  1. I didn't realize that. Might have to rethink things.
  2. OK so I need to find a tow dolly with brakes. Thanks!
  3. Do you guys have brakes on the little trailer you haul the SXS on? My new trailer has a factory hitch with a 5k load limit. I'm thinking about pulling a car on a dolly. But, my tow dolly doesn't have brakes. I did some research and found that the dollies you rent form U haul don't have breaks either.
  4. That sounds a lot like mine. Except I leave out the water and add a can of van de camps baked beans. I know its weird but I like it.
  5. Evaporated milk can be reconstituted to regular milk. Don't count on finding any dry milk. Its all gone also.
  6. We are at home. Just don't leave the farm much. We have caught up on all winter projects. The grain markets pretty much crashed so we are not busy hauling right now. Spent a lot of time on the couch. Emptied my DVR. Like Rickeieio we are pretty well set with jars in the basement and freezers and such. Living out in the boondocks we stay pretty well stocked up anyway. Especially coming out of winter. One good blizzard and we don't see town for a few days. However my supply of Yuengling is running dangerously low. Were itching to use the new to us trailer but rain and more rain then ice and snow are keeping us in the driveway. Parks in Nebraska are open as far as I know. There is at least one I know of that has free access right now.
  7. Dirt and stuff get on top of the 5th wheel plate and it rusts from the top down. It happens on grain trailers too. You have to get up in the slopes and wash it out a couple times a year.
  8. We are not going anywhere until July. I think it will all be over by then.
  9. I remain optimistic that summer travel plans go on. Rick, what province are you in? I remember asking you at the rally but I forgot.
  10. There are lower windows available. I would guess its not much different than how I did my freightliner. If you choose to order windows from the link below make sure to tell them you are NOT replacing a window. You are installing a window in a truck that never had a window and you will need all the interior and all other window related parts. https://www.vanderhaags.com/detailview.php?part=24807205
  11. Michelin is over rater and over priced. I run BF Goodrich steer tires on my work truck. I really like them. They hold up well even on all the gravel roads and off road terrain I drive on.
  12. No camera. I don't have one on my commercial truck. I don't really need one on the HDT either.
  13. Yea I would say if its getting used as a work bench its not on the road enough. Same thing happens here.
  14. Things are a little crazy out in Idaho right now. Hopefully they straighten out before you all get there. My cousin lives in Boise. She sent me these.
  15. You can drill it with a regular drill but a mag drill with cutting bit is faster. I was talking to one guy who said he drilled a small hole then used a bridge reamer to get the right size. No matter what drill you have a bridge reamer is very handy tool to have when doing this project. I got a 1/2 9/16 and 3/4. https://www.amazon.com/Drill-America-Qualtech-High-Speed-Uncoated/dp/B00FXJGSLI/ref=asc_df_B00FXJGSLI/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312440347105&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2736057981198873765&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9024548&hvtargid=pla-569921301568&psc=1
  16. I had to drill 3 holes in frame and ream out one to get the rails to bolt up.
  17. I always used a 55 gallon barrel set crosswise in the box ahead of the hitch. Barrel was free. $10 worth of hardware. I hooked this little 12 volt air compressor to the schrader valve and it pushed water through a hose and filled the camper. Worked really good until the compressor burned up. It was a cheap one form Walmart. Since I'm HDT now strap 2 barrels down to the bed and use the trucks air to push water out. I am wanting to hook up an RV pump to it. Then I can hook the hose into the city water connection. It should work the same as pulling from the camper water tank. Second pic is of me testing it the first time I put it together. I was surprised how well it pushed the water with just air pressure from a cheap compressor.
  18. I slid the factory 5th wheel mounting brackets back to where the frame angles off. This required some drilling. Then I mounted a 3/4 inch plate to that. Then just bolted the Comfort Ride down to that. My old camper rode a little nose high. My new one has plenty of adjustment to get it level.
  19. Do not tell my wife about this lift. Mother in law said she cant travel with us anymore because it too hard to get in the truck.😉
  20. Its easier to buy a truck that has windows in it already. I recently ordered a 2021 KW t800 for the farm. It only cost a few hundred bucks to add 3 sleeper windows. If you are buying a used truck you will have to look a little harder to find one that had all the options you want. Fleet trucks are plain like my Freightliner Columbia. I had to add windows my self. Its not too bad a job. It sounds like you are good with your hands. You should have no problem doing it yourself. As far as the 5thwheel is concerned I have seen some people add a RV 5thwheel behind the commercial 5th wheel. They just remove it when they are working.
  21. Not much you can do with them old internationals. They are just work trucks pain and simple. Not made for comfort. We have a 4900 with a stock box on the back. DT 466 and 7 speed spicer. She rides a lot better with 30 head of 7 weight heifers on the back. Still about 60 mph top speed on flat ground with a tail wind.
  22. Ive had 2 trucks with fairings. All they are good for is to break and get in the way when you want to work on something. Oh you want battery access? HAHA you have to take 6 rusted bolts out of this expensive fiberglass. NOPE. Well that was a Kenworth t600. Maybe Volvo is different.
  23. What are you looking for. I currently have a Peterbilt for sale. 2007 pre emissions. just under 50,000 miles on factory reman C-15 cat 6NZ with 18 speed.
  24. I posted this on Facebook also but we all know the real "experts" are over here. I had the truck and camper in the shop for over a week doing maintenance on the camper. Yesterday morning I started the truck and pulled it out to unhook the camper and bring the truck back in. I put my truck on the lift to change oil. When I walked under it I smelled rotten eggs. The battery on the far right was very hot. I immediately disconnected It.Yea I knew the batteries were mismatched when I got it but I forgot. The odd ball one is from 17. The other 3 are 12. That tells me the last owner had one go bad and just replaced one. It's a safe bet the other 2 will be dieing soon. I will be installing 4 new ones later this week. Alliance brand from Freightliner on sale right now for $79. One of my coworkers said he was in the shop over the weekend. When he walked by my truck he thought he smelled something wierd bit dismissed it because it had been there for a week already and had not been running. I did have the camper plugged in. I also have the hot wire hooked up through the Jackalope to the trailer plug to charge the camper batteries when the engine is running. I wonder if it back fed from the camper to truck and overcharged the batteries.
  25. $139 a month seems pretty high. I have state farm. We just purchased a trailer in your price range and I want to say its only like $50 a month. Maybe its higher because you full time?
