  1. The darn things seem to shatter & break frequently. After seeing $100 plus for new ones, I made my own out of aluminum sheet. More than a few years now, and looking good. PM me if you want a pic. Any sheet metal shop can bend you up something for probably less than 2 new ones (if you could get them).
  2. Buying it in the business name requires daily mileage logs splitting out any personal use. The write off would be apportioned same as the usage. Get a GOOD accountant 1st.

    Cool Truck

Look at the wheelbase as a lever. At one end, the driver goes up same as the front wheel. In the middle (conventional) driver goes up half the distance on a bump.
  4. If you are putting them on a Gen1 truck, sit in the seat before drilling. The template makes the R side too low to see.
  5. Well, in "the old days" when I was truckin' & it was a cold night, I had an electric little heater. Power? I stole the special plug from a phone booth & spliced it in, pulled up to any phone booth for heat.
  6. IMHO, anyone driving an air braked vehicle should also know how to do a DOT type check.

    Drom box potential

My truck has a factory weedburner that I exited out thru the fairing. Fuel tanks aren't close. One caution- I had to narrow it 10" to fit between the fairings up close to the cab. Mail me at canvasgeezer@yahoo.com for other details & pics.

    Drom box potential

That bed is interesting except for the rust between the box/bed. I too wanted storage for bikes/tools/toys, but I singled short. Absolute max was 52" behind cab for clearance. Went & got a 48" Pete sleeper box, & turned it around so big opening is facing back, & fab'ed a door for it.
  9. Costco has some wierd rules on tires. Like, they will only put the new tires on the vehicle position they came off of. No, you can't buy new for the steer axle if the old ones came off the drive. "OK, I'll be back tomorrow for my free rotation". Sorry, have to go 5000 miles first. Bought my last set from Tire Rack, had no problem finding a shop to do mount, & cheaper.
  10. I'm thinkin' batt on the trailer was dead. Driving plugged in brought it back up, & safety came on.
  11. Electric brake "emergency wire" safety pulled out?

    flooding

VERY surprised they didn't TL. You might tell them that every time a bulb burns out you're going to call them as part of the claim. You might drop the bomb "Bad Faith" in the conversation. Doesn't really apply here, but that's an attention getter.
  13. Just remember, if your dog charges thru the fence after an irresistable temptation, it will also keep him from RETURNING thru it
  14. Tks for all the input & replies! Sprung for a Pathway X2 off Ebay. Yeah, using the data by phone would work, but we're into KISS. Cripes, I can't even get these new 110V plugs in the first try.
  15. I envy you. But my guess is you don't come east, right?
  16. Well, we have seen several RV parks that have permanent residents, either working jobs across the country or whatever. I want to be able to say the same thing when I'm done RV'ing. Anybody else compare Winegard to Tailgater before i buy?
  17. Tks, just the feedback I need. I see one on Ebay for $340, good deal? Any way to put it on a pole? Anyway to keep it from walking, like the security lock thingy on laptops or?
  18. Tks for the explanation. Yeah, the 15GB is the problem. We are not fulltimers, and if I can get a tailgater cheap enough we could use it at home as well, carry it when we go. We don't have & don't want to spend for Inet for just the weekends. Inet at home is paid for by my wife's employer & we can't piggyback ANYTHING else on it like streaming, HGTV, etc.
  19. TKS! Been looking at Tailgater. We currently use Jetpack and Sling TV. Looks like I could cancel both & almost break even. What model TG do you have, and would you buy that one again? Cost of #2 receiver? Would you buy used?
  20. Not worried about it dying, contract is up in 4 months & I may microwave it myself. Complaint is "Limited-unlimited" view time. We're lucky to get 6 hrs of TV w/o buffering in the middle of a show. Not fulltimers, not worth going satellite unless can be used at home too. Solutions, PLEASE!
  21. Read all the recent threads on this. Looks like those of us that got screwed now know it, I have a 6620 w/4 mos left to go. SO- what is the answer? Upgrade? Do newer units download faster for more viewing? Sell it on Craig's? Float test it? NO WAY I'm paying $15 extra for EACH extra GB of data.
  22. Be sure you have what you think you have. Go to section D in the policy and READ it, "what we pay in the event of a loss" . Many plans say "$XXXXX **OR** ACV, whichever is LESS". Whatever you do, document your rig's extra features on a CD or something. In the event of a theft or complete fire, you need to prove all the stuff you're claiming did exist. Or better yet, get a professional appraiser to value your rig, note all the extras and arrive at a value. Now THAT will get you your value in court. (Yes, I did that on my rig 2 yrs ago & have it documented)
  23. My take? For $208 the trooper did the owner & all of us out there a FAVOR by getting him off the road until safe. He should be happy he didn't have an accident, the lawyers would have filleted him.
