How old is your unit? Ours is the original Camco/GE in our 2011 Newmar and long since discontinued. There were no other units I could find that would fit properly and look like the original install, so I really wanted to fix the one we had. Yours looks like a challenging situation and one where I would definitely prefer to fix it, rather than demolishing the entire slide to get to it. Good luck, Jay.

This is how ours was installed. The room across the top was removed and screws were driven at an angle through the frame of the micro into the cabinet framing above. Re the mother board.. Have you looked into rebuilt boards? That's how I fixed ours. There were multiple sites that had rebuilt boards. I picked the lowest price one that sounded legit. The first board had a stem problem, but the board worked. They shipped out another board pronto and the unit is still working. Jay

Your pix are too low resolution to see what that switch's function is. There's a way to attach higher res images via a link, if you're interested. Yes, you can put a jumper across the terminals to charge both, but you really don't want to leave it that way. Doing so will drain both banks at the same time and could leave you without battery capacity to start your vehicle. Plus, the banks are typically different types - deep cycle for house bank and starting type for the chassis bank.You really need a battery isolator of some sort, like an auto charge relay. That will allow you to use the banks independently, but charge them together. Hope this helps for a start. Jay

This is a classic example of different strokes for different folks. When I was younger, poorer and more ambitious, I would definitely have been in the group of those who wanted to "roll your own". I enjoyed the projects and the process and did all kinds of projects. I no longer am that interested or ambitious, so I opted for the complete, high quality and well thought out Jackalopee. I have relays laying around doing nothing, so I could've used them with no investment. I'm still happy I chose the finished product. To each his own. Jay

Everyone has a different perspective on this, I'm sure. When we're gone from our FL home, we leave the A/C on, but set it at a higher temp. The most important point of that is to dehumidify the home to limit the formation of mold and mildew. Plus, there are many things at home which we feel would deteriorate under excess heat and humidity. This way, everything stays as we left it. Jay

I just went through there two days ago, from I70 westbound to I29 northbound. I didn't think it was any worse than usual. I sailed right through. I'm not sure I'm the best reference, though. Not necessarily. I do know there are some systems that analyze the conductivity of the oil, presumably to detect the level of metal particles contained in the oil. When the conductivity of the metal particles reach the predetermined threshold, the car tells you it's time to change the oil. Jay

I have carried a telescoping ladder on my step deck to get on top of loads for many years. I don't use it a whole lot, but it works perfectly and I feel completely safe on it. But then, I'm not 200# plus, soooo.. It is something of a pain to put up and down, but I don't use it often enough to matter. Jay

When we were still using carburetors, starting the engine would activate the accelerator pump, which would squirt an ounce or two into the throat. Modern fuel injection uses computers to precisely meter the exact amount needed for starting, saving a decent amount of fuel. So, it uses less to restart now than in the past. Jay
