  1. Lou, I get the fact, that some on this forum have paid for it, and others are free-riders. But to me, any post that provides useful information is welcome. Dutch_12078's post was very informative, IMO.
  2. I honestly do not understand. The only interpretation I've been able to come up with, is that current dues paying members opinions, should be more important that life-time members. That could be an interesting discussion. If that was not your intent, who are you positioning due-paying members against?
  3. If you haven't already, please consider registering your opinion about the new stuff (badges) here: https://www.rvnetwork.com/topic/142423-bad-post/ The "bad post" part is my fault - just ignore it. I haven't changed "bad-post" so something else because I was afraid it might break the link.
  4. Nope. That's not the way it actually works. Invision makes it easy to disable the badges. Escapees IT folks have complete control.
  5. It turns out that it appears that the Escapees company can disable the Badges if they want to . Please consider expressing your opinion about the Badges in this poll: https://www.rvnetwork.com/topic/142423-whats-your-opinion-about-the-new-badges/ P.S. It appears this thread has been edited. A snarky post removed. But one casualty didn't make any sense to me. So, I want to make it clear, that Dutch_12078, is the one who found the link to the Invision information about a free plugin. It enables admins to easily disable Badges, if they want to.
  6. Dutch, that's great news. It's been many years since I spoke to the Escapees Forum IT folks. I think Kirk is probably the best path. But if for some reason, he doesn't want to pursue this, I will. Thank You! P.S. Quoting from the link Dutch posted: "This plugin will let you customize the badge displayed below the profile photos of new members when viewing a topic. You can easily change the icon, change how long a member should be considered new, or disable the badge completely.
  7. It appears, based on Dutch's post below, you are mistaken.
  8. No one appears to like the new Member badges. Please remove this "feature", or at least, enable each of us to opt out. https://www.rvnetwork.com/topic/142385-new-rankings-by-name/ And here is a link to a quick poll on the subject: https://www.rvnetwork.com/topic/142423-whats-your-opinion-about-the-new-badges/
  9. I just did. Thanks, but no big deal for me.
  10. Sort of. Your perspective seems to come from your experience as a Weekend Moderator. I know virtually nothing about how Escapees forums or website work internally/operationally. My perspective comes from extensive experience on how systems work, and organizations use them. Our difference in perspectives about "website" are just a different use jargon - not right or wrong. For my use of the term, the Escapees Forums are also a website, because the content is delivered to users over the web. So, do I know more about the technology - yes. Do you know more about how it is used for the Escapees forum - yes. ๐Ÿ™‚
  11. The primary way to ban a user ID used to be to move their ID from the Member Group to the Banned Group. That way, if the admin decided to let them back in (along with all of their past posts, PMs, people who viewed their profile etc), they just moved their ID back to the Member Group. There's now a newer admin option to do all types of banning (e.g. ID, ip-address, privileges ...) from a single screen that doesn't involve moving their ID. "IP.Board now supports a true "banned member" status, separate from their actual user group. This means you can ban a member without moving them into another group (for instance, if you do not want to upset the user's friends on your board). The ban management panel will also allow you to move the user to another group (e.g. the "Banned" group included by default with the IP.Board installation routine). You can also ban the user's email address and username right from the popup window." https://invisioncommunity.com/news/product-updates/2480-ipb3-banned-user-management/
  12. Yes, I did remove my email address from my profile, after starting this thread. I don't think it was his choice not to be listed. The way it used to work (and I suspect still does) is that when someone is banned, an admin moves them from the Members list to the Banned Users list. The Banned list used to be visible, but I can't seem to find it. The reason I know he was banned is because it says so right under his name in his profile at: https://www.rvnetwork.com/profile/62894-nammedevac-70/
  13. In some ways, I feel for him. But his constant self promotion quickly became irritating to me. Anyway, I agree.
  14. Thanks for the idea. If he persists, which I don't expect, I will.
  15. When I joined Escapees 25 years ago, I don't think the forum supported private messages. In any case, I have removed my email address from my profile.
  16. I wasn't clear. He's already banned.
  17. Your exposure is all about CA, not FL. "If we utilize a CA professional, CA will use that relationship to demonstrate that we are still CA residents and will continue to try and tax us accordingly. " Nonsense. You are getting poor advice.
  18. My profile has a section entitled: Contact Methods which has my email address. Yours, and mptjelgin's profile does not. I suspect he copied my email address from my Escapees account".
  19. I just received this. No big deal, but it's the first time, that I know of, that I've received spam from an Escapees forum user. I suspect he targeted a small number of escapees for his email, so realistically, there's not much Escapees website administrators can to to prevent similar future incidents. So my suggestion is to please make sure that william perkins is permanently banned. -------------------------- Here's the text without the graphics : For your enjoyment From: william perkins (medevac1971@gmail.com) To: my email address Date: Tuesday, July 6, 2021, 8:05 PM EDT The China and Communist news network This is the anti American communist SOB in charge of our Army troops I had fun with you bullies on the RV forum. Now back to camping and fishing. HA!!!
  20. I was a successful salesman for part of my career. I only had one account (UCLA) for about 5 years. Understanding what my customer really wanted was a key requirement before I made a recommendation. And of course earning and maintaining trust. I suspect these attributes are important to good pastors too. We appear to have something in common. ๐Ÿ™‚
