Charlie & Mike -- What spot are you in at Lake Minden and when would be a good day/time for me to stop by and say "howdy"??

Barb & Dave -- It IS amazing on how fast the first year has gone by! Congratulations on your annual marker.

Jeff & Suzanne -- Just returned from the annual diabeties check (eyes, feet & H1C) at the VA in Livermore, CA. Type II is still under control. Good luck to you!!

Duane & Louise -- Love the pictures! I'm totally green with envy!

Greetings to all.....

We are in the most beautiful spot - right on the Fox River, huge trees, lots of birds and squirrels (much to Madison's delight). Anyone who ever get to Algonquin, IL should look up Buffalo Park - one of the Kane County Forest Preserves. Jeff has his medical appointments on Monday and then we'll see if we can stay here the whole two weeks. It's Gorgeous!

Steve - glad to hear your checkups were good - here's hoping everyone is well!

Hello All.

It is so good to hear of all the fun everyone is having in our exciting new lifestyle, especially the Alaskan travelers. Hope Jeff's foot is dealt with promptly and successfully. And thanks again to Vogelly and to Rick and Carol and to Steve for a specially good time at the Spring Escapade.

Keith and I have been in the PNW for a while, mostly working with Air Photo. They are a good outfit. We can work a couple weeks, then take off to wherever we like and maybe find some more work for a couple weeks if we want to. We spent the last two weeks near La Conner WA. That is just the cutest little town I have yet seen icon_cool.gif Sailboats, fishing boats, veggies growing all over, windmills, and Mt. Baker presiding over all. The San Juan Islands are so romantic.

But it is time to leave. Next we are working near Spokane for a couple weeks then exploring Glacier National Park. Will anyone else be there around July 6?

Keep Safe --

This is so great......

Hi all. Sounds like everyone is having fun. We are having a fabulous time in SD. We have met up with Bill & Helen and it's been great. This is our first trip through the Badlands and the Black Hills. It is an amazing adventure.

Jeff, we hope all goes well with your Dr. appts.

Barb & Dave....conratulations on your first year. It does go so quickly. We are almost there, also.

Charlie and Mike....you are in our thoughts.

We are at Beaver Lake Campground in Custer. It's very pretty and perfect spot for adventuring out. This area is incredible. We are here until the 24th, then on to Devils Tower and Yellowstone.

If you are in the area, let us know. Bill and Helen are here, and we are expecting Bob & Jan on Sunday. It doesn't get much better.

Safe travels, everyone. icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif

Thanks again to all for your well wishes! icon_biggrin.gif My podiatrist appointment is Monday the 18th. . .can't wait to find out what gives for the long term! icon_confused.gif It is unseasonably hot here. . .it's cooler in Texas where we just came from!!! icon_redface.gif Oh well. . .it's beautiful here on the bank of The Fox River. Suzanne bought me a non-resident fishing license for Father's Day so I can learn fly fishing; and, a great blue heron nearby has caught 100% more fish than I have...darn him!!!!!!! icon_mad.gif Oh well. icon_cool.gificon_wink.gificon_razz.gif

Hey Everyone,

Winchester Bay was made all that much better this year by visits from our Class of '06 friends....Barb and Dave, and very briefly, Steve. Location is certainly everything in this case...North Bend/Coos Bay and Bandon to the south and Florence to the north. There is a lot to do in the area particularly if folks love the outdoors.

I would certainly add our current location to the list of travel highlights. Eagle Nest RV Resort in Polson, MT, is reasonably priced, very clean, and folks here are extraordinarily friendly. Although Juanita and I don't golf, the adjacent course is beautiful and golfers in the park really enjoy it. The park is located within a mile of a WalMart and Safeway, so shopping is no problem. Just north of 50 mile long Flathead Lake you can find a lot of activities in Kalispell, Big Fork, and Glacier NP. Missoula is a 1.5 hour drive to the south if you need the "big city" life.

We are leaving this beautiful park on Sunday and will spend two months at one of our favorite destinations in the country, Red Rock RV Park near Island Park, Idaho. This park is located just 22 miles south of West Yellowstone and 5 miles off Hwy 20. If anyone is in the area before our Sept 4 departure, be sure to stop in and say hi. Our Dutch oven is always ready for ribs, roasts, or other delights!! icon_smile.gif

Everyone have a great summer and safe travels all,

Gordon and Juanita

Hi All,

We are leaving Crescent City Cal. tomorrow heading north, and stumbled on your discussion on Winchester Bay. Sounds real good to us so we'll try to get a reservation there in the morning. WE tried this afternoon but it was too late.

Were going to stop in that area anyway so that would fit our plans great, only wish some of our classmates would be there too. Haven't met any of ya'll yet. Maybe next winter in the RGV!

Happy travels everyone,

Hey all

Spent the weekend at a gold mine where they were having a prospecting show and competition in Girdwood, Alaska. Had a great time. Entered the metal detecting competition and won a special minted coin. Won a 1/3 once gold nugget in a drawing. We are in Palmer for a few days resting up before we head to Fairbanks. Drive safe everyone.

