Your correct, it was supposed to be an inline 6! The V block won't fit under the hood!

10.9 megawatts = 14,600hp @ 500 rpm = 153,300 lbs-ft torques. B)

500 rpm? I'm surprised it would be so much. I would think something in the order of 150 rpm would be more reasonable.

That engine was built in Finland, but assembled during the build of that carrier while in the shipyard in Korea.

 

For modern day large ship engines, short of a turbine I don't think you can beat a Wartsila.

Duh, I was so intent on studying the picture that I didn't notice the link to you-tube.

 

I wonder what the bore and stroke figures are? Acceleration rates of the pistons must be pretty high.
