  1. Don't use Harvest King brand on your hands. That stuff burns bad. It will even take paint off what ever you are working on. Up side its real cheap and works really well.

    ECR Do-Over

I'm out. We cancelled our Florida trip. Might still make it to Kentucky but unknown at this time. Wife and Mother in law would really like to go see their family.
  3. We just built ours about 10 years ago or so. I never forget the days when you never threw away a good big piece of cardboard or carpet scraps. (Still don't). Having a stocked service truck makes rolling in the dirt a little better. Not making 5 trips to the shop to fix something. But no matter how you plan someone is still running to get something. Another thing about not having hired help outside the family. He who breaks it has to fix it! So we are not quite so hard on stuff. Sometimes.
  4. That looks great. Love the wiener window. Straight pipes are all fine and dandy but you get tired of hearing them after a while. I have 7 inch straights on my Pete. They are fun but I'm over it. You can get a train horn for like $100 pretty decent. Plumb into the trucks air and put a button in the dash.
  5. Here is the service truck. Freightliner M2 with a Mercedes engine Allison transmission I think its a 2003 model. locker in the rear end. Its beast it will go about anywhere slowly. Top speed is 60 and shes screaming.
  6. Phone won't let me post pics. Have to wait until I get to a computer.
  7. A nice shop is all well and good but if you are out somewhere you need a decent mobile shop. We picked this old power company truck up a few years ago. 45,000 miles. With a crane, screw compressor and all for around $15,000. Stocked with harbor freight tools and a few craftsman. We put a John Deere welderator on it. Welder generator air compressor combo.
  8. It's a uni-hydro. It's small but it does what we need done.
  9. One of my first trucking jobs had me and my first baby mamma living in a mid 80s 9760 international cab over with spring ride. I had to wear my seat belt just to stay off the dog house when I hit pot holes. But then probably only weighed 125 lbs. Only good thing about that truck was the double bed. Plenty of room for activities.
  10. This was a few years ago when we built it. 80x80 Morton building. 24 ft ceiling, floor heat, The big door is a 42x23 aircraft door. We have the typical drill press, band saw, welders, one real nice addition is the iron worker. Its smaller shear and punch press. I would like to get a bench lathe at some point but for now we make due. We have all the tools we need to build anything within our knowledge.
  11. Your wife had an excellent idea. Oftentimes they truly are the better half!

We will be in southeastern Kentucky sometime this summer. I really have no idea when. If it works out we will run down there for few days and meet with you guys. My daughters school wants to have graduation in July. That is all they said, July. Mess us all up because we planned on being on the road for 3 weeks in July.

    Hi

Everything is pretty much the same here on the farm. We have a bunch of corn contracted so I will be trucking pretty hard the rest of the month. The kids have school on their I pads. Jen is a little stressed being forced into being a home school teacher. For once these chickens of mine are paying off. Eggs are near $5 a dozen here.
  14. Yea its old but it was free. If it goes kaput I have another one. Free also. To me its worth it. I will have roughly $25 in the whole project. If I had an extra grand laying around I would go with a new one.
  15. I traded my old trailer off on an 06 Forest River Cardinal. IT is wired for a second AC unit. Last summer a friend of mine and I spent weeks pulling campers out of a campground that were flooded. He has been parting them out. So, last Saturday I went down to our RV junk yard and grabbed an AC unit. Set it up on saw horses to test it. It works great. Just have to finish straightening the fins. It ran a good half hour. Compressor kicked on and off as it should. Good cold air coming out. I ordered this gasket and the first Saturday after this shows up I'm installing it. If my calculations are correct this will put me right a 13'6'' The shroud has a pretty good crack in it. I taped it together on the bottom and put a bunch of gorilla glue on it. I will flip it over and do the same on the bottom when this cures.
  16. I really didn't think this would affect our travel plans. We were going to be gone for 3 weeks in July. Now my daughters school is thinking about having graduation in July. I suppose I better not miss that. I already paid for half the party that got cancelled. No my ex wife did not give me a refund.

    Insurance

I'm paying 65 a month for State Farm.
  18. Thanks for the reminder I drained my tanks last summer. I need to do it again. Should do it a couple times a year. I had oil in my tank also. I called a mechanic buddy of mine because i was afraid the compressor was going out. I have a Detroit. He said for some reason even brand new from the factory Detroit always leaked a little oil in the system. So unless like a gallon comes out don't worry about it.
  19. We have progressive for our commercial trucks. I don't know of any restrictions. I have State Farm for my HDT also with no restrictions.
  20. Pre trip and post trip inspections are very important.
  21. Depends on the state. In Nebraska we don't need beds.
  22. We are north and a little west of there about 2 hours. Near the reservation. Jen is a homemaker and it turns out a pretty good home school teacher especially for being forced into it. We farm and all the employees live real close. We try to keep a tight circle.
  23. We contracted all our farm fuel for the rest of year. Road diesel at 2.25 and farm fuel at 1.75. Its a little higher because its delivered to the farm. Probably could have held out a little longer maybe it would drop some more but this is already a 18 year low so went ahead and did it.
  24. My daughter has been sick for 3 over weeks but that started before the virus hit. She self quarantined before any of this started. They finally did test her for Covid. Should have results today. Pretty confident its not Covid because of the time line. Out here in eastern Nebraska it depends on where you are. In the country we are pretty good. Aside from not being able to go to the cafe for lunch and the bar for a few drinks in the evening its a minor inconvenience. The city folks around here have it worse although It is going around the rural communities. One woman near here passed away a couple days ago. Every fall we stock up extra supplies for winter because we are just one good blizzard away from not seeing town for a few days or a week. With the mild weather we have not needed the extra supplies until now. I haven't even gotten into my home canned food yet. Until today, because I'm bored. I'm going to get out the canned chicken and stuff to make a big ole pot of soup. Chad, you have my condolences. I have friends that work in hospitals and are first responders. You people are on the front lines. You cant stay home its your job to keep the rest us safe. Right now its our job to make yours easier and stay home.
  25. My kids school is delivering lunches. They run the bus route and show up pretty much the same time every day. We have to provide a box on the porch to put it in. So there is no contact. Then when they leave one of the boys goes out and gets it. A system like that may work for them.
