  1. You have to remember that domicile and residence can be two different locations. Domicile is where you have your drivers liscense, vehicle registration, auto and health insurance, and you are registered to vote. You can only have one domicile. Residence can be anywhere you stay for a given period of time and you may have multiple residences. Additionally you can have any mail address you want and as many as you want. Having a mail forwarding address in TX, FL or SD in itself doesn’t make that your domicile. Additionally, State income tax is due to any State in which you earn an income. If your employer pays you in PA then you owe PA Sate income tax. If you earn income in another State then you will have to file a State Non Resident return in that State. If you work on the road you may owe income tax in multiple States. You need to contact a CPA for tax advise. It sounds like for now, since you have a PA employer who provides nationwide health insurance you may want to keep an address in PA for your domicile but use a mail forwarding service for your mail.
  2. You don’t need an escrow if the seller has a loan that will need to be paid off. The sellers bank will act as the escrow. The sellers bank will not release the title until it receives the funds to pay off the loan. Just ask them for a 10 day payoff. After you have signed the purchase agreement you can instruct your bank to wire the funds to the sellers bank to pay off the outstanding loan. Of course if you are buying for more than the amount owed you will have to give the seller the difference. Get the keys and possession of the RV when you pay the seller the difference, but not until you have verified that his bank has the title and will transfer it to you after they receive your banks wire.
  3. I am at the Escapees Co-Op in Benson AZ. The office announced that the local County Health Dept was making a list of all residents of the park that wanted to be vaccinated. So many signed up for the vaccine that they are now limiting the vaccine to anyone over 75. Hopefully everyone even those under 75, can eventually be vaccinated in the near future.
  4. Unless you are on Medicare most health insurance is limited to your State of residence as “in network.” You will have coverage out of State, to cover emergencies for example, but you will be paying more for out of network. I have been told that FL does have some medical insurance that will cover you out of State, I believe Blue Cross Blue Shield of FL is one. Others on this Forum will be more helpful regarding FL than I am.
  5. They are a little more expensive but worth the money, Mitchelin XPS Rib trailer tires. I had them on my fifth wheel for 5 years before I traded it in for my Class A and they were great. Still looked brand new after 5 years.
  6. I wasn’t spreading inaccurate information. In Dallas County TX only residents can get a vaccine “at this time.”

    Fueling

I see 3 different cards being referenced on this thread. TSD, TDS and TCS. I have the TSD and last year it was great at Loves. Now it appears the best discount is at TA and Petro but last time I filled up at TA is was a very small discount.
  8. So in Dallas County TX only residents can get a vaccine shot which leaves all other non residents and snow birds subject to getting sick and spreading the virus to each other and crowding the local area hospitals and mortuary’s. Not a sound idea. This is a Federal program and every person should be allowed to get a shot, of course starting with first responders, hospital workers and the elderly.
  9. Only if you file a Schedule A and itemize. If you take the Standard Deduction, which most do now that it is double what it used to be, then you are not deducting the professional tax preparer fee. If you are self employed you can still take it on your Schedule C and take the Standard Deduction on your 1040. The same if you have rental income, you take the deduction on your Schedule E and claim the standard deduction on your 1040. So sure if you have a simple 1040 return you can use Turbo Tax but if you have a complicated return then use a professional and deduct the fee as a business expense.
  10. There are two issues here, one is the issue of what State the policy was written in and the other issue is what State the claim was made in. Your employer policy may cover you for medical services in all States as you travel but if you change your Domicle to another State like SD the insurance company must be licensed in SD as well as the agent selling the policy.
  11. So are we talking about a stimulus check or an unemployment stimulus check? How much is the amount of the checks going out? I know it is $300 a week extra to your State Unemployment, which I don’t qualify for since I am retired and also was self employed for over 20 years, and the proposed amount of $600 for a one time check. Even tho I file a tax return for my rental income I don’t get a refund so I don’t get a direct deposit for the stimulus check, but I do get a Social Security check direct deposit. Last round of payments of $1,200 the check was mailed to Livingston and it took a few weeks to get the mail forwarding so it may be another month before I see any money.
  12. If you are self employed or have a side business and file a Schedule C the fee you pay a professional tax preparer is deductible as a business expense. I don’t know if it is deductible if you don’t file a Schedule C and only file a Schedule A itemized deductions. If you have rental property and file a Schedule E it is also deductible.
  13. I have 3 rentals in Calif. The property tax on one is $800 a month. The other 2 are $325 a piece, for a total of $1,450 per month to property taxes.
  14. I was self employed most of my life and had to file a Schedule C as well as a 1040. Being self employed I was more at risk of being audited, especially as a Lawyer. The same for Drs and other high income professionals. I always paid someone to prepare my returns to decrease my chances of an audit. I looked at it as buying insurance and it was deductible on the next years return. I am retired now and have several rental properties. I still use a professional tax preparer. I don’t want to even try to compute all the depreciation on each property. I don’t cut my own hair, or do my own surgery, or even represent myself in Court.
  15. If it’s been awhile you may consider flushing the cooling system and adding all new pre mix antifreeze before you hit the road again.
  16. Your profile says you are a So Dakota resident. Even tho SD doesn’t have a State income tax you still must file and pay Fed tax. I would look for someone in SD to do your Fed returns. I would also recommend using a CPA or EA rather than H&R Block or Jackson Hewitt, both ok for most W-2 income but not as good with self employed working from home on the road schedule C income.
  17. When I had a 5er I would flush the hot water heater once a year and change the anode rod at the same time. I also greased the hubs on the axels once a year.
  18. If income was earned in a particular State it is taxed in that State. No nonsense at all. Regarding Common Law Marriage: every State has different laws. Most community property States have repealed common law marriage. You don’t give up half of your property unless you say “I Do”. In Calif it used to be if you lived together for 6 years but that was changed many decades age. Also per the previous comments regarding TX common law marriage, I believe that you must live in TX full time for it to have any effect. If you are in an RV and travel out of TX for several months (snow bird) I don’t believe this would qualify.
  19. I am full time and have a Class A DP. I service the engine once a year, oil and all filters and get the free inspection. I am told that includes getting all zerks on the chassis. About $550. I also have the genny serviced, oil and filter. About $250. Also once a year I get the Aqua Hot serviced. Clean the burner, new nozzle and filter. About $225. I usually do all of the above while I am at my winter location. I am usually rolling most of the summer and am not anywhere long enough to make an appointment for service.
  20. Yes. That was because you were physically in the State within 6 months of you DL expiration date.
  21. This is not just an RV problem. Before I went fulltime I lived in a house on a corner lot. I always had trash and dog poop on my front lawn left by people walking by n
  22. Before Covid days, you could renew your divers liscense by mail if you own property in the State. If you had a PMB you had to renew in person. But I believe you could renew anytime within 6 months before or after expiration. Not sure about the rules now with Covid and extensions.
  23. I always pick up after my dog. I have seen others who do not but never one allowing their dog to poop at another’s door step. As far as apartment owners doing DNA test, I don’t believe this because of the high cost of doing a DNA test. An apartment owner just would not spend the $$$$.
  24. They do it for professional sports athletes. In the NFL, for example, when one team visits another’s city, ie: Green Bay at Chiefs, the players for GB must file a tax return in the visiting teams State, MO.
