Joel, I think my Visible plan is somewhat unique in allowing unlimited data, when using my phone as a hotspot. The data part attracted me, because I was interested in a back-up hot spot (along with being my only voice account) for $25 a month. I've tested Visible a few times, with SpeedTest, and also downloaded some very large files. Visible at my home, seems to be about the same as my Verizon hotspot post-paid account. But latency for the Visible account is typically over 100 ms. I just tried it and SpeedTest reported the site was connected to was in Phoenix (I'm in CT). That may be a killer for some folks. Lot's of valid perspectives have been expressed in this thread. And most of them seem to boil down to different perspectives about what full-timing in an RV by the person asking the question. If this question comes up again, why not focus on clarifying what the person means/desires/expects first? Without knowing the intention of the person who asked the question, debates about the "right perspective" may be interesting, but appear to be futile. 🙂 Time to move on?

I agree with you. If MS reconsiders, and decides to allow Kaby Lake processors, I'll probably install Windows 11 on both of my frequently used systems. MS knows that significant changes to their user interface is a double edged sword. The new version will probably be more attractive to those who haven't used Windows before. But for most existing Windows users, it's likely to be disruptive. IMO, when it becomes clear, that the adoption rate for Windows 11, is well below Microsoft's internal plan, our orphan systems will become worthy for Windows 11 🙂

I have a laptop (Thinkpad T470) that meets all of the requirements (including TPM 2), but it's a Kaby Lake processor, so doesn't appear that it will be supported. I also have a slightly newer tower system that meets all the Windows 11 published requirements, and it has a Coffee Lake processor. It appears that it will be supported. But there doesn't appear to be any significant difference between Kaby Lake and Coffee Lake processors, other than the number of cores. I also have two older mini-PCs running Windows 10 that have Skylake CPUs. The CPU generation requirements don't have anything to do with technology requirements. This appears to be all about marketing. Since Windows upgrades for existing systems have become free, Microsoft's OS profit motivation is tied to new systems, which do provide revenue to MS. The new systems are ideally from new users, hence the focus on an easier to use interface. But many, probably most, existing Windows users, won't find much benefit from an "easier to use", but different, user interface. For most of them, it will be more of a hassle than a benefit. But MS doesn't want to support two operating systems. So what do they do? They use arbitrary technical details to encourage the purchase of new systems, and reduce their expense for supporting Windows 10. There's nothing about the Windows 11 user interface changes that I'm lusting for. So I won't be migrating to Windows 11 in the near future. More importantly, IMO, neither will most corporations that have standardized on Windows for their employees.

Zulu, I agree with Bill and am adding an additional aspect. The principal purpose of your post appears to be, to spark tribal warfare. The video links only accentuate that. Apple's proprietary ARM derivative appears to be a very good implementation. But it's certainly not revolutionary. I despise over regulation, but IMO, this isn't: "Be respectful. Joel, That was very informative (as usual). I have a 16,000 gain water softener which I have not used yet. And I too have an on-board washer. But there's only 1 of me, so the frequency of back-flushing and salt replacement will be less. I also have a 40lb bag of Potassium Chloride which I'm curious about. So although, I'm still curious about TAC filters, since I already have a water softener, the benefits don't seem large enough (for me) to change yet. I may end up with a TAC filter for moderate to soft water and only use my water softener where the water is very hard (I do have a test kit). Thank you very much!

Ah, come-on gals and guys. Vibration in the living space, while driving is dependent on it's suspension, it's frame and for trailers, how it is connected to its truck. My huge diesel truck's suspension is air with shock absorbers for every wheel, and my hitch is supported by 4 air bags and has two connecting it to my trailer is air. And my 5th wheel trailer has a 6 wheel independent suspension (https://www.morryde.com/products/independent-suspension-system/) that is equal to or better than the motor home anyone on this forum has, or had. Living space vibration is not a generic motor home vs trailer debate.

According to Watts' ad copy: "Virtually maintenance free for up to 3 years". To me, a couple of years between changes sounds great. I vaguely recall folks replacing metal pipes in a sticks and bricks because of insufficient water flow. But, I can't recall anyone replacing their plex lines in an RV because of scale buildup. Have any of you on this forum had a problem with scale buildup in your plex tubing?

The idea seems to be that a TAC filter could be a substitute for a water softener and require much less attention (salt replacement and back-flushing). That sounds attractive to me. But one recent review of a TAC filter on Amazon gives me more than a pause, it seems to disqualify a TAC filter as substitute for a traditional water softener. Interesting article. But I think the author suffers from premature speculation. "Would I buy a diesel-anything today? As a friend of mine in the legislature told me, Only as a short-term waste of your money.” For the vast majority of goods in the US, the last leg in the delivery chain is a diesel truck. Will that change? Probably. But probably over a period of decades, not years. Well before any transition is 80% complete, I'm likely to be dead. It's also interesting to me, that the author focused on diesel, rather than petroleum fuel. IMO, the erosion of vehicle value and increase of ownership costs for diesel and gasoline will be similar. For us old folks, the sky is not falling .

I scanned quite a few Amazon reviews and it appears the 20x20 screens reduce the number of no-see-ums, but do not totally prevent them. Still, if I were plagued by them, I might overlay an existing screen, that was a source of intrusion, and see if the reduction was good enough. Perfect is the enemy of the good 🙂

DEET works well to repel most insects, and I still occasionally use 3M's 34% cream version (that lasts up to 12 hours). But I prefer picaridin, which seems to work just as well. I buy an 8 oz bottle of 10% permithrin from Amazon and dilute it for the intended application. The photos were a little blurry, but "SDSA1175" appears to be a surge protector, not a converter. And I agree with everyone else, those three 30 amp shore power sockets were likely additions from someone else other than Teton. In your post just below this one, you included a link to the specs for your rig. With a 10 KW generator, my guess is that the three 30 amp sockets in your picture were to power other trailers or equipment. But I don't understand "I need power". It appears you were getting power from the generator before it failed. Most 5th wheel trailers have a shore power socket or cord at the rear of the trailer. Do you have one?

All pins on my devices (a Mobley and an AC adapter) are numbered. Pat & Pete's pin-out diagram is for the female side (the Mobley itself). For the male side (the power plug), the top pins are numbered 1 to 8 (left to right) and bottom row of pins are numbered 9 to 16. You only need to connect 2 pins (chassis ground and power). The chassis ground pin is the forth pin from the left on the top row. The 12v power pin is the last pin (far right) on the bottom row. I know this because my AC adapter only has metal connections in those two locations and it works well. I wasn't able to find a current draw spec for the Mobley, but one post claimed that it was about 800 ma. If so, that's more than female USB 1 and 2 ports are designed to handle. The USB 3 (usually blue color instead of black) allows up to 900 ma (0.9 amps). That maybe why Bigjim's AC adapter sometimes worked better than his USB adapter.
