steved44
As one Go-fer checking in, welcome to our motely crew. The Chief has spoken, and we all snap into line. Snap, welllll saunter, drag, crawl or trip into line. What line? Oh you get it, we're classless so there you have it. The main thing is get out here and enjoy the adventure. BessyBus got us back to Oklahoma today in the 102 degree heat while running at 187degrees and cruising like a champ. Now we are parked at the Shawnee fairgrounds, and enjoying FHU's with some shade and satellite view to the south. Doesn't get any better than that. Now with two new A/C units, she even tamed the 102 temps and made it livable inside. We should be out of here on Thursday or Friday, if we can get Carol's tooth issue taken care of, so I guess a few more days in the "hot seat" won't be tooooo bad. At least they won't have to send our mail out this time. w6pea
Welcome aboard, anyone is welcome to chat with us here on the forum. They even talk to me? Check in regularly so you can catch on to some of our code talk. Or was that nonsense talk? We joke with each other a lot here. And report all our happening and non happenings and just about anything we can think of. The real value outside of just good friends is our private web site. Which you'll be given a password for after you meet with us at our winter gathering usually in Quartzsite, AZ and usually in January or February. On that site we can find where each member is. The city, state, Campground and site number. That enables us to meet up for a chat or dinner whenever our paths cross all year long. We are all on a first name basis so it would help if you use your first names a few times while posting. I'm either Lee or IYQ and will even respond to the old man. Let us know where you live now and any progress you make in getting ready to full time. We've all been through the process and some of us multiple times. We might even come up with a trick or two to make it easier. We have no officers or leaders we make decisions by taking a consensus here on the forum. Jeri ( wandering) and Sandie were the class leaders before we became "classless" I think they got tired of herding cats and gave up. I better cut this short before I talk you out of joining us. IYQ
If I'm the chief why do I see nothing but back sides in front of me ??? Hummmmm. Did I get a chance to vote on that? No wonder we're going in circles, I've been following the one in front of me. This calls for some serious cranberry juice refreshments and a very long Steve. Â I'm planning a trip up to Silver City to make a dry run for the lung specialist I'm seeing on the 3rd of Sepyember. I figure it might be better to find out where he's hiding up there before the appointment. And as a reward they have some nice restaurants up there. I just have to check them out you know. Taking the trip now will get the timing figured out also. Â Last night at sun set I saw rays of light that appeared to radiate from a common point from the top of a small mountain. I've seen the same effect with the rays radiating downward from a cloud in a fan shape. It is called "Crepuscular rays". I did some research and guess what. The rays that fan upward instead of downward are called "Anticrepuscular rays" dahhhh. I don't quite have my head wrapped around the physics that cause them yet but I'm working on it. The common name for the downward fanned rays is "God Rays" I wonder if the upward fanned rays are called "Devil Rays"? Or maybe IYQ Rays? Or Steve44 rays??? Â If I'm supposed to be leading this motley crew would someone please tell me where we are going?????????? sandsys
w6pea, Â Given your signature line I thought you might enjoy this: Our daughter, a truck driver, was trying to make a delivery one day when car drivers got upset with her maneuver. She yelled at them, "Do you want toilet paper today or not?!" On similar lines my favorite bumper sticker says, "Farming is everybody's bread and butter." I never get upset when following a farm vehicle or a semi-truck. I likely need whatever it is they are providing. soos
I'll probably be taking a lot of Steves for the next few days. We are in Eh Land, hanging around for a few days....and nights.... because the Aurora Borealis should be active. now we just need to find some clear sky. Haven't seen much of that all summer. One of the rainiest on record. Boo for us.  Jeri, we are thinking of spending a week hiking Olympic NP in a few weeks. Please tell me the weather in September should be good?? Â While I'm certainly not Jeri , you should have good weather here in North West Washington. However we are over due for some rain. Â Joe HAHA .. I would have said exactly the same thing. September is usually a great month. The Pacific Northwest's summer usually starts about the end of June or first part of July and runs through September. It does depend on what part of the Olympic NP you intend to hang around as far as the rain goes. Some of it gets a mighty lot of that wet stuff because it's in the rain forest. However, September is a lot better than October. Edited August 26, 2014 by Wanderin' Quote Just Wanderin' On a permanent vacation! IYQ
