  1. I put the truck up on jack stands to help find the vibration. I think its in the rear end its self. I put it in 10th gear and let it idle. Speedometer said 35 mph. The rear end was making noise. Kind of a lot of noise. It only vibrates when I crest the top of a hill with he cruise on. That moment when everything is freewheeling and when I'm bobtail going 70+. I only put on 5000 miles a year. I dont think I am going to worry about it right now. I have enough friends with trucks torn apart I may be able to find a good rear end sooner or later for little of nothing. I also found the rear seal in the transmission leaking. 🤦‍♂️
  2. I second this. I have a friend that got one. We were out in Idaho last summer. He went straight to the factory to get it installed. Very knowledgeable people there and a real slick set up.
  3. We have one of those in the shop. Its pretty easy to use. (The tire tool not the girl) I have 8 new drives to put on my work truck. Maybe I can get her to help me.
  4. My cousin helps out once in a while. He gets more grease on the floor, himself, and the gun than he does whatever it is I have him greasing.

    Drom box

That is real nice. Good work!
  6. Sounds like its sucking air somewhere. I dont know jack about Volvo engines but I wold be tempted to give her a shot of starting fluid. But If you have glow plugs that wold be a very very bad idea.
  7. I don't know but I'm scraping this one. AC unit and fridge will be put in storage for now. Water tank and pump just might get mounted on the Freightliner.
  8. Use mine the other day. Got a free salvage camper. Some lady had her brother living in it at a trailer court. He quit paying the rent last spring so she threw him out. When he left the roof vent was open. It was open all summer. It still had potential but the door flew off on the way home.
  9. I use a couple 55 gallon drums. Lay on their side put a spigot in one bung and shrader valve in the other. Pressurize with air and you got running water. This was my first test using a cheap 12 volt air compressor. I held the hose above my head as high as I could reach and it pushed water out. I had no problems filling my camper. Since then I have started using a water pump salvaged out of an old RV. It works just as well maybe better but you have to vent the barrel. Take the core out of the shrader valve.
  10. They didn't have their display hooked to air?
  11. Legacy seats are the best for the price. You can find them at just about any truck dealer. Do not buy cheap. I did once. Learned my lesson. If you are on a budget you can find used ones at Vander haages. The do carry new ones as well. https://www.vanderhaags.com/Search-Results.php?items=10&subcategory=cab-and-sleeper-cab-interior&inventorytype=seat-air-ride-seat&typesetid=9000
  12. Pretty minor repairs. Hopefully you have better luck later. This year I had to do a head gasket, swap transmission, u-joint and slip yolk.
  13. We have a late 80s international truck with a 7 speed. It has a cattle box on it so dont use it too much. But you are right it takes a little getting use to.
  14. I hate that 10 speed but it was cheap. I had to replace it earlier this spring. I wanted a 13 also but I found a low mile used reman 10 to go back in. The company I pull for had one sitting on the shelf in the shop. I couldn't argue the price. $2000 installed.
  15. Could be. I really dont know. Either way its expensive.
  16. I always keep the truck and camper parked by the deck behind my house. The cats love to hang out under the camper. I have never had mice in either my truck or camper until I decided not to put the truck there and park it with the rest of our farm trucks for the winter. When I cleaned the truck out to park it that fall I missed the upper cabinet above the windshield. Turns out the mice just love microwave popcorn.
  17. I went with the dorm style because kids. When its just the wife and I on our short trips we dont even turn it on. Now when we are the whole family on our long summer trips that thing is loaded down and used as a overflow from the camper fridge. I made it so I can run a cord in from outside and plug that fridge into the pole at the campground. I can also run it off the generator mounted on the truck when we are stopped sight seeing. The generator is plugged into a breaker box that leads to several outlets inside and outside the truck.
  18. We didn't have time to mess with it so its at a friends shop. Last I heard he was looking for a replacement. We had to finish silage with the good truck and be more careful.
  19. I gutted out the cabinets and bed. Just threw in some seats out of early 2000s Chevy trucks. Because they have built in seat belt. Built a cabinet for fridge, microwave and porta-potty. Nothing fancy at all. Purely function. The cabinet over laps the far left seat just a tad but nobody complains. Its actually my daughters favorite seat. But that may be because its next to the power inverter that runs everything and she can keep her phone plugged in. You will want to put better insulation down on the floor and pull the interior down of the walls and insulate better. I did not do that in the walls but I have plans to go back and do that later. I have an old truck and its pretty noisy. But then sometimes thats OK because if the kids start whining I can just turn the radio up a hair and cant heat a thing back there. I had to make a bracket to hold the fridge in place. I just used the TV hold down strap from the factory cabinet to hold in the microwave. If you dont have windows this is a good time to install them as well as new seats. The seats I installed in the back are still fully functional. They slide forward and back and recline. One is set ahead in the picture because of the HVAC system in the sleeper. Passengers typically slide the other two ahead so they are in a row. There is an incredible amount of storage back there when you have all the seats slid ahead. There are way more fancy setups than this but like I said above this is pure function. I got my truck in February of that year. The entire conversion was done and truck on the road by July. I had neither the time or the bank account to do any more.
  20. Ever wonder what happens when you engage the power divider when you wheels are still spinning? Well here you go. This is what happens. This is on one of our farm trucks. We were chopping silage and my nephew said it just started making noise. A lot of guys drive this truck so its hard to say who did it but I think if it was messed up before it would not have just started making noise the second day of harvest.
  21. Mine is leaking above the oil filter as well but I dont have a EGR.
  22. I dont mind shifting. My work truck has an Allison and I love it. HDT has a 10 speed manual. If the HDT were an auto Jen would be open to driving. She drove our crew cab long box pickup pulling a 33 ft 5th wheel and did really well. She just dont want to learn how to drive a manual. I dont understand why. She knows how to use a clutch becaus She operates farm equipment better than any of the guys out here.

    All In

I did the same. I kept the Duramax for a while just in case. I do miss it but I have a suburban now. Being the scoutmaster its nice being able to pack more passengers in. If I need a pickup I can swipe one from the farm. Otherwise I just use the freightliner.
  24. You would only lose an inch. I doubt you wold notice that.
