scouserl41
We are hoping to list the house next week! Got it painted inside and out, the bathroom is almost finished, should be done today. We had somebody round to clean the kitchen and all the windows, the landscaper installed the gravel in place of the front lawn (drought measure to conserve water). My friends came and looted my garage of everything they wanted, I gave away my motorcycle trailer, the grill, patio set, bedroom furniture and couch are sold but stay until the house is shown. I was a little depressed, then Barbara said "Hey as soon as the house lists we can get the realtor to put a lock box on the door and we can go camping for a couple of weeks locally" Did she ever motivate me!! It's coming, soon we'll be on the road to South Dakota. Brian 2009 Monaco Cayman DP 38' bnbrv.blogspot.com/
Peaceful Page
Closing is next Monday, the 15th. Our house is completely empty and our Airstream is in the driveway, loaded. We are already living it is since we have sold all of our furniture. Just using the house for showering and cooking. We did a run last week up to Alumapalooza, a rally that is held on the Airstream factory grounds. We had a great time and were able to get some warranty repairs taken care of while we were there. Butterflies in the stomach are circling! If you realized how powerful your thoughts are, you would never again think a negative thought. Daveh
This is third week our house is up for sale. Had a lot of folks come through but no takers. I know it is a short period of time but it is a bit disconcerting. Most of our stuff is gone. I need to do work on the fifth wheel but we decided to put things off and I am power washing the deck today with a list going on ad infinitum. We are ready to be gone fast but are now mental preparing ourselves for a longer haul. What a LOT of work. SRPearson
Well, its been 3 weeks since we turn the key and drove away from the sticks and bricks. We have been in southern Oregon and northern California for the first 2 weeks. Then we turned the front of the motor home east toward Kansas. We've been through Nevada, Utah, and Wyoming, all in 4 days. We are now sitting in Sidney, NE at Cabela's. We should be with our youngest daughter in Kansas City by Tuesday. That is if this Midwestern thunder and lightening storm over us doesn't delay us. Enjoy the ride. 2007 Country Coach Allure 470 and pushed by 2010 Chevy Silverado 1500 4x4. yourpcgeek49
Many of you are further along in the process, and we are JEALOUS! However, many changes are in the works as we prepare to retire and "go on the road" at the beginning of November. While the house has not yet sold, we have adjusted the price to make it more attractive to potential buyers. And we have a firm destination for the first two legs of our journey: Livingston, TX, and Casa Grande Ruins National Monument. scouserl41
Closer and closer! The "For Sale" sign went up Tuesday and the photographer has been. We moved into the RV on Monday after getting the house 99% straight. The realtor said "WOW" when he saw how clean and tidy it was and the remodeled bathroom gat a "WOW" too which made us very happy. All we need now is the open house and lots of offers (we hope). Our full time journey is happening! We have 2 weeks at the local Thousand Trails so we can go backwards and forwards to the house each day for the little things we forgot! Next week we are going to a County Park for 4 nights followed by 3 night boondocking at our favorite casino for the July 4th weekend and that will be followed by 2 weeks at another TT park a little further away but still within commuting distance of the house. We don't intend to sleep in the house again, so once we get a contract we can park the rig in the drive and work on getting all the furniture delivered to the people who want it and to Goodwill. We are like little kids on Christmas Eve. BnB 2009 Monaco Cayman DP 38' bnbrv.blogspot.com/
scouserl41
The open house was yesterday and the Realtor messaged us it was "Wildly successful". Hoping to have offers today. Then the toilet in the RV started leaning and I had to tear up the floor. Maybe we'll be taking trips to the house to use the BIG power tools! Fingers crossed. scouserl41
We sold the house! We had one great offer on Saturday with more pending. This morning at 11am we had 6 solid offers all above our asking price! The one we got Saturday was an all cash offer with the buyer wanting to close in 10 days. All offers except one were above the asking price. We decided to take the cash offer after he came up another $5k and said there would be no realtor commission to pay. That means that we effectively exceeded the highest offer thru a realtor by the time we paid the commission on that. The home inspector is coming tomorrow and we should be done with disclosures in 3 days. 14 days to close puts at July 9th a full month ahead of our estimate and we save a mortgage payment too! 2009 Monaco Cayman DP 38' bnbrv.blogspot.com/

Peaceful Page
Our house closed a couple of weeks ago. We are now full-time in our Airstream. Having a good time and we are nestled in Clearwater, FL for the summer so that Hub can attend RV tech school. Thank goodness for live oaks and air conditioning! SRPearson