Who knew there would be so little hiking in Alaska? There are many hiking trails in Alaska. The trouble is that half of them end at grisly or yellow wolf feeding stations. IYQ
HAHA . You're so funny but you know I don't take orders well! That's why I appointed you to all those offices. You don't take orders so I thought you would be good at giving them. Oh, incidentally before I appointed you to those positions I made some new rules. 1: all appointments must first be nominated by the chairman of the nominating comity. 2: I nominated and appointed myself as chairman of the nominating comity. 3; I made the nominating comity chairman a permanent position that can not be changed by the president. After all those were in effect I nominated and appointed you to all those positions. So you see your stuck with the job. Cause I'm not going to nominate anyone else. You can't change the rules now because I did the same for the chairman of the by laws comity (Me) and then took that privilege away from all the other officers. palamine
Sounds good, The Winery in Pahrump is a real nice place for a lunch get together. And the Mexican Restaurant in Oak Harbor is still serving those Marguerita's.  Currently sitting in Rockport, WA at a really nice County RV Park.  Beware of those Martgueritas in the Mexican restaurant in Oak Harbor. palamine
Darn Steve your cutting in on my racket with the bad luck. I thought I had that market cornered. We'll try to keep the storms at bay while you're in Shawnee. Tell that dentist to hurry up and above all get it right this time. It's a nice cool morning. When I first got up it was only 59. I had to wear a light jacket while eating breakfast. It's forecast for only 91 today. Might be a good day to try and get a few choices done. Friday evening for L E O ( Let's Eat Out) I took a couple cowgirls to the Chinese place for dinner. I ordered Orange Chicken. It was good but a little too sweet for my taste. The serving size was tremendous. About 3 more full meals at home after eating all I could at the restaurant. The next morning my blood pressure was way high. I blamed the salt or MSG they may have used. However at noon the BP was back to normal. So, I ate another portion of it for diner last night and this morning the BP was still normal so I guess I'll have to let the Chinaman off the hook and try Chinese again some time. Last night I sat outback and star gazed for a while. It was very clear at first but high clouds drifted in and messed things up after about an hour. The ISS (International Space Station) was exceptionally bright on its trip across the sky last night but no meteors. So my neighbors got a solo while I sang songs waiting for something interesting to see. I wonder why they always leave the next morning. LOL.   We see the space shuttle every night at 9:15 pm. Clear as clear. IYQ
What do you know, the plug for the golf cart finally came. The repair guy brought a trailer and took my cart to the shop, installed the new plug and had it back in front of my trailer in less than two hours. Now I can charge it without having to fiddle around with it for half the morning to get it to connect. One more nagging problem gone. Things will be so easy around here I won't have an excuse to take a Steve. It's been fairly cool most of the day. I like that. By this time next month we'll be complaining about the cold night. IYQ
Hey Lee - Come on up to the Portland area. We need someone to feed the deer and eat our leftovers! (Doesn't that sound like a better offer?) Hey that sounds a lot better but that being the PNW I don't know if I remember how to do the back stroke or Australian crawl. It's about that time of year up there. When I lived in Tacoma I tried a john boat but it filled with rain and sunk. The locals told me I should have used it upside down so the rain would run off. Can you actually see the deer through the fog??? Maybe that is what was eating my petunias. I blamed it on the slugs and earwigs. Now those leftovers hummmmm. That's bribery. palamine
Will ya look at that.  Doug and I have been on the road for 5 years today. August 27, 2009 we left the RV dealership in Walcott, Iowa. Never having hauled anything, ever, we said "Well we have to go sometime!" and off we went. 5 years later - many, many places, many, many adventures (mostly good) and many, many, wonderful friends (who are like family now) and we have no regrets.
