Even if it were possible when has the government ever done anything on time?
3. Get the head checked out make sure it is good. While you have that off pull the oil pan and do the main bearings. Check the injectors. Make sure everything is all good before you put it back together. I heard back from the shop. Apparently mine had been overhauled at some point and looks good. But I got 3 crappy looking injectors. So were going to replace them while its apart.
4. I am gong through this right now. As we speak my truck is in the shop getting a new head gasket. 2003 60 series Detroit. I called a couple shops and it was going to be around 6 grand with a new head. Shop rates $95-110 an hour. If it need overhauled its going to be 20. I was talking to the guy I bought it from (we live a rural community I see the guy all the time) Anyway he owns a trucking company and is having his shop guy do it for $50 an hour. They build engines for people all the time and can charge less because they dont have the overhead. His trucking business keeps the lights on. Wrenching is extra income. If they only did mechanic work he would have to charge the 95-110 bucks an hour that every one else does. He said I will be out the door for about 2 grand if it dont need a head. I have already invested 30k in this truck. If I have to put in another couple grand then whatever. I'm still half the price of a new one ton and it will last me the rest of my life. Sitting there with a bad head gasket its worth scrap price.

Volvo Dinette?

I looked at doing that but I'm not a big fan of having the kids sit sideways in the truck. I ripped the bed and cabinets all out of the truck . Built a new cabinet for the fridge, microwave and port a potty. Then installed the front seats out of early 2000s Chevy trucks. Hey have integrated seat belts. I also raised them up 5 inches to make them comfortable for adults to sit. One seat overlaps the cabinet by a couple inches. Ironically that is the most popular seat. The seats are not electric so they can be slid back and forth and reclined. There is an incredible amount of storage back there when you slide them all the way forward. I was going to put a table in here at some time but never got to it.

Air Ride Hitch

I have a comfort ride on top of the frame rails. I'm 2 inches high on the trailer but when I build the new pin box I will be able to take care of that. I would like to have the pin back farther also. So when I build the pin box I,m gong to try to fudge the pin back 6-8 inches from straight down off the center of the pin box.
7. Were here to help. Don't be afraid to ask. There are no stupid questions here. If there are I already asked them so you are safe.
8. A real quick Google search produced these results. Travel in Style: Top 5 Luxury Fifth Wheels Grand Design Solitude. Forest River Cardinal. Crosswoods Redwood. DRV Mobile Suites. Luxe Toy Hauler.
9. I use this thing called "the Wife" Not too hard to train but you gotta feed her. Sometimes she only waves with one finger. I still cant figure that out. I lost the manual.

Rally Trucks

The hippies would be out there protesting it because they might run over a bug or something. Could not have it in Commiefornia either. Too many emissions.
11. If you fill them up again next year then it might be time to find a different place. Ambassador will be hard to beat. Great showers and pool with meeting room.
12. Thanks for the input. I live in a rural community and I know there are a couple guys running around with their call sign on the license plate. I will see if I can track one down.
13. I have been interested in radio for a long time I just never had the pocket book to buy all the equipment. I still dont. All my extra money goes to travel. Showing my kids this beautiful country of ours. An acquaintance recently showed me his Baofang radio. He paid like 30 bucks for it then another 20 something for a longer antenna. It works off repeaters so I do understand In a SHTF situation they are useless. What I am thinking is this. My wife is not a hiker. My boys and I are. If we get off trail somewhere or something happens I can call for help or at lest get in contact with the wife. We go to a lot of places without cell service. I do not have a license yet. I will not be transmitting anything until my wife and I have our license. I'm looking at these. https://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-BAOFENG-UV-5R-III-Tri-Band-UHF-VHF-Walkie-Talkie-Long-Range-Two-Way-Ham-Radio/154268892594?hash=item23eb247db2:g:UTAAAOSwhRlf7Dtz https://www.ebay.com/itm/2-PCS-Baofeng-uv-5r-8W-TRI-Power-Band-Radio-Portable-Two-Way-radio/324314565840?hash=item4b82a78cd0:g:rOIAAOSw2RdeJKhe https://www.ebay.com/itm/US-Baofeng-UV-5RA-Dual-Band-VHF-UHF-Ham-Amateur-Two-way-Radio-FM-Transceiver/184186954417?hash=item2ae265e2b1:g:fLYAAOSwSmxeVjJl
14. Reefer fuel is not dyed. You fill your truck tank then shut off the pump and pull forward some. Then you get back on the little speaker and tell the fuel desk you are now getting reefer fuel. It all comes out of the same pump. If those of you that have diesel generators had separate tanks you could do the same. Just fill your truck tank. Then tell them the second fill is for off road use.
15. No road tax on reefer fuel. Off road use.
16. We will be making reservations today.

Dream Truck

My wife if from southeastern Kentucky. I know exactly what you are taking about. After 3 years I finally go her to pull a head and backup a few feet while I move blocks. She drives tractors with 1300 bushel grain cart and never spill a drop. She will pull the camper with a pickup but not that truck. (insert girl voice here) Because it not automatic.

Fueling

If I'm cutting across country on 2 lanes I will try to hit a small town CO-OP. There is actually one in Illinois that I will hit every time.
20. Seems high to me but they have to start somewhere. They didn't even replace the cracked glass over the speedometer.
21. Trucking and farming go hand in hand. Were always hauling stuff. Either ours or for others picking up a little extra cash.

Bronco Sport

Anything without a 3rd row seat is jut too small for my clan. Not that we need the seating but cargo space.

Dream Truck

I am sort of starting over. When I retire this truck is coming with me. It will the same age as my HDT is now but I will have been the only one to drive it.
