Brad & Jacolyn
I was wondering if anyone on here has had any luck removing super glue from a suction cup for a dash cam. My Rand Mcnally started failing to stick to the wind shield and being the inventive genius 🥴🥴 that I am I decided that a dab of super glue would fix the problem. It did not. So if a little does not help how about a lot. Still did not. So now I figure I have probably ruined the suction cup so I called Rand Mcnally to get a new mount. They do not sell them and I don't want to buy an entire new camera outfit. So now when you get done laughing and says 'Dumb ass' how about suggestions for cleaning the suction cup. I am going to try harbor freight for a big suction cup I can try to attach in some fashion or will have to go into engineering mode and build something. Parrformance
Please read the below with tongue planted firmly in cheek. Perhaps you could run a sheet metal screw thru the suction cup and into the windshield, that should hold it.👍 Quote 2006 Volvo VNL 780, " Arvey" Volvo D12, 465hp, 1650 ft/lbs tq., ultrashift 2003 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 2010 Forest River Coachman Freedom Express 280RLS Jackalopee

With the number of aftermarket mounts available, it's almost too easy to replace a bad factory design. sandsys
This may be old data but some states forbid the stuck-to-the-windshield type of mounting. I tried using one but it would fall off so I put on a Velcro strap holding it up by my rearview mirror so when it let go at least it wouldn't pull the plug out of the socket as it fell. I finally switched to a sit-on-the-dash bean bag type mount because it was just too irritating to have it keep falling. Mark and Dale Bruss
It took a couple of tries but I found a suction mount that would adhere well enough to hold up a 10" tablet. The auction was not the only issue buy the tilt arm holding its position. We did this in the motorhome. For our cars we only have used sandbag mounts. The video cam is a lot lighter than a GPS and falls off the windshield all the time. The genius that Home Depot sent out to reinstall the microwave that they sold me for my Teton was determined to use toggle bolts for the wall mounting bracket, and if they're good enough for an RV wall, they'll be great in a Volvo windshield. Brad & Jacolyn
Good suggestions here (at least most of them). Thanks for the help. Just got an email from Rand Mcnally opening a ticket so maybe I'll get a new mount yet. Keep you posted. At least I'm not going anywhere for 4 months. Brad & Jacolyn
UPDATE Rand McNally does not sell the part I needed separate from the entire unit. However, They asked for lots of numbers off the unit and offered to provide a new mount as a courtesy. I accepted their offer and a new part arrived today. Took a little time but I have a new part at no cost.
