  1. Pretty small risk of damage to the transport trailer. Solid steel frame, built to be pushed on. Only thing that far back is lights, tires and mudflaps. The insurance will buy all new of those, I'd bet he pulled ahead shortly after the pic was taken, anyways. It is, or was, a tandem travel trailer.
  2. Construction zone speed limits only work when everyone slows down. I've heard about a 30 mph differential: That transport would be close to 140k lbs. loaded. I doubt he felt much more than a bump.
  3. You guys realize you're discussing what's likely a spammer, right? Never click on links in a first time poster.
  4. Time to practice tight maneuvers with your rig. 30 foot is relatively small for a fifth wheel.
  5. Take this time to produce some dissertations that have been placed on the back burner due to time constraints. There has to be some projects you haven't done write-ups on. Beyond that, take some personal time for introspection, Professor.
  6. Looking at it on Google Maps, it looks like the roads in the campground are fairly sweeping and free of trees. Don't know about the road there.
  7. The cost is dependent on the province or territory you are entering Canada through. Instead of using a website like ezbordercrossing, go straight to the horse. Here's the official Canadian Border Services website, which states: " If the amount of alcohol you want to import exceeds your personal exemption, you will be required to pay the duty and taxes as well as any provincial or territorial levies that apply. Contact the appropriate provincial or territorial liquor control authority for more information beforeyou return to Canada." Some provinces and territories have Provincial Sales Taxes, which all vary. All charge the Federal Goods and Services (GST) tax, which is 5%.
  8. Joys of Customer Service.
  9. Impossible to say. Whistlers is the closest to Jasper townsite, but there are overflow spots at most parks. Just as an FYI, the Ice Fields Parkway also offers 100 spots on a FCFS basis. Granted, it's in a parking lot, and surrounded by ice and snow.
  10. After Labor Day, the crowds always thin out. Just the nature of the beast. There is drive-up sites in most of the parks in the area, but you need to be in there early (before lunch) to get them. Plan to stay somewhere close the night before, to get packed up and travel and get there. Mount Robson is a great park an hour west of Jasper, Hinton has a KOA, an hour east of the park. Whistlers campground is closed this year for a facelift, and they had a large overflow area, also closed.
  11. We like the multi-coloured ones best, the outlined ones to the left next, the other 2 are a wash.
  12. Depends on where you want to put it. As an avatar, you will need to shrink it down. As a signature, I think the link above will work. For general use, the above link definitely works.
  13. Ian, that's what a Trailer Saver looks like when it's on it'slast legs. Time to start saving up.
  14. Some gauges are calibrated to read in thousands of pounds load. Otherwise, known weights, a loader to move them around, and some time.
  15. Hasn't been so far. Our Canadian Costco Mastercard was refused again last winter. Unless this is a new development.
  16. No chance of motorhome, no chance of Private Truck. Commercial truck only. Probably with a CDL to accompany it. High registration fees, high insurance.
  17. They're very happy to take your fee money, if that's what you mean. As far as registration, they're not particularly.
  18. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. More times, if needed. There isn't a board member here that needs to worry about chains. The skill level isn't there to drive with them on, never mind install them properly so they don't tear up the rig. Even installed properly, there's a knack to driving with them on. You can tear a driveline up if your too aggressive, they wear tires faster,. Professional drivers up here get paid extra, if the have to chain up, there's a reason for that. You won't be installing them in a clean, dry, well lit area. Rather, you'll be on the side of the road, with traffic jostling for the same spot you're in, to place or remove the chains. Pay attention to the weather, be ready to pull over and spend some time waiting. You think waiting is boring? Wait until you're sitting in a wreck, waiting on the tow truck. Talk to your local body shop for big rigs, ask them what a typical jackknife repair runs. Your truck repair will be lower, because your trailer isn't as hard or heavy as a freight trailer, but your trailer repairs will be way higher.
  19. Feeling adventurous? With the exchange rate, a Canadian shop can save you a bundle. The contact link to the shop that built our bed is in our footnotes.
  20. Confession time. Our kids were too old when IM and texting took off, and with too much oilpatch exposure, the first time I seen it, my (dirty) mind went to "fornicate an object, fornicate you".
  21. Sigh. For the older generation, Fixed That For You. Hahaha!
  22. Not the first time someone has sniffed down their nose at the blue collar crowd, and it won't be the last, Glenn. Just wish we could all make our way with a tie firmly in place.
