is. The city, state, Campground and site number. That enables us to meet up for a chat or dinner whenever our paths cross all year long. We are all on a first name basis so it would help if you use your first names a few times while posting. I'm either Lee or IYQ and will even respond to the old man. Let us know where you live now and any progress you make in getting ready to full time. We've all been through the process and some of us multiple times. We might even come up with a trick or two to make it easier. We have no officers or leaders we make decisions by taking a consensus here on the forum. Jeri ( wandering) and Sandie were the class leaders before we became "classless" I think they got tired of herding cats and gave up. I better cut this short before I talk you out of joining us. Jump in with both feet and enjoy the group. Lee

Lee - I think Jeri and I did such a good job of training everybody that now we can just turn you loose and just hope for the best. We're in Billings in the rain and cold. Only got up to 57 today and it was windy so felt even colder. This is not helping Jim and Todd get any hail repair work done on the house.