Peaceful Page, which school is your Hub taking his classes from. I just finished taking the classes to become a Certified RV Inspector, but was thinking of continuing with my education and become a certified RV tech also. What does he think about the curriculum? scouserl41
Pretty bummed out. The big "Cash Deal, Close in 10 days" buyer backed out at the last moment and we have to start the dance over again with the next person/persons who made an offer and hold another open house this coming Sunday. We're staying upbeat though as there have been plenty of good offers. It will just mean a few more weeks until we hit the road. Probably with the same sales price. It is just a bump in the road. Right now we are in Tucson, and tomorrow he head north to Kingman, and then Las Vegas. TripKitty
Hi all! I'm pretty new to the Escapees forum. Looking to go full time, and hope to be able to be doing that while it's still 2015. I'm looking around for the right RV to get. Lots to do researching to figure out what I want and find the right deal. Then I'll get to deal with all the stuff that goes with selling the house. Lots of details and stuff to do. It can feel overwhelming, but I am trying to take things one step at a time. Thinking about the freedom and adventures of life on the road provides a lot of motivation! I work from home, so I started thinking there is nothing holding me back from traveling and seeing the country! Class B, 1984 Dodge Xplorer van by Frank Industries. Jaymalea
James and I are taking the plunge and joining the class of 2015. We came home from Arizona and Utah on Memorial Day and made the decision to sell the house. Have a realtor chosen and the date set for 8/01/15! We've been busy getting the house ready, and have a few more weeks to go now. A few more projects, getting storage items ready, then packing the bus. I'm excited and apprehensive in turns. My first question (I'm sure there'll be more): Have any of you ripped your DVDs to an external hard Drive? If so, what software did you use? yourpcgeek49
I didn't rip my DVD's to HD -- it was easier to buy a couple hundred sleeves, pop the disks & front liner out of the case, & put them into the plastic sleeve. That reduced about 3 boxes of DVDs down to two small trays that easily fit in our overhead storage. OldTownTwo
Hello Class of 2015, Joining the Escapees last month has been great. (So much knowledge from everyone). Our home is due to close soon and everything seems to be going in the right direction. We've upgraded to a heavy duty truck and after several trips to the RV dealer know we have it "narrowed-down" lol to a couple well maybe a few TT's. Our Full Time lifestyle will start here from Florida. We would love to get to the Grand Canyon along with a couple of stops along the way before returning for the colder months. Nice to have this forum for sharing. Safe Travels, Bill & Amy Bill & Amy 2011 Flagstaff Classic RLWS 2013 Ram HD2500 Reese Hitch
DianeMichael
We've been on the road fulltiming for 5 weeks now. It has been an adventure and a learning experience. Even with all the planning there have been surprises along the way. We've had more minor repairs to do than we thought, but we've gotten much better at "rolling with the punches". Although coordinating leaving in June with hubby's school year over, I think I would have done that differently. Between competing with the heat and all the summer travelers, it took us awhile to adjust to that. If I had to do it over again, I think I would leave in the spring or fall. That said, I wouldn't trade it for the world. We are in the Yellowstone area for 10 days now - which was a dream come true - and all the stops we have made have been educational, relaxing and fun. We head now to the Oregon coast for a family wedding and then head East. For those not yet here; hang in there and keep plugging along. It is worth it !! troutman
We became fulltimers April 2nd and have been waiting a long time to join this forum. We are looking at South Dakota as our new home state. Has anyone done this who could give us some insights on mail forwarding with good services, S Dakota lawyers who can handle wills and trusts, and a South Dakota bank or credit union with great online services? We discoverd in our recent call to Escapees mail forwarding dept. that they are in a legal battle with the state of S Dakota. As a result the drivers licenses from their address are 1 temp licenses only. Other services are able to help us get 5 year DMV renewals.

Although this is a trying timed I assure you that it is worth it. We had the same problems and uncertainties even with ten years of planning and a lousy selling market while unloading the S&B's. vt3fan
The wife and I are ready to join the class of 2015 - Full-timing. We are both retired and last Oct we left Vt for AZ and a winter in a little friendlier climate. Good choice. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we have decided to do it full time. Upon our return to VT in late April, all of our focus has been on getting rid of 40 years of accumulated "stuff", putting our house on the market, and looking in to a full timers rv. We would be moving from an Airstream trailer to a 5th Wheel, and looks like that 5th Wheel is going to be a Mobile Suites. House sale is confirmed, the stuff is going each week, little by little in private sales, flea market, give aways, etc. so we'll be on the road in Sept. Can't wait for that .........
