  1. I have heard the argument that it is a towed vehicle and not a trailer. Most motorhomes have a max towed weight that is unbraked. The motorhome has no way to determine if the 4000# load is a car or a load of bricks on a utility trailer. It is a towed load and thus all the states laws apply. Some states have unbraked load limit as low as 1500#. Ken
  2. Most parks prohibit wireless fences and require the dog to be on a leash and only tied out when you are out. Some prohibit any dog fences. You need to check each park. Ken
  3. OK Hams, this is not right in so many ways. Wait until they need help when the fancy fixed communications go down. Ken Ke5dfr
  4. You need to check the electric heater element for the fridge. You will need a volt-Ohm meter to check the resistance or open circuit on the heater element. An alternate method, if you can work safely with electricity, is to disconnect the electric heater element and wire it directly to 120 Volt cord and plug it in and let it operate overnight. If the fridge cools in this by pass mode, the heater element is OK. If good. If there is no cooling, the element is bad. Ken
  5. DocJ, to pick up the meds at Walgreen triples out cost out of pocket. So we fight the idiots at Optum RX Ken
  6. I don't how the G614 is inferior? That is such a broad statement. GY had some issues with the tires series the first couple of years. GY stood behind the tires and made good on the repairs. Since then, they have enjoyed a pretty good rating . In a single application, they are rated for 3750# at 110 psig inflation pressure. Our trailer has three 7000# axles and the tires are rated to carry a total of 7500# per axle. The pin weight is close to 4000#, for a trailer total of 19,000#. This leaves 15000# for the three axles, so there is not much chance to overload the axles and chance.
  7. Carlos, I agree. People spread false information and create fear in order to farther their own fears. Ken
  8. Randy, after the latest problem, I called Medicare to file a formal complaint against Optum. UHC and Optum have investigated and only provide empathy and no real solution to their stupidity. I talking to UHC, the supervisor admitted they get a number on complaints on Optum. Ken
  9. A friend just had their 40 ft DRV totaled by a farmer hauling a large tractor on a goose neck trailer. The farmer was ticketed for no trailer brakes, excessive speed, and over weight. Whether the police can pull you over and ticket you for weight should not be your concern. Your concern should be that you are operating within the design limits of your tow vehicle not only for your safety, but the safety of others. Ken
  10. We have had AARP/UHC, plan F, for 6 years and never an issue with it from east to west. The one thing we have a constant issue with is the part D drug plan. UHC is tied to Optum RX and they are a bunch of idiots. Being full timers, we do move around and they are supposed to have noted in out profiles that no medication is to be shipped until we call and confirm an address. They will ship meds to where ever they wish, never mind what address we gave them. This year we will be looking to find coverage that does not use Optum Rx for part D. Ken
  11. Having used a smaller SUV to tow a larger trailer which was within the tow rating and payload rating of the vehicle, I can tell you it is not the best thing to do. One, it strains the vehicles and driving for much distance is tiring. Your Armada does not have a very high payload capacity, so load two adults, 2 kids and a GSD, plus your miscellaneous camping gear in the SUV, you will not have much payload capacity left for the tongue weight on the trailer. Another issue is, I would not go to a 30 ft long RV with the Armada. You cannot use the brochure tongue or hitch weight. It is light. Use about 12% (10% to 15%) of the trailer GVWR to estimate a loaded trailer hitch weight. A 6500# trailer will truthfully have a loaded hitch weight closer to 780#. Personally, I'd feel more comfortable with a 25 to 26 ft trailer and a max GVWR of about 6500 lb. That is my 2 cents worth based on 35 years of RVing and towing. RVing is supposed to be fun and not work. Ken
  12. Here you go..... https://winegard.com/plans/satellite-tv/dish
  13. There are much worse things to worry about other than a cell tower. If the tower is not put up, everyone will complain about poor cell coverage. You cannot have a good signal and no tower. Ken
  14. I like to fish, but being full timers, the nonresident licenses are not good at all....way too much money for the amount of fish you may catch. I will get an annual license if we are going to be there for several months. I have written my useless Congressmen about a senior national fishing license for basic fishing....catfish, perch, crappie, etc. And buy additional stamps for certain game fish in an area that you might be fishing. Not an response from anyone. I like Texas state parks as if you are in the park, you can fish without a permit, provided you are on state property. If in a boat, you need a license. Ken
  15. Just be thankful that Newmar was not bought by Thor, Forrest River, Lippert or Camping World. Ken
  16. G614 Specs According to the GY spec sheets, the tire is rated at 3750 # in a single wheel location. Two these on an axle will give you a load rating of 7500# at 110 psig air pressure.. This will easily support a 7000# rated axle. Ken
  17. TST on all 12 wheels has served me well. Customer service is great. Ken
  18. We have the frameless dual pane windows and so far, the only place I have found that will reseal them is Sun Coast Design near Tampa. Several places will do the regular framed dual panes. It is not cheap, but less than new windows. You can stay on their property with power and water and a dump station. They pull your windows and cover the holes while doing the reseal. Then they reinstall them. They have a lifetime warrant on the repaired windows. Ken
  19. All of the newer thermostats are dedicated to the specific unit. Pretty hard to use any home thermostat in an RV since the control voltage is different. Ken
  20. We were headed to Charleston and Savannah next week. Left NE North Carolina and now at the Charlotte Race with many other refugees. With full time RVing, you plans are always firmly set in Jello. Ken
  21. I found a local farmer that met me at the tire shop that took my 6 tires for use on his hay wagon. I did not have to pay for the tire disposal fee. Ken
  22. Roger, when my wife got the first knee done 11 years go, insurance furnished a CryoCuff. Last year, Medicare would not supply one, so we bought one. This one we are keeping in case I need one. Ken
  23. Hopefully you did get aCryoCuff to keep the knee iced after PT. The CryoCuff was my wife's best friend for several weeks after the surgery. And she iced her knee for a few months after exercise. https://www.amazon.com/Aircast-Therapy-Machine-Cooler-Solution/dp/B075FF137V/ref=sr_1_1?gclid=CjwKCAjwtajrBRBVEiwA8w2Q8JN0tQziAZN_UenQTTvXKNrrN9nObtHtprye8x4bbOhJquuP186G7BoCOtcQAvD_BwE&hvadid=232600393610&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9009808&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t2&hvqmt=e&hvrand=2721291114376821792&hvtargid=kwd-383909862606&hydadcr=8278_9897519&keywords=cryo%2Fcuff+knee&qid=1567261251&s=gateway&sr=8-1 Ken
  24. My wife has had both knees replaces....one 11 years ago and one last year. Her three words of advice are: 1. Take pain meds on a regular schedule. Don't let it start hurting and then take the meds. 2. Get a Cyro Cuff and use it a lot. 3, do your PT religiously. It will take a year until you are near 100%. But after a month you are walking pretty good and use your cane as needed. Ken
  25. The teal cabinets look fine. Ray, you do have to live there. Decorate it the trailer to suit your life. Ken
