  1. That is a bit much for your truck. You need to look at the trailer GVWR and not dry weight. Dry weight is just that,,,,no water, no propane, no personal stuff and nothing that is an option on the trailer. To estimate your pin weight, use 20% of the trailer GVWR. The newer truck have a sticker inside the door jamb listing the trucks payload capacity. The payload capacity is the trailer pin weight, passengers, cargo and hitch....all added up has to be less the the payload. Ken
  2. So put about 5 RV related questions up for answers....no answers, no entry. Ken
  3. Your fridge is 13 years old. That is a pretty good life out of a Dometic fridge. If you have internal corrosion causing intermediate problems that are solved but shaking it up for a bit and it works for a few days and stops. It is on it's way out. Give it 24 hours to cool and see if it cools. Ken
  4. I was a site administrator for a large RV site for several years. We started getting so much garbage out of China and Indonesia that we finally blocked all IP addresses from certain countries. Maybe the IT folks can just block all of these Asian IP's. I doubt if any Escapees are based in Asia. Ken
  5. Sounds like you mean your brake light has been broken. Some of the lens just pops off. Look for an indentation that you can use with a flat blade screw driver to pop it loose without breaking it. Ken
  6. You can get bronze wool at most marine supply places. It won't rust like the steel wool. Ken
  7. It all boils down to following the manufacturers instructions. What do they say about mounting and piping. Ken
  8. I personally do not like spending that much time that close to salt water. The salt in the air is hard on the RV...anything metal will corrode or rust. Ken
  9. We have run into a few campgrounds running voltage to the high ens of the range. If they have a weal Neutral, with the Hughes, you can put higher voltage on one leg than the other. This will cause the EMS to shut down on high voltage on one leg. I do not recommend that it stay wired in all of the time. Even when there is no low voltage, the Hughes will boost voltage 2 or 3 volts which may put you over the EMS high limit. Ken
  10. We have camp hosted and volunteered around the country and seen plenty of rental units on the road. The way some folks treat stuff that they do not own is horrible. No way would I ever rent my RV out. Ken
  11. Northeast LA is 80 degrees at 8:25 PM. Time to look for cooler climates. Ken
  12. Check PPL Motorhomes site in Texas. It is a consignment place and has a number of class B's, Ken
  13. I use a quad shielded low loss cable and can use 100 feet on my Wineguard Carryout. Ken
  14. Our standard schnauzer has been attacked 3 times by off leash aggressive dogs. I now carry a 5 foot long maple walking stick and a pepper spray. Keep you animals on leash and away from me or suffer the pain. Ken
  15. I agree with Kirk. Ken
  16. Anyone can add a sticker or note in a brochure that calls a camper a 4-Season unit. They are not all created equally for insulation. Also be very leary of any so-called 1/2 ton towables. The ratings are often based on a base weight trailer and a stripped base model truck. Ken
  17. It just takes one or two idiots to ruin it for everyone. Ken
  18. I did not see any bore and stroke information. Probably an "over square" or long stroke which generally tend to develop torque at a lower RPM. People were always complaining about the V-10 having to rev so high to get the power they needed, maybe they will be happier with a lower reving engine. Ken
  19. MrTrux...we had to call Austin and talk to a fellow and he said no way we needed CDLs for our RV. He gave me his direct line and said to have the testing office call him and he would explain it to the clerk. They had to call and we got the plain Class A test. Ken
  20. If you do not use the tow bar pin locks, you do need to check the pins after every stop that you were away from the RV and dinghy. You have some less than intelligent folks that like to pull the pins as they think it is funny. I agree with Kirk in that you do want to be able to get the dinghy unhitch and back in an emergency. 21. We have been happy with the cell phone based system by MarCell. https://www.sensoredlife.com/#/
  22. Personally, I'd go with the Honda EU series of any others due to the wide availability of service for them if you ever need service. Yes you pay more, but you get peace of mind. Ken
  23. Been happy with our WeBoost RV cell booster. Check our TechnoRV for offerings and articles. Ken
  24. TPMS saved me ruining a tire on the dually. Picked up a large nail and the tire alarm went off after about 15 minutes on the road. 30 minutes earlier the tires were fine. Pulled over and outside tire was flat as the TPMS had said, Put on the spare and continued. If the TPMS had not alarmed, I would have continued with a flat and an over loaded tire until it failed. They are well worth the money. I have had two other TPMS, but the TST, Truck Systems Technologies is the best. The TPMS will not prevent a blow out if you hit something. Ken
