Chuck Posted October 28, 2018 Report Posted October 28, 2018 On maiden voyage in the610. About 800 miles. Had the fuel filters changed prior to trip. Level in the glass had been hanging about an inch or so above rim. Now can't see level. What is going on?
Lance A Lott Posted October 28, 2018 Report Posted October 28, 2018 I understand that the fuller the glass the dirtier the filter, and when the glass is full it needs changing.
DesertMiner Posted October 28, 2018 Report Posted October 28, 2018 When they changed the filter in the Davco did they fill it up to the top with clean fuel or just let the fuel fill on its own? Do you know what micron size filter they installed? Brand? Purchased fuel since filter change? http://www.davco.com/
SuiteSuccess Posted October 28, 2018 Report Posted October 28, 2018 If below rim or at rim don’t worry too much if truck starting and running ok. Mine does same as yours. Will stay about level with rim for a long time even if it started out above when filter changed Now if truck hard to start or running rough could be ball/check valve allowing fuel to run back into tank or air leak into hose if running rough. 2006 Volvo 780 "Hoss" Volvo D12, 465hp, 1650 ft/lbs tq., ultrashift Bed Build by "JW Morgan's Custom Welding" 2017 DRV 39DBRS3 2013 Smart Passion Coupe "Itty Bitty" "Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. Chuck Posted October 28, 2018 Author Report Posted October 28, 2018 I don't know. I check it every day and this evening was the first time I noticed the issue. I think tomorrow I will get a gas can to carry some diesel and fill it part way and continue to check. I will be in El Paso tomorrow afternoon and look further into it while I am there for a couple of weeks. Service was done at Speedco.

Chuck Posted October 28, 2018 Author Report Posted October 28, 2018 Thanks all. I do have the manual. But, when panic mode sets in, the best place to go is here. I am in Benson AZ and it will be Sunday. Not much here anyway. Lol
DesertMiner Posted October 28, 2018 Report Posted October 28, 2018 If needed... there is a Loves’ TS on the 10 at the 90. Not too far away.
Moresmoke Posted October 28, 2018 Report Posted October 28, 2018 Tip for those with a Davco filter. If you carry a spare filter also have about a gallon of fuel in a container, or a way to get some out of the tank. It is near impossible to get the system primed without dumping that gallon in the top of the bowl.
JPL Posted October 29, 2018 Report Posted October 29, 2018 Chuck I went thru this same thing this past spring. As long as the engine is running it will work itself back up as it gets to filtering the fuel. I was in the panic mode myself because it started to drop down and i was afraid that it would run out of fuel but 7000 miles later it's still running and filtering like it's suppose to... Chuck Posted October 29, 2018 Author Report Posted October 29, 2018 I added fuel to the Davco this morning. Completed about 250 miles. No change in level.
