Hey TexasDually, THAT is quite an impressive rig!!! I'm happy to hear that the Air Safe Hitch works good. I'm hoping to get mine up and running by mid October or so. Are you going to be at the HDT rally? I'm trying to get my schedule worked out to get by there at least for a day or two.

Are you two done measuring yet? You have heard of private messaging, right? Have your little contest there.

If you can have a contest to see how many Acronym threads can be started , they should be able to have whatever contest they want , in the open forum .

Besides , 'contests' can be entertaining . ;)

Goes around , comes around .

That's what I am looking for, could probably even shorten the bed a hair and move the hitch forward to decrease my length.

How long is your trailer and what is your total length?

The whole rig is 64' bumper to bumper.

The truck is 33'1" Nose to tail.

The Air Safe hitch I have is 1'6" from the truck bumper to ball center.

My trailer isn't that big, it's only 29'5" bumper to ball center.  Its just my dog and I so it's plenty!  My main objective is being able to load up my Jeep, and no matter what trailer I have hooked on, I'm traveling in comfort and safety!  Unlike most of the RV/Pickup truck combinations I see going down the road.  Plus I get better fuel economy too, at an avg of 9 to 12 mpg.  Best I ever got with the Dodge RAM was 8 mpg, a rough ride, and the Jeep had to stay home.  I had a spine injury in 2009 and traveling in the RAM towing the RV trailer I could only drive about 200-300 miles a day and I was done for.  Getting the Volvo opened up a whole new life.  I can drive all day now and I'm not all beat up!

Have you found a truck yet?

My current rig is 63'. Dodge 5500 is 26' and TT is 37'. I pick up my new Freightliner M2 114 in October.  It has a 198" wb and 36K GVWR  and 72K CGVW with a 450HP DD13 engine. I will probably end up at around 64' or so. I'm pretty sure that I can stay under the 65' limit.

Another plug for coming to the rally.  You have NO idea how much valuable information can be accumulated (plus you'll love meeting the Springfield's and their 4 wonderful kiddos).  In fact, there's so much info each year that it almost makes one's head explode!  Just kidding - no exploding allowed in the seminars - but really no one can say how MUCH you'll learn there!  Hope to get to meet you and your family!

Ya while you were wading around the big Huston pool .......the water was raising in this thread a bit as well........

It seems like a odd way to retire by trying to explaneeee to the officer that the trailer you are towing is from one state and the truck is from another state and your drivers license is from another state and the trailer belongs to a LLC but you own the LLC and of course you also own the truck as well and.......and.......

So..........this stop will need how much Dr. Pepper to .........."solve".....?

How much Crown Royal does it take to .........mix in to ....."help solve".....this mess?

So........how long would a "out-of-service" pinch for this mess last?

Drive on...........(retirement can be .........messy if we make it .....complicated)
