My Bed design

So use steel in most places but aluminum in places you are most likely need to remove them. I guess I am not understanding why you would need to remove them but everyone build is unique. I guess it old be nice to access air lines and such from the top but its not like you will be under there every other day.

My Bed design

Remember when you tie down you will have the weight of the car plus whatever force the ratchet puts on. Also bouncing down the road will put more weight on than sitting still.
3. Yea that should work. When my son and I go we have a 8 man cabin tent. I just have a little Coleman heater to turn on in the morning to take the chill off.
4. I never knew such a thing existed. I wonder if they would work in a tent.
5. Thank you Parr. I have posted dozens of pics in the past. I dont know why I'm having so much trouble now. We have 4 trucks with the A word in them. 2 class 8 and 2 MDT. There is no other way to go. I my line of work I would tear up another auto shift in no time.
6. try again.
7. I got a 2021 T880. Its like the 660s tougher older brother. 560hp X15 cummins with 7 speed Allison. No much for top end speed but in the dirt shes a digging pulling monster. Not much for fuel economy. 8. My first time out to California early 90s I seen some of them pulling doubles. Dump trailers if I remember right. I about broke my neck looking at them go by. I though the same thing man them are weird looking. But the more I seen them the cooler they looked. They would be no good here in Nebraska but perfect for pulling stock trailer or camper. Here I am 20 some years after having that idea I am actually using an HDT. If I didn't have all these kids I would totally go for a singe axle day cab Pete.
9. I bought a used Cardinal and it had some issues to sort out. All of the issues were due to the last owners neglect. Add in a shady salesman selling on consignment. Lets just say it was a learning experience and I'm glad I purchased the extra warranty.
10. B&W turn over ball and the companion 5th wheel hitch. I ran that for years and never had any problems. I got a comfort ride on my HDT but kept the companion for when I need to tow with the pickup.
11. you can fit a resonator under there before the T. Then its not too bad.
12. Give it a good bath and detail and sell as is. Probably get more by selling it all separately. That would make a good starter truck for someone.
13. Don't get me wrong. I love seeing the old trucks on the road. I just don't want to drive them anymore. On the same note a family friend has an old peterbilt with the butter fly hood and 2 sticks. I forgot the year but he and my dad restored it in the late 70s. I was kid but I "helped" If he ever sells it I'm buying it. I'm not driving across country with it. Just haul a little grain locally.
14. I spent enough time in them old trucks. No thanks. They are nice to look at but I need cruise control without pulling the throttle knob all the way out.
15. On my PC it says unable to connect. Then I got a notification from McAfee that they blocked it.
16. Those are all tools you would need sooner or later anyway so thats a wash lol. We broke too many things last year I dont have the time or the shop space to do it myself. Bedside that I dont trust myself when it comes to engine internals. Anything that bolts to the engine fine. But going any farther than the valve covers is not for me. My nephew came to work on the farm with us. I want to send him to mechanic school. We can do more of this stuff in house instead of sending it out.

Even if it were possible when has the government ever done anything on time?
19. Get the head checked out make sure it is good. While you have that off pull the oil pan and do the main bearings. Check the injectors. Make sure everything is all good before you put it back together. I heard back from the shop. Apparently mine had been overhauled at some point and looks good. But I got 3 crappy looking injectors. So were going to replace them while its apart.
20. I am gong through this right now. As we speak my truck is in the shop getting a new head gasket. 2003 60 series Detroit. I called a couple shops and it was going to be around 6 grand with a new head. Shop rates $95-110 an hour. If it need overhauled its going to be 20. I was talking to the guy I bought it from (we live a rural community I see the guy all the time) Anyway he owns a trucking company and is having his shop guy do it for $50 an hour. They build engines for people all the time and can charge less because they dont have the overhead. His trucking business keeps the lights on. Wrenching is extra income. If they only did mechanic work he would have to charge the 95-110 bucks an hour that every one else does. He said I will be out the door for about 2 grand if it dont need a head. I have already invested 30k in this truck. If I have to put in another couple grand then whatever. I'm still half the price of a new one ton and it will last me the rest of my life. Sitting there with a bad head gasket its worth scrap price.

Volvo Dinette?

I looked at doing that but I'm not a big fan of having the kids sit sideways in the truck. I ripped the bed and cabinets all out of the truck . Built a new cabinet for the fridge, microwave and port a potty. Then installed the front seats out of early 2000s Chevy trucks. Hey have integrated seat belts. I also raised them up 5 inches to make them comfortable for adults to sit. One seat overlaps the cabinet by a couple inches. Ironically that is the most popular seat. The seats are not electric so they can be slid back and forth and reclined. There is an incredible amount of storage back there when you slide them all the way forward. I was going to put a table in here at some time but never got to it.

Air Ride Hitch

I have a comfort ride on top of the frame rails. I'm 2 inches high on the trailer but when I build the new pin box I will be able to take care of that. I would like to have the pin back farther also. So when I build the pin box I,m gong to try to fudge the pin back 6-8 inches from straight down off the center of the pin box.
23. Were here to help. Don't be afraid to ask. There are no stupid questions here. If there are I already asked them so you are safe.
