  1. Any recommendations on a RV coating wax with UV protectant?
  2. I will be purchasing a Jayco 242BHSW, and am in the process of buying the accessories required. My question concerns the cover. It will be stored outdoors in the Colorado sun and I want to protect my purchase. I have read that covers last at most 3 years in these conditions. Is there any brand that people recommend? Or since the lifetime is short, should you buy a lower priced option knowing that you will end up replacing it every so often? Are there tricks to extending the life span of the cover? Also any recs concerning the cover length to adequately fit the trailer?
  3. Follow up- I went to look at both the trailers up in Longmont north of Denver. The 24BH is certainly the nicer trailer. The 24BH was the last 2022 model with a take home price of 39K. I have a quote for the 242BHS for 27K take home. It's hard to justify the added cost in my mind- A lot of it can be added at a lower cost over time. The weight factor also was a strong influencing factor in the decision. I do appreciate the CCC discussion, I think it's one that is often glossed over in discussions with salespeople in hopes of getting you into the biggest most expensive trailer. I do agree, these trailers are not the nicest, but they fit my budget and importantly can be safely towed by by half ton pickup. I am not going to be upgrading my truck, it's just a baby by Toyota standards- 2014 Tundra with 73K miles. I am placing a deposit for the Jay Flight and will be going up to Bish's in Wyoming to look at the trailer.
  4. I wanted to get some opinions on the pros and cons concern gin these two trailers. The differences I can see are first cost, the Jay Feather comes in about 10K more than the Jay Flight. The gross weight of the Jay Flight is 7000 lbs, the Jay Feather is 7500. The build quality and appointment seem better on the Feather, but are they 10K better? Length is about the same at 30 feet. The layout is similar, but I like the Feather better. Any experienced people with a good grasp of the differences, and if the added cost is worth it?
  5. Very interesting discussion, and pertinent to my situation. My truck's max payload is 1415 lbs, and with a tongue weight of 750 lbs and the occupants weight of 400, it leaves 265 pounds of potential cargo in the vehicle. Food for thought.
  6. Yes, the above is the spec sheet for my truck, and per the manufacturer it is rated to tow 9,500 lbs in its particular configuration, being a 4x4. I have towed a similar trailer I rented and felt comfortable in the mountain passes in Colorado.
  7. Hi all- I am looking into buying a travel trailer, and am towing with a 2014 Tundra with the towing package. I have a family of 4, myself and wife and 2 children ages 6 and 8. I went to the recent RV show in Denver, and my wife and I liked the Jayco Jayfeather 24BH. There is also a 22BH in the same line up. In camping around Colorado (we live in Colorado Springs) Is there a huge difference in camp site availability between the two models? The 24 BH is just over 30 feet, and the 22BH is 28' 10". The GVWR is the same for both trailers, at 7,500 lbs, which is well within the limits for my truck. Another question, is there a significant difference between the Jay Feather and the Jay Flight lines? Would you prefer one over the other?
