Many campgrounds have Park Models that they rent out, usually by the season, or owners of a Park Model may not be going south this year and would gladly rent out their unit. Also many campgrounds have cabins available for rent. This would be better than trying to sell a used RV when you are ready to leave. Additionally many metropolitan cities have Executive Rental Suits that are really long term stay hotels. They are not cheep but a lot less that a room at a hotel over several months. They usually charge by the week or month.

Chain of custody is a legal term. It has nothing to do with right of privacy, which is not the issue here. A proper chain of custody is proof that the video has not been modified or doctored in any way. Absent chain of custody there is no proof that the video has not been edited and it would not be admissible in a court of law. Law enforcement may still use it for the purpose of their investigation.

Having a video of an accident that was recorded by your dash cam may be helpful with your insurance claim buy may not be admissible in a Court of Law It would be hard to prove the chain of custody after sharing it with law enforcement, insurance companies and all attorneys involved. Additionally many intersections, if that is where the accident occurred, have traffic cams already installed whose videos would be used in Court.

Also, some States, like CA that has a agricultural checkpoint at their borders,(I-10 and I-8 for sure) will not let you import some plants. Not sure if orchids would be on their list.

I wonder if this includes all the weekend warriors who go out to the Imperial Sand Dunes between El Centro and Yuma AZ and camp out in the desert?

I lived in San Diego for 35 years before I went full time in 2014. They have the best weather in the country. In summer it is 80 daytime, 70 nighttime. In winter it is 70 daytime, 60 nighttime. The ocean water is cold however high 60s to low 70s in summer and 50s in winter. I left because of the high taxes, traffic and politics.

Before I had my Class A I had a toy hauler. I often when staying at one location for an extended period of time would place my Dish PathwayX2 on the roof and just run a cable down the outside to the outside connector. I had my toy hauler for almost 5 years and 80% of the time my dish was placed on the ground and never had a theft problem. One time when I was camping at Custer State Park in So Dakota and was inside watching television I thought my dish was being stolen when I lost my signal. I looked outside and a Bison was trying to roll it away but the attached cable prevented him from going more than a few feet.

I never denigrated his choice. I was only making comments regarding Stockton not Mariposa and I referenced Los Angeles not Silicon Valley which is near San Francisco. Having lived in CA most of my adult life I think I can assess the State and do not recommend it as a place to live due to high taxes and high crime in most of the State. I made a choice to leave my home in CA as did most of my friends and family. I do miss the beautiful scenery, beaches, mountains and desert but not the taxes, traffic, and politics.

Drugs and gangs have no problem going 2 hours away. Most are from Los Angles which is much more than 2 hours away. Stockton is on the top 10 list of cities with the most crime and poverty.

I always flush all waste including the Marine/RV toilet paper I buy at WalMart made by Scott. Back in the day around 1900 when toilet paper was just becoming popular Scott’s marketing slogan was “splinter free.” Oh yah.

Stockton has some of the highest crime in the State, except for Los Angeles, mostly due to drugs and gangs. Merced and Fresno are not far behind. It also has a lot of air pollution, especially in the hot summer.

I always call their technical support number explain that I am in an RV, give them the zip code of the camp ground I am in, and they change my programming to include the local channels. When I move to a different area where I will be staying more than a month I call again and make another change of programming. Sometimes you have to explain to them that you are in an RV and don’t need the move department to schedule an appointment to come to your house and install a new dish. I call tech support not customer support who are clueless.

The El Camino Real is the route the Franciscan priests took from Mexico to Northern California building Missions along the way. San Diego, San Juan Capistrano, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara are all examples of the Missions. It is now called Highway 1.

Just a side note: when I bought my Class A in Phoenix AZ I wanted to register it at my Escapees SD address. The dealer had to drive the rig to the AZ/CA border for me to take delivery out of State in order to avoid paying AZ sales tax. I did all the paper work myself with SD and mailed them a check for the tax and registration. The dealers said he could have driven to the AZ/NM border but CA was closer to Phoenix. You may have to do the same and if you take delivery in NM you will be very close to El Paso TX and may want to just go there anyway to take care of your registration and payment of sales tax and inspection. You may have to make an appointment so call first.
