Howdy Jon,

Those are some nice looking seats.  My local Peterbilt dealer is about worthless carries next to nothing other then what is needed for the simplest maintenance.  I did stop in at the local Freightliner shop today and they have a very nice selection of National brand seats, one called the Commodore has just about every type of adjustment you could ask for on a seat about 1,000 dollars per seat with out shipping.  I asked if they could give me an out the door price a pair with the low seat brackets and any adapters that might be needed to install them in the Pete, I will make darn sure I am sitting down before he gives me the price.

Dave

Dave you might check Motor truck in Everett last time i was in there they had some seats on display. Kenworth in Marysville has some on sale right now not sure what brand they are.

Dave try looking at Seat-Specialist, they only sell seats and have a good selection. We are lucky enough to be only 30 miles from there distribution center.  We tried all the truck stops and dealers to no avail.  We wound up with Knoedler Air Chiefs, which are made in Canada.  With the Base, leather, standard lumbar and 1 inch of memory foam they came in around 1700 with tax.  Seats are like shoes they are a personal choice and  not a one size fits all, make sure you sit in the seats you wind up purchasing.

Good luck

Howdy Dan,

Thanks for the tip, I know where Motor Truck, is located in Everett, are you talking about the Kenworth shop behind Donna's truck stop west side of I-5, north end of Marysville?

Howdy Bob,

I won't buy a seat unless I can sit in it or one like the one I would be ordering, way to much money to take a chance on for me.  Problem is there just isn't much to look at around my area.

Yes that's the one but I think the seats have to come from a warehouse because they don't have any in the store. The flyer that I saw I think price was 650.00 or 750.00 but it's hard to try them out when they don't have any to sit in.

Howdy All,

I talked to Dave, at Seating Specialties, he suggested this seat with the low mount, NO adapter needed, $2,000 out the door to ship a pair of these to me. click this link,  https://www.seat-specialists.com/products/prime-seating-300c.html

Seems like a lot of seat for the money from the research I have done, they make a heated version with adjustable shock for a bout a hundred bucks more.  Thinking real hard about these seats.  Has anyone had any experience with this brand of seat?

Howdy DesertMiner,

I will be doing a lot of measuring BEFORE I order seats.

Are you implying that some of us have a "wide base?"

Well, after all, most of us are in out "metallic years", when we have silver in our hair, gold in our teeth, and lead in our, um, bases.

Howdy Ricky,

Both you and DesertMiner have missed your calling, should have been comedians. 😁

My "base" isn't that wide, in fact I wish I could move some fat from my belly and transfer to me arse so the bones didn't protrude that would make sitting down on hard chairs and driving long distances much easier.  Now that I have new knees maybe I should look into big butt injections.😮

Just don't settle on one that you thing should be good enough. I got a cheap one for  our old Kenworth. 6 months later it got another new seat. It didn't wear out it was just the most uncomfortable seat I ever seen.

Dave,  Are there any Big Rig Truck Shows in your area where you could give your backside a test ride?  The Midwest has a show in Louisville Ky (Mats) maybe there is a similar show on the West Coast.  Jack Mayer or Dave from Deep Space Lighting might know of a similar show in your area.

Howdy Jon,

There really isn't much to look at locally, I am pretty much stuck with ordering something and hoping for the best.  My seats look good but the bottom cushion in just wore out, wouldn't take much to be an improvement.  My truck has 1.6 million miles on it probably the original seats.

Howdy Bob,

There are a few, but so far away 800-1,000 miles its not worth the fuel to go there.

I know this is a silly question, but have you looked into just buying new seat cushions?  Perhaps your friendly Pete dealer has them in stock.

Howdy Ricky,

I really don't like the seats that are in the truck, they don't have any armrests and they don't till back as far as I would like them to, and they sit to high.  From the quotes I have gotten locally by the time these issues were addressed I could buy new seats.

Dave, it sounds like you might be rushing this a bit!  Just wait and put some of these truck stops / chrome shops in your travel route when you leave next time.  The one I found down in Phil country had a good selection, good price, free installation, and paid me for my old seats.

Howdy Rocky,

I don't hardly ever travel east of the Mississippi River, so most of the truck shops I have heard of would be way off from my usual travels, going to the National HDT Rally, is about as far east as I care to travel.  By "Phil country" I am assuming you mean Texas, I have and will be doing some wandering in Texas in the future could you give some more information on the shop your talking about, thanks.

Chrome World bought out Chrome Shop of Houston.  It is off #10 in Baytown, TX (houston).

Don't know a single thing about them.

Howdy Rocky,

Thanks, I have decided to order a pair of Prime 400C with heat, no adapters needed to install them in my truck, come with the low mount and more adjustments then I can honestly see a reason for.

Dave I put Bostrom in my Kenworth. The shop in Tulalip was having a good sale but did not have a ton in stock. He sent me to the International dealer just up the road in Mount Vernon. They had a good selection on the floor. We sat in all of them. Glad we did cause what I thought I wanted we did not like. They had all of them on bases with air to try. That was a couple years ago but might be worth a trip as it’s not far from you.