Hey Neil, Sheri & Ciera. . .good to hear from you. WOW! Duane & Louise...I'm so-o-o jealous! I'd love to acquire a 1/3 oz gold nugget!!! Thanks to all of our 06'er friends' well wishes, The VA Medical Facility at The Great Lakes Naval Training Center came thru with flying colors!!! I had six X-rays done on my feet to establish a baseline; and, I have to see the podiatrist in three months for further evaluation. Apparently, my Charcot's Joint condition is in the earlier stages; and, doesn't require a boot or cast at this time. The podiatrist said I can do limited walking; which shouldn't worsen my condition. . .he said it may improve it. It is still painful to walk, so, we'll see. My primary care PA referred me to an endocrinologist and a diabetic nutritionist for further consultation; and, initially they haven't ruled out an insulin pump; but, they also thought switching me to Lantus insulin might also be an option. The good news is I have a appointment next week with the endocrinologist to have an in depth evaluation. I couldn't even get the Ft. Worth or Dallas VA to even refer me to any diabetic specialists. . .and that is my service connected disability. Go figure!!! Anyhow, we will be Illinois "residents" until probably October. We will try to work in some acting if we can while we are here; and, if we don't get any gigs, we'll check out upper Wisconsin and Michigan in between doctor visits. If any of you are in the area; and, we are home, come see us at either Buffalo Park Campground in Algonquin, IL or Paul Wolff Campground in Elgin, IL. icon_cool.gificon_wink.gificon_razz.gif

Jeff:

glad to hear that you found things early and it sounds like you are started on the track to make them better.

Spending that much time in one area should give you enough time to get closer to the catch record of that Heron icon_wink.gif.

Spent last weekend on the South Fork of the Boise River (suppose to be the "best" fly fishing in the area) with my son and his drift boat. Landed one on Sat and son #2 landed one. Son #1 was manning the oars. Sunday was a bust as far as fish landing was concerned. Of course getting on the water and spending time with sons and grandson was worth it without catching anything

It would be great to see some familiar faces.

hello Class, most of you have been busy, and all over the map. I didn't stray so far from Q-site. Spent time in Tucson & Benson,AZ, then to NM and stayed in several nice Passport America parks:great deals. Loved staying over a week in Santa Fe. Finally back to my former home, Boulder,CO- which is still the best city in the USA for me, except for the darn long winters. And last year they had tons of snow, while I had dust blowing in my face in AZ (but no shoveling, yay) leaving in July for Oregon and The Rally, so maybe some of us 2006ers can meet up. Perhaps backstage with Suzanne Somers or BJ Thomas?!

p.s. When did Mike Vogel become Melvis?

Hey Charlie,

I'm going to barge in on your class thread for a min. It does not look like our paths are going to cross this summer. I don't think we will be heading back that far south (Chinook) before turning east - really sorry as I would love to met up with you. I will pm you with the cruise details when we get back.

You all have a great class, keep it going....

Hey Y'all, Betz and I left Land O Lakes, Wi. on the 10th of Oct heading toward Savannah. We had basically no plan other than to stay down south till Apr. or May or till the last frost had hit the north. We joined the class of 06 last year since we planned to be gone over 6 months at a time. Well we had such a good time in Ga, Fl, NC, SC, Va, Md, and Pa. doing the civil war battle field crawl that we made the big decision to really go FULL TIME. We got home in mid May, painted everything that needed it, emptied the house of all our stuff that didn't fit in the trailer. Listed the house two weeks ago and will order the new Big Sky 34RLQ next month (with the insulated windows) and slide toppers and a few other options. Sold the other car, the pontoon, and next weekend all the rest of my woodworking and mechanic's tools. Most people have no idea how good it feels to get rid of 5 tons of useless stuff. It feels great. Just hoping the house goes as fast as all the stuff.

We have ordered a linear compression tool and enough cable connectors to last 5 years for the Hughes System, the fifth wheel hitch will be here in a week or so and the Jt's strong arm jack stabilizers are already sitting in the garage. Now all we have to do is plan where the next trip will take us. We have been looking at an Idaho run to start with other than that it seems to be basically just wandering for the immediate future. We do need to sell the Jayco but that may not be a problem as we have had two calls about it in the last week. We will be storing some stuff as seed stuff for a future stick home should another one enter our lives in the distant future. Six hundred dollars a year for climate controlled storage is a lot cheaper than 800 dollars a month house payment plus utilities, insurance, telephone, propane, and all the thousand other expenses involved in stick home ownership. Anyway I have rambled on enough for the evening and the thunder boomers are getting to close for comfort, we hope to see a few of you on the road this summer or fall as the case may be. We are off the road for the moment but will be back out soon! Dave and Betsy

Dave and Betsy, Beau the Lab, 06 Duromax/Allison. N4SIJ. Class of 06. We have a Big Sky Montana. In the Savannah, Ga. area for the bulk of the winter. "Some RV salesmen are like Slinkys, not good for much, but they make you smile when you kick them down the stairs"
