I've been using a SpotX since 2019, upgraded from a Spot for our Alaska trip. It has worked everywhere we've tried it. I typically just activate it when we're traveling.

Propane is at a higher pressure than natural gas so it will cause problems, possibly a fire. Look for a propane residential range.

Back in the day when I worked 7/7 offshore I was in a book of the month club. Had tons of hardback sci-fi books. Sadly over the years and especially when we went full-time I had to get rid of them. Asimov, Andre Norton, PK Dick were some of my favorites. But of all of those the ones I truly miss are the classic novels I grew up with: Tom Sawyer, Huck, Treasure Island. Always take a picture with your phone or camera of the map at the trailhead. And consider carrying something like a Spot device to call for help when you get in trouble. A Spot or other satellite device could save your life and get help to you quickly.

We had the same need to be available as you Bill. We chose to buy a SpotX text messenger. The service plans are reasonable and it allowed us to stay in touch while on our Alaska trip.

CO is different than CO2. Mars has a different environment than earth.

Since Dometic now owns Atwood, not sure if they have changed or will continue to produce the Atwood units. Some friends who bought the Atwoods before the buyout were very pleased with the performance and low noise. Best feature was the 2 separate fans, compressor and blower, since the blower could run continuously. So IF Dometic hasn't changed the Atwood design I'd look closely at it.

The hike from the parking lot at Horseshoe Bend is through deep loose sand, so a bit difficult. Years ago we took a small guided hike to Canyon X. Just 4 of us and an elderly guide. Awesome to see and experience the canyon without the crowds. Not sure how it is today but then it was a moderately difficult hike down into and back up the canyon.

Depends on which Victron unit you're trying to set up. BMV-712 has bluetooth so you can set it up like that. I just installed a Multiplus 3000 and used the MK-3 to program it with since it doesn't have bluetooth.

Another thing to look for with an older coach is an active owners forum. I've owned 2 Newells and now have an older Foretravel. Both have very active owners forums with most of the info you'll ever need readily available online. Much better than some of the Facebook groups where you have to ask a question then wait for others to answer then filter through the incorrect answers.

No, we do not love ethanol. Ethanol was forced onto the American public by our gov't. listening to enviros. Ethanol is a boondoggle that has resulted in the price of foodstuffs to rise, fuel economy and fuel costs to rise. Now if ethanol were replaced with methanol (we do have the technology now to overcome the problems with meth.) it would make more sense. Methanol can be produced from waste products.
