  1. Chris and Cherie specialize in mobile internet information. I recommend their site for the most up to date info on current data plans. Jay https://www.technomadia.com/
  2. I hear what you're saying, but I would suggest that not all app updates are created equal. All too often, the "improvements" are only helpful to the content provider, not the end user. I'm to the point that once I'm happy with how an app works, I avoid updating it until I no longer have a choice. I'm sure it has a fair amount to do with aging, but I really get annoyed when they move everything around so I can't find things and I have to relearn the new arrangement. Maybe when I was younger I wouldn't have cared. Jay P.S. Getting rid of all those remotes for one single perfect remote trumps everything else, in my book.
  3. The first so-called smart TV we had was virtually useless, because the apps were primitive, under developed and difficult to use. I "needed" to upgrade our largest TV for enhanced definition, better backlighting, etc., but the bonus was the fully developed suite of apps. With a remote very similar to a Firestick remote, we can access and view everything with complete ease. In comparison to our Firestick, I'll choose the new integrated system every time. l liked it so much, I replaced two more TVs, just for the smart features. Some things take more time to develop. YMMV Jay
  4. I quit satellite several years ago, plus my kids have been streaming at their homes for many years. I use a Firestick connected to a Mobley hotspot on the road, and our other TVs at home are newer. The newer TVs have all the apps built in, with a smart Bluetooth remote. The entire system, hardware, software and remote, works incredibly well. Makes us wonder how we managed before. Very happy to "give up" cable and/or satellite. Jay
  5. Here's the link to picture posting on this forum. Once you create a url, you then need to strip the [IMG] front and rear and use the Other Media button to paste the remaining url. Hope that helps. Jay
  6. A lot depends on the weight of the trailer. Physics is a great thing. Our fiver weighs about 20,000# and inertia keeps everything in pretty good shape inside. We do, or rather my DW does, carefully batten everything down, but even when we forget something, it's still pretty much in the same place at the end of the day. That is, unless it's a miserably rough road. Then there's bound to be some Mixmaster effect. Jay
  7. That's very interesting. I did not know before today that the IRS Heavy Vehicle Use Tax was not strictly a commercial thing. I file mine every year for 66,000#, but there's nothing on the form about mileage. There's also nothing about commercial vs. non-commercial. It's just for anything over 54,999#. Obviously, state laws will vary. Okay, I learned my thing for today. Jay

    Solar on truck

Just copy the url between [IMG] and [IMG]. Insert that using the Other Media button. Jay
  11. The new northbound ramps are now open, reducing the logjam at that interchange. Southbound at rush hour was slow, but still flowing. Northbound was slow to the split, but no longer backed up for miles. Jay Note: The ramps have been flipped northbound, so stay left to go right and stay right to go left. I missed that the first time.

    Neck pain

For best comfort, it's better not to be up against the stop or down on the bottom. The seat needs to float free. Jay
  13. Glad it worked for you! You know the panel just snaps off, right? It has spring clips that snap into holes in the door. A flat trim tool helps, once you've removed a few screws, I think in the handle area mostly. Jay

    Neck pain

On my seat there's a handle under the front right side of the cushion. You tilt it down to lock it and tilt it up to unlock it. I'm sure other seats likely have different layouts and locations, but I think every seat I've seen has the backslap release somewhere. My back hurts just thinking about riding it locked. I DO need to lock it for local driving, because it's hard to use the pedals with it unlocked, especially with my short legs. Actually, I drop the seat all the way down for local driving as well. I lift and unlock again as soon I'm on the highway. Obviously, it would be much easier with an automatic transmission, but I have to deal with the clutch and the Super 10. Jay

    Neck pain

Are you unlocking the seat so it can float forward and backward, as well as up and down? I know when I don't release the seat lock, I get that back slap and the headache that goes along with it to remind me. Jay P.S. How old are your cab air bags? As they age, they get flaccid like an old worn out balloon. Then they no longer can support the cab and they'll bottom out against the stops. I can tell you from experience, that's very painful for the back and neck. Jay

    Neck pain

Worn air bags and shocks at any location, front, rear, or cab, will beat you to death. I would start by checking them. Jay
  17. I've never had a commercial DOT inspector pay any attention to back of cab reflectors, so I seriously doubt that a truck retitled to motorhome or private truck will attract any attention. I wouldn't worry about it. Jay
  18. First you pry the plastic cover off, exposing the metal frame of the handle. Once you've done that, you can see the recessed Torx head screw. Removing that will let the handle fall off, if memory serves.. Jay
  19. This is the exact problem I have with Pandora as well. I have a LOT of saved channels and I have Plus, but on my favorite ones, it's the same dozen or so songs, over and over again. No variety whatsoever. I also stopped thumbing up or down. So, I'm following this thread to see if it goes anywhere. Jay
  20. I hesitate to comment on this thread, because my experience and usage is quite different. Most of my miles are commercial. 25 plus years ago, I tried to carry a good selection of parts for emergency repairs, plus doing repairs proactively. I no longer do that, but then I've been through my truck and know the age of each component. I would research your specific setup and look for known weaknesses and fix those. Otherwise, I'd just keep an eye on things. For example, my N14 is known to have crank sensor and fuel line issues. Those I would replace proactively. Silicone coolant lines are already referred to as lifetime. Mine have almost 2 million miles on them and they're fine. The only time I've replaced thermostats in several million miles was due to defective injector cups. Most things on a Class 8 truck not only last hundreds of thousands of miles, they usually give you plenty of warning. I've only needed a tow once, and that was my won ton, not a Class 8. I'd be mostly concerned about components that would leave me stranded. YMMV.. Jay

    Hub Oil Change

It's not just the FL sun. The first time I broke a Stemco window was on a January winter day in Ohio and then I was stranded at my delivery. After much frustration with the Stemcos everyone kept using, I ran my own comparative test on my rig. Basically, any that don't have the sandwiched window like the Stemcos are much better, but this one is my final choice. They're available everywhere and darn near bulletproof. The school bus company I haul for puts them on all their school buses. That to me confirms my research. Jay https://www.anythingtruck.com/product/170-1643B.html

    Hub Oil Change

This means it's time to get rid of those junk Stemcos. They're just the worst and yet they keep showing up. My Volvo shop put them on my steers without my consent and now I have to change them out. Again. Jay
  24. It's all gas stations, according to their site, up to $6000. Jay https://help.samsclub.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1557/~/cash-back---sams-club-mastercard
  25. Strip the [IMG] front and rear, then use the Other Media button to insert the link. Very neat and sanitary assembly, BTW. Jay
