  1. I've always just turned the water pump on when using water. Off all other times. Had a friend who was driving to a great boondock spot and figured he could stay a week or longer. Unknown to him his wife had left the bathroom faucet slightly running. Yep, got to his spot, set up, went to take a shower and the water tank was about empty. And the waste tank was about full. Had to find a place to dump and fill. And lost his spot!
  2. We may be putting our Roadtrek on consignment soon. But our insurance says they do not cover it while on a dealer's consignment lot. How have others done this?
  3. Deezl I feel your pain. At our cabin where we spend over half the year it is getting more difficult to get a package delivered to us. We're 5 miles from Hwy 50 right where the construction has been ongoing for the 3rd year on a 2 year project. Before this Fedex and UPS would deliver to our cabin. Now we're lucky to get a delivery within 5+ days. Fedex and UPS solution is to put lock boxes at the highway and deliver there. This means an hour for us to get a package when it is marked as delivered. Problem is that it marked as delivered doesn't mean it is actually in the lockbox. Sometimes it is a day or two later. This applies to Amazon and other deliveries through Fedex/UPS. And if it happens to go by USPS then that's 20 miles down the highway to wait on the little post office to open, it's usually late to open. And it's only open half a day. Some people will say just have it delivered to an Amazon lockbox in town. Ok, that's an hour each way. But since I'm paying for delivery to my cabin I want it delivered to my cabin.
  4. I agree and sometimes felt that 45mph was too fast. You always have to be watching for frost heaves and be ready to quickly slow down, quickly! There are numerous stories of people pulling trailers tearing up the suspension since they couldn't tell how badly the trailer was hitting the heaves. In a motorhome you will know how bad they are!
  5. I'll never replace my DSLR with my phone. Yes, I have my phone with me usually and will use it to take snapshots. But there is NO comparison between my DSLR and my phone. Just look at the distortion in many phone pictures. Hands and arms and legs that are out of proportion with the rest of the body? Won't get that with my DSLR. I'm always amused when someone posts a picture of a fisherman and the fish looks HUGE. And the hand also looks HUGE.
  6. Any pictures or link? We have a Polaris Ranger with cab and heater we use at our Colorado cabin. It'll go anywhere with the tracks but due to gearing it cuts your speed in half.
  7. Can't be any worse than some of the conversations I see on different forums. Some things people write are completely non-understandable.
  8. So they're charging you $2000++ for labor? Glad I did my own. 2 Jeep Liberty's, 2 Chevy trucks, 1 Tahoe, 1 Lexus. Not a difficult job if you're handy.
  9. I'd love to have oak at my CO cabin, usually burn aspen. Just not worth the gas to haul it.
  10. I have a pair of Bose hearphones and use them occasionally. Too bad Bose discontinued them rather than improving them. Bulky since the earbuds are wired to the headband but harder to lose I guess. I need to find an app that will allow my phone to act as the speakers to pick up voices, etc. and send that to the hearphones via bluetooth.
  11. Wish Samsung would have this feature. I tried their newest earbuds on my S22 and couldn't find that feature that would amplify from my phone. Maybe in the next upgrade.
  12. And the M1 and I presume the M2 chips can also run iPhone and iPad apps. My MacBook Pro with M1 is nice as I can watch my Wyze cameras and other stuff.
  13. Wonder if these battery factories will build batteries from raw components or just assemble the cells imported from China. Good to see new factories here in the planning stages.
  14. Shreveport to Foley is more like 7+ hours. Enjoy your trip!
  15. I'm assuming this is film? If so good luck, you might have better luck at fredmiranda.com. You'll have to pay to list it there. Or https://photography-on-the.net. Or https://www.mpb.com/en-us I tried selling my Minolta film setup years ago and had no luck so ended up donating it to a local university for their photography classes.
  16. A friend offered this simple way to stop others from bothering him when he's hooking up or working on something. Just say in a loud distinct commanding voice: standby!
  17. While in Alaska we had a reserved campsite at the Teklanika campsite in Denali. We drove the 36' Foretravel into the park. Got to the campsite and drove around looking for a site we would fit in. Waited a few hours hoping someone would vacate a site big enough. Finally I decided to take the only site we'd hopefully fit in. My DW and I discussed what I'd have to do to manuveur into the site. It took about 20 minutes of easing in, pulling up, turning sharply, getting out and looking, but I finally got into our site. Got settled and sat out to relax. A fellow camper walked over and complimented me saying he thought he was sure I wouldn't fit.
  18. May not be on your preferred route but Tatum, NM and Denver City, TX have free campgrounds. Or at least they did a few years ago. And second Dumas, TX for a free campground. We always stay north of Dallas through Gainseville and Paris, TX. Good roads with some 2 lane sections. In Nocona there is a nice campground behind the Veranda Inn with pullthroughs. In Parix there are sites at the Eiffel Tower.
  19. boomerbenefits is pretty good at recommending plans. Not sure they'll understand fulltime RV living but can guide you to a plan that should work anywhere.
  20. Can these (especially the small ones Vlad mentioned above) start a vehicle? If so they'd be interesting to me. If not then they are just a more expensive version of what I already have.
  21. We bought a Lazy Daze 24' specifically for our 2019 Alaska trip. But after a 2 month trip we sold it and bought our 36' FT. The LD was too small, especially in water/waste capacity, and the fuel range was only 300 miles. So we would have been looking for gas and needing water/dump every couple days. There was no place we couldn't fit our 36' FT, and a 40' would have not been a problem either. About Lazy Daze while they might be better built than lots of other brands they are nowhere near the quality of your FT. If you're thinking of something smaller then consider a class B or even buying a van and adding a bed and toilet. Saw lots of those on our trip. We may take our Roadtrek on another trip up there but plan to use hotels and VRBO, AirBNB's occasionally.
  22. My opinion is at my age and because I don't buy a new anything I'll probably never buy an EV. But the main reason I'm not for the EV revolution is I don't like the politicization. If the industry and economy goes that way then that's fine. But don't try to force-feed us into it. Especially since it's not a well thought out plan with the infrastructure. (I'm talking about our government and media and not anyone in particular, so don't take my opinions as a personal attack)
  23. But would crab boil cause problems with the shells?
  24. And don't forget cars with vacuum operated wipers. I'll never forget my buddy pulling out to pass someone in his Rambler in a rain. Hey, stick your head out the window and let me know if someone's coming!
