MikeMikeMike
Hello everyone. I'm looking for a new RV sewer hose kit and have been comparing a few. What do you guys think of the Rhino? I've been looking at this one http://rvmusthaves.com/rv-sewer-hose-kit/ which seems like a good deal for $28, but some people say it's great and others have stories of cracking within a year. I could afford to replace it each year, so it's not that big of a deal, but I might as well get a good one so I don't have to replace it again too often. *edit - fixed title*
MikeMikeMike
I had posted the same question on another forum and got about 10 solid responses. Looks like Rhino is the way to go! I went ahead and purchased it. But if you have any alternatives, I'd still love to here them as I can always send it back if something is better. Before I use it of course! haha

Medico
We have been FT for 2 years. When on the road we have a macerator that we use. However when parked (this is our normal mode) we have this hose. It has performed flawlessly during that time. We will be Camp HOSTS this year, but not by the sewer. Sorry I could not resist. Dutch_12078
I like Camco's Revolution hoses and fittings. They hold up well, the fittings are easy to use, and many Walmart stores carry them if you need an extra length. I carry four 10' lengths on board. champ_49
We got one from Lippert. Its a complete different than any other. Sewer hose itself is smooth on the inside for better flow. The hose maintains its shape and the hook up to the sewer on the trailer is like the hook ups on tanker trucks. I may be wrong but thinking they called it cam locks. It works great but pricey! Mark and Dale Bruss
We prefer hoses that are, what we call, dimensionally stable. Hoses that hold their shape when positioned. We did an article on the then current (12/1/2014) offerings of those type of hoses and why we prefer them. We spent a lot on our original hoses, almost $50 for a 12' hose when we started 9 years ago. All three hoses are still in fine shape. Spending a few dollars more does make a difference in useful life. One of the things we do is rotate hose yearly. There is the primary hose which is used most often. Then the secondary hose if used for those places where 12' doesn't make it. And the third for the longer runs. Each year we rotate the hoses. That spreads out the sunlight damage on the hoses. Dennis M
I like the Rhino as well, like Mark I carry three of them, rarely have to use the third. May have to start rotating like he does, not a bad idea. When we are stationary in AZ in the winter I put a run of rain gutter over the hose to protect it from the sun and the woodpeckers. skp51443
We did rotation a bit differently, we put the same hose out all the time and used the second only when we need both. As soon as the first hose looked iffy we'd get a replacement and tuck it away until we discarded the iffy hose. The second hose would become the one we always used and the new one would be saved for extra length. If we were in really hot sunny sites we'd cover the hose and connectors to keep the sun off them, probably not really needed for most sewer bits if you don't summer in the southwest desert. I'd cover any clear fittings that were exposed to sun though, with no color they really get hammered by the UV rays and turn brittle. Alie&Jim's Carrilite
Our Carrilite came with the WasteMaster hose system with the cam-lock fittings. I use it exclusively at dump stations because of its ease of use. For the normal 2-week stays, or when we're gate guarding I use the Rhino hoses. Seems to hold up well in the Texas summer sun. I put together an adapter that the bayonet fitting of the rhino locks onto with a cam-lock fitting on the other end to fit the RV Jim's Adventures Old Spacecraft.... Had most of the stuff but bought two 10 ft lengths of 3 inch pipe to make it long enough to reach the far end of the trailer. The rest of the stuff I have had since 2008 when I was parked at a Mobile Home park and they didn't like flex hoses. I have used it since then over the years when the distance is too long for my flex hose. This will make it easier in a couple weeks when I have to contact the pump out crew. D&J
We just buy a new 20 ft Camco cheapy from Walmart every 4 years and use the same old screw in red fittings that are at least 12 years old and are now pink, its just sewage and it doesn't care how expensive the hose is. The one I just replace was 4 years old because it still had a bent spot in it were someone stepped on it and I remember where were when it happened. SWRick
If you buy a 3-4" diameter pvc pipe and cut it in half lengthwise, one piece can be used under the hose as support, and the other half on top of the hose to protect it from UV damage- use a bungee cord around it to keep in place. Dave O
Hi All We have used the SaniCon system for over ten years and it is excellent for us as Full Timers. We leave the grey open till the black reaches about 2/3 full, close it and then dump both in a day or so when the grey fills sufficiently. No Hook Up on coach end, because it stays connected all the time, over 30' of always available SaniCon hose to the dump point. When ready to leave, we dump, empty the hose, and pull it into utility compartment-No Mess No Fuss and all is ready for the next stop.
