  1. Kirk caused me to go back are re-read the original question. He asked "through Escapees" can I obtain a FL driver license without owning a vehicle?

    Myth Busters

The vinegar method is very old, long before Naval Jelly and like chemicals were invented. Left exposed to vinegar "fumes' long enough, it does actually erode the teeth enough on the tips to sharpen them.

Myth or Truth, You can sharpen a file with vinegar? No fair using a search engine.

Our jack-xxx saw in the shop had a cam that slightly lifted the blade for the return stroke. Our blades didn't last long sawing the brake-die steel to length. It arrived already heat-treated to RC20. But with mild steel you're right the blades lasted a long time.
  5. To find a nearby RV tech, try here: It's on you to ask the right questions about training, experience, knowledge, etc. mobile mechanics https://camperfaqs.com/mobile-rv-repair https://rvtaa.org/locate/ https://nrvta.com/ https://nrvia.org/
  6. Paying in cash; Last spring I had the crown of a huge red oak 85' tall near my house cut off. The business owner said he preferred cash. I don't know what he meant, but he was quite taken-back when I counted out 20 one-hundred dollar bills into his hand. As to what others do, I have enough trouble minding my affairs.
  7. Unfortunately nearly all electronic stuff is made off-shore today. I had to replace the caps for my basement heat pump, everything is made in China, so I extended leads and placed caps where they are easy and convenient to replace, plus in a fire-resistant metal box.
  8. Yes a safe is fireproof, as Kirk said, within the limits the mfgr. sets. However, paper contents will be black ash. As to the recent adding a surcharge for using a CC. Friday night CBS did s segment about this very thing happening across the U.S.A.
  9. Didn't this happen about 10 years ago too? No physical address where you reside =closed accounts.
  10. Here in Indiana some businesses add a surcharge for using a CC onto the total bill. You don't know it until you read the receipt unless they have a sign posted stating such. IMO, their intent is to reclaim that % cashback for themselves.
  11. Todays small business trend of charging an additional 3-3.5% for using a CC is changing how DW and I spend. We used to do like Kirk explained, now we also carry enough hard cash to get us through a full day of avoiding the add-on % for using a CC; otherwise we still use our Discover Card, which is good everywhere just as long as I call and advise them where to expect to see CC use when traveling, otherwise Discover locks my card.
  12. You're right of course, but the SST pans that are magnetic is the cheaper grades containing carbon, and thus will rust/corrode over time. While on the subject, SST knives are not a good choice, it will not sharpen or hold a sharp edge nearly as well as heat-treated high-carbon steel. (retired tool N die maker)
  13. Right, just like the vast majority of other water hoses. I have however left it pressurized for about ½ a day in summer sun without harm. I did that while still under warranty and within the Amazon return period just to insure it would withstand my 110# home water pressure under hot sun. Like I said my only complaint is when wet it's like trying to carry a handful of wet spaghetti.
  14. Thanks for the information Gary; if we were physically able to travel by other than our MH, I'd jump at the opportunity.
  15. They are SST, BUT, they have a ferrous iron bottom clad with SST. The only difference of others is, they are aluminum-clad ferrous iron. True SST is not magnetic. One downside to SST cookware is it isn't non-stick. I bought a set when I was living alone, I think I scrubbed more pots N pans than I did the rest of my life. I prefer cast iron, but it has downsides that offset the benefits.
  16. You can buy an HDMI extension cable, so yes you can position a firestik closer to a window when necessary. However, the a longer extension cable (50') will result in some signal loss if an amplifier is not used. Both are available on Amazon.
  17. Now some of these hoses can be purchased with a 600# burst strength. I use one around my house regularly_well, in warm weather; and the add is right it doesn't kink but you can tie in a knot and still have water flow.. It's available in 25,50,75, and 100' lengths, IMO the 50' hose is just right, but if you prefer, buy 2 25' hoses, as normally a 25' is all I usually need. My 50' is light and easy to store, but when wet it's like trying to carry a handful of spaghetti. The copperbullet is old technology though,The BionicFlex hose only changes from flat to round without increasing in size. It has Stainless Steel ends and the box was marked drinking water safe.
  18. Good price! I wish I could use it, but my J-port under the MH dash hasn't worked since I bought the MH. Cummins Great Plains said it would cost over $1,000 to trace the wiring back to the ECM to locate the problem, so I forgot about it.

    New truck

Kirk is right, the only need for a CDL is when driving for profit or gain. Plus, a CDL comes with restrictions.
  20. Kirk I thank you for the explanation of the bill.
  21. I read in your other post you have solved this problem.
  22. Good deal! Sadly I'm in Indiana, MH in body shop. Shipping would be a deal breaker.

    Myth Busters

False. Tire pressure depends on GAWR.
  24. Wait_ married the doctor. Just kidding, that's the way I read it though. One does not think of life without vision, until you begin having issues, then often it's too late. My dad and I and a neighbor were rabbit hunting and dads gun barrel hit a small thorn tree branch, the branch flipped off the barrel and a thorn hit dads right eye. Well, his generation seldom went to a Dr. so he didn't even though his eye was watering severely. By the time he realized he was having vision problems and went to an eye Dr. it was too late, all the fluid had leaked out of his eye, About 15 years later he began to see shadows with his left eye so returned to that eye DR. Well, the Dr decided if dad had eye surgery it might help; but the surgery made him permanently blind, plus it got infected. That resulted in the eye being removed and a glass eye inserted. All that because dad refused to go to the Dr. as soon as we got home from hunting.
