Tackleberry
Anybody have trouble bringing your HDT onto the parkway? Per: https://parks.canada.ca/agence-agency/dp-pd/ns-ss/ovr Vehicles exceeding 4550 kg gross vehicle weight are not permitted to travel on the Icefields Parkway (93 North) between Jasper and Lake Louise. Buses and recreational vehicles are permitted regardless of weight. I'm just wondering if the mounties will see an HDT and accept that it is an RV, not a commercial truck... Darryl&Rita
Been several times. No big deal, there's no booth to check in at. Enforcement is in effect, but you will be given a chance to explain yourself. Jim & Wilma
Had great ride on the Parkway in our Volvo VNL pulling a fifth wheel.. If time allows, consider dry camping at the Columbia Icefield Visitor Center, great view of the Athabaskan glacier. RickS
No problem if you are hauling an RV. Last time we were going from Banff to Jasper there was a booth and needed a pass. Also, stayed in parking lot at Columbia Ice Fields for the night which was $10.00 in metric money. rickeieio
Been there, done that, going again in 2024. As mentioned above, take your time and enjoy. We stayed the night in an overflow campground, had it nearly to ourselves. Pipeman, VE3PJF
I have to jump in here. I'm a lurker and always enjoy reading the posts here. I have been to the Columbia ice fields since I was a kid travelling with my parents. The first time I went there we could reach the ice by walking over the highway and onto the ice. Over the years it has melted so much that you have to catch one of the buses that will take you up to the ice field. The mountains always show you how very small we are in this world of ours. I'm 77 years old now and my wife and I have decided that it's time to sell the 5er and dually and get a SUV.
