Wanderin
Update on Lee: It is sad news. He has a brain tumor and believe this is probably what caused the symptoms of the stroke. Now they feel he may not have had a stroke at all as diagnosed by the doctors in New Mexico. However, they cannot operate. He can't speak and isn't eating. He was originally put in assisted living but is in the hospital now. He will be moved to hospice before long. Wanderin
I know. I hesitated whether to post or just send a few emails. It's sad, so sad. When his niece talks to him, she's sure he understands what she is saying. She was very sad about the fast downturn. steved44
Never did like 5th wheels all that much and now I like them even less. The neighbor across from me (in a 5th wheel) pulled into his site and HIT MY BUS!! Another neighbor and I were sitting in lawn chairs beside my bus and this guy pulled in to his space (pull through). When he did his back end swiveled into me and busted the right mirror and scraped the paint on the front. The mirror was hanging by the wires in three pieces! I felt a little bad for him as he had just started full timing and this was his first real shake down cruise in his new rig. It took the left side rear window out of his unit and he never felt the hit. It made a really big bang and about 5 other neighbors came running over to see what happened. Bad thing is we were supposed to leave Monday for an event in Wisconsin on Thursday. At least he had good insurance and they are going to get me fixed up. They had a mirror assembly shipped from Tiffin and Branson Motorcoach is supposed to put it on Tuesday. I'll have to get the paint work done later, but at least I'll be able to drive the bus. A little fiberglass work and front cap painted and it should be none the worse for wear. It had to happen on Labor Day of course when everyone is closed. Onthego
Steve - What a PITA. Best of luck with the repairs. For all you wine drinkers if you've never been to Walla Walla, Washington, you are missing it. We picked up a magazine at the visitor center and there is a map in it showing 27 tasting rooms in downtown Walla Walla. It is a nice college town and easy walking distance from the Elks Lodge too. Travel safe everyone. palamine
I tell you! The Escapees website is the worst for user friendly. I need to pay our membership fees. I know my user name and my password. Doesn't work. So I order a new password and guess what? - the system is broken. It's like Fort Knox. What could possibly be that important? I was just going to take my blood pressure. Not right now. Good news. Tomorrow we leave for a little hiatus in a hotel at the coast for 4 days and then we come back pick up the rig and hit the road! Yay! Wahoo, Whoop! Whoop! Dejae
We feel like the unsure class!! We live in Las Vegas, NV and will be out of the sticks and bricks Sept 30 as it is sold. But because we are right on top of winter we might take a few week trip in Oct somewhere, not sure where. Then be back here for Nov and Dec to spend Thanksgiving and Christmas with youngest son. We will stay in a campground and of course the coach will be the only home. (plus we will be scheduling DH left knee surgery probably end of October. Sooo, I guess we are technically class of 2016...but won't officially hit the road till 2017. I guess hitting the road doesn't matter...it is when you are actually ONLY living in your home on wheels. So I guess that titles us class of 2016?? Quote Blessed Travels,Judi, John, Peanut and DeJae' (Our baby girl DeJae passed 7/21/2019)
sandsys
We feel like the unsure class!!...it is when you are actually ONLY living in your home on wheels. So I guess that titles us class of 2016?? The classes started as a way to connect people who were going through the same experience at the same time: figuring out how to get on the road and what to do once you succeed. That means you get to decide what class to join based on your own experience. The Classless Class is a little different. To join it, you need to attend a rally in Arizona in January of any year to introduce yourself to the group there that year. Then you need to regularly participate in the Classless Class on this forum. If you do those things, you will be added to our map to facilitate meeting one another when out on the road. Whichever way you decide to go, welcome! steved44
Ok ok, today is finished and what a day it was. It started out innocently enough. We parked at a gas station/burger king/subway/mini mart that was also a rv park last night. On interstate 39 in north Illinois is a place called Princess Winona Rv Oasis, just south of the Illinois river. Fuel, full hook-ups, and food, you can't go wrong. Well then we were going north around the main part of Milwaukee, and ran into the worst construction mess I've ever EVER driven through. It's right by the State fair park and it has all the baddies. Narrow concrete barriers, extremely rough pavement, very faint lane markers, and the signage was barely visible. And did I mention the traffic was heavy with big trucks on both sides. I don't know how we ever managed to get through there intact, but we did. I did open my eyes on the other side of it all. Then we finally arrived at Carol's sisters house and were in the process of parking in her front yard and got STUCK!! They have had just a little too much rain in the part week and the ground was still a little soft. I almost made it in, but hung up on the trailer hitch and it kept just enough weight off the trucks to start spinning and that was all she wrote. Fine finish to the day!! Well, Coach-net to the rescue, and they sent one of those monster wreckers to get us out. I think we had a 10 person peanut gallery during the process, but the wrecker driver really knew his business and finessed us out without breaking anything. Not being able to park where we thought we could, we looked around and there was an Elks club a couple of miles down the road. They had a spot with 15A, but hey, any old port in a storm they say. Finally got parked and an adult beverage in hand. No driving tomorrow!!
