testingwithfire
Hi all, I'm new to Escapees. I applied for a Texas mailing address with the service. What do I use for "domicile" or "residence" address? Looks like some financial services companies won't take the Rainbow Drive address I was assigned by the mail forwarding service. Thanks! SWharton
We use ours for everything. Have had no problems. Which ones are you having problems with? You may need to call and have them change the address manually.
rynosback
All of our financial companies took the Rainbow Drive address. How did you mark you box number? As just the number, apt#, unit#, PMD or just the number? But if you have a real address, stick and bricks. I see no problem with using that. Are you signed up for all electronic communications? Kirk W
Welcome to the Escapee forums and to the RV club as well, Amy! We are here to help so feel free to ask questions in any of the foums or just visit to comment. Under TX laws the mail service address is legal for all purposes but there are some companies that are reluctant to do so and that is especially true if you are dealing with them outside of Texas. If you move your business interests to Livingston, you will find that all of the business and professional people there understand what we do and how we do it. In addition, if you contact the Escapees office, they can often help you to deal with the companies who don't understand. Good travelin !...............KirkFull-time 11+ years...... ROUS
I believe regulations came in with the Patriot Act that requires banks to tie accounts to physical addresses. When opening our TX bank accounts, we used the address of a Texas relative as our official bank physical account. But, our bank mailing address is in Livingston. We've had no other issues with using our Escapees mailing address for all else, but bank addresses are in a different category.
SWharton
I don't think the Patriot Act in in affect any longer. Three years ago we moved everything to our Livingston address and opened several new financial accounts with the Livingston address with no questions asked. We don't have any bank or financial accounts in TX.
Mark and Dale Bruss
Patriot Act never required banks to have physical addresses for accounts. The banks were just too lazy to deal with virtual addresses. Patriot Act is still in effect. To some degree, the issues create by the Patriot Act have been amplified and become more complex by the addition of Know Your Customer (KYC) rules which have been put into effect for financial institutions. KYC rules aren't as clear cut as those of the Patriot Act and involve monitoring of transaction activity by customers to ascertain whether or not suspicious behaviors are being engaged in. Even after an account has been approved and opened it can be frozen because the monitoring software has detected patterns associated with money laundering or other related activities. SWharton
Wikpedia says "On May 26, 2011, President Barack Obama signed the PATRIOT Sunsets Extension Act of 2011, a four-year extension of three key provisions in the Act:[7]roving wiretaps, searches of business records, and conducting surveillance of "lone wolves"—individuals suspected of terrorist-related activities not linked to terrorist groups" Hopefully that dosn't pertain to any of us and if you add 4 years to 2011 the act has expired................
