  1. Waiting in Mission, TX until we can travel again. Sure wish it was not so hot....100 degF, 102 DegF and 100 degF the past few days. Ken
  2. Dish and Internet is only for stationary installations. You might look at Hughes, but it is pricey. Streaming is not an option for us as we are often in areas with poor to no cell service. Ken
  3. I feel that we have this bug on the run, so why open up too early. These facilities are shut down and let's leave them shut down for 2 to 4 more weeks and make sure we are safe. Ken
  4. I figured there was a baffle to divide supply from return. On the HitchHiker forum, a fellow posted a photo of the install with the unit tipped on edge. Monday, I'll call AirExcel about the control board and thermostat. Hopefully, the control board will be compatible with the current thermostat and the other unit. This is the second unit in the two zone set up. So it is the slave unit. All the wiring goes to the rear unit, then to the front unit. I'll try to get some photos for future reference. I found a mobile tech that will install it. I am just to old to tackle this in the south Texas heat. With the virus, we are hanging out here until we feel safe to travel.
  5. We have a 2013 HitchHiker Champagne with Coleman Polar Mach units which are completely mounted from the roof, ie there is no ceiling assembly ( it is a ducted unit) inside the RV. I have replace many Coleman and Dometic units with the interior ceiling assembly. No having had a Coleman Mach 8 plus apart, how is the match up with the existing ducting? Hope someone has had experience with this swap out. Ken
  6. We had two Avion trailers and both had a unique fix for the problem of shifting clothes. They had a padded bar that would swing down and latch to hold the coat hanger on the rod. Since we have added an eye hook at each end of the closet, mounted slightly behind the center of the clothes rod. We stretch a bungee cord over the clothes to secure them.
  7. Our daughter lives outside of Houston and last week their neighbor had to make an emergency trip back to Louisiana. They reside in Texas and have Texas tags. On the way back from Louisiana, they had to stop at the border and since they had been in Louisiana, the troopers took down their drivers license information and they were told to self quarantine at home and they were subject to checks from the local authorities that they were complying and subject to fines and jail time if they did not. Ken
  8. No wonder people have problems with the black tanks plugging. Ken
  9. This is very disturbing that a health professional would be so careless. We were scheduled to be in Livingston for April, but we cancelled and decided to stay put in the RGV, Texas. Ken
  10. I understand,...hen I yawn or sneeze, bubbles come out. Ken
  11. So, I am dishonest. Many times ordering something online, the ordering system will not accept and address such as 123 Rainbow Dr., #12345. You have to break it down to two lines and often the 2nd line says Apt. So on those I put in 123 Rainbow Dr. 12345 Do what you have to do. Ken
  12. I considered a Chromebook to replace my 6 year old laptop, but after looking at them, I went with a HP with 8GB ram and 256GB SSD. For my use, it is plenty of computer and I can used an external thumb drive or HDD for additional storage. I like the added flexibility of the MS operating system, and I run Chrome for a browser. Ken
  13. Sometimes, their software will not let you put on the address line,,,, 123 Rainbow Dr., #12345. Just list it on the second line as Apt, 12345 and all are happy. Ken
  14. If they ask if that is an apartment, I just tell them ....yes. No additional questions. Ken
  15. SWharton. that is the way things are done in Texas. You want confusion, go to Louisiana, They call the county commissioners the police jury. Ken
  16. 4x4 is 99% i=of what the dealers are ordering for stock, You have to order a 2 wheel drive. Ken
  17. Personally, I would put vacation plans on hold and stay put. Why chance getting COVID19 or spreading it? Ken
  18. I use my Rainbow Dr, address as well. Ken
  19. The towed car and dolly are subject to trailer brake requirements like ant trailer. What will you do if the trailer comes loose and there is not a trailer break away set up. Yes it needs brakes, Ken
  20. Streaming will not work unless you have a decent cell signal and loads of data. Ken
  21. We hosted there a few years back and enjoyed the area and the people. Janice was great. We did work in the visitors center on Sundays but I got to do a lot of grass mowing. Hopefully they have obtained a zero turn mower by now. We were there most of the summer as the only host as the other couple cancelled. Ken
  22. Rather than pick an ethnic designation, I put in Anglo and it was accepted. Our families have been here for decades and are a mix of German, English, Swedish, Irish, a little Native American....that we know of. I guess I could have seen if it would would have taken "Mutt". American Heinz 57 Ken
  23. It is not just the beds being higher. These newer trucks are all 4 wheel drive and have off road packages which makes the whole truck higher. I do not need or want a 4 wheel drive and want a lower height truck. Ken
  24. You can jack up a wheel and start spinning the brake and if the brake is working, you will hear the click and the wheel will stop. If it keeps moving, ....brake is not working.
  25. They are worried about overloading their minimal medical facilities in the area. Alpine is a 17 bed band-aid station and nothing more. Locals have to go to Midland/Odessa for anything more than a scratch. But remember, they sure love your money in good times. Ken
