  1. Lots of companies and owner/operators bought to put a remanufactured pre-emissions engine in for reliability and less service cost. Fitzgeralds was a leader in manufacturing these trucks. Many of us toured their facility and it was a first class operation. No future it seems now after they deplete their current inventory. They would take old Detroit, Cummins, and some Cats and remanufacture to better than new engines.
  2. Just saw a video saying as of July 1 glider kits will no longer be manufactured by HDT manufacturers. Fitzgeralds apparently tried to fight it in court but lost. Another company down the tubes. Wonder if they’ll reinvent themselves in another way?
  3. Let’s see $50 to weigh, $5000 for leak detection. Any takers? 😂
  4. I used to spray with white lithium grease, made a white gooey mess. Now I put on a vinyl glove and have a jar of marine axle grease I smear everywhere on jaws etc. Now I have a bluish black gooey mess 😜. BTW word of caution, don’t hit your head on the trailer pin or it will make your Brylcreem days seem like child’s play. Don’t ask me how I know.
  5. Thanks for posting Randy.
  6. David Dixon was going to post the schematic on the ECR website. Let me check on that. If not I’ll see if I can find my copy and post here.
  7. Yeah, but Jim, a drop in the bucket for a top 1%er like you, lol 😂
  8. Damn Darryl, I’m becoming Phil 2 saying you’re right. At least with a truck and trailer you have a place to stay and usually transportation (smart or other) while repairs are made. Can you imagine a month in a hotel? $$$.
  9. Again, some of the newer trailers have a touch pad lock with a keyed backup. Those keys are keyed differently for each lock, but I’m betting my key would probably open another pad somewhere out there, just not everyone. My protection from intrusion when I’m occupying the trailer is not the lock, it’s inside my trailer if you catch my drift. 😉
  10. Some of the newer trailers have latch locks with a “semi unique” key. My previous DRV had barrel locks with a unique key (put on by previous owner). In reality if someone wants to steal from your basement I’d rather have them open with a 751 than pry open with a crowbar. You might have noticed those doors aren’t really much of a challenge for a thief.
  11. Mark has a Travel Supreme I believe.😊
  12. Gosh hate to agree with Phil, but Daryl is right, lol. Depends on location. I’m in Tennessee and fairly easy to register as MH. Insurance is another issue. Still available but may get harder over time. Birdman makes a good point. If you never see yourself pulling a large heavy trailer, then a Superduty should fill the bill and also give you a daily driver. If you even contemplate that you will be going longer, heavier in future then class 7 or 8 is a better choice IMHO.
  13. Randy, Best of luck with the surgery my friend. Will keep you in our prayers.
  14. As John said. Look under Federal Motorhome Guidelines here as a start. You only need four. http://www.hhrvresource.com/node/18
  15. Rocky, I’m with GeorgiaHybrid on this one. The Davco check valve is just a spring and plastic ball that leaks over time. I carry a spare kit somewhere in my truck. You can just google Davco check valve and it shows location and how to change. Good luck buddy.
  16. Please indulge me so I can learn. In this case no codes were thrown. If the ECM was out of tolerance, shouldn’t that be programmed in to throw a code?
  17. Guess I’m just dumb but if it was just a software issue why did it take 13 years to show up?
  18. Al, Do you have a cubby under you bed? If so I would mount it there. Short run from inverter and easy access. You don’t really need to see it all the time do you? If you do consider upper cab wall behind drivers head.
  19. Hopefully someone will reply and help. I’m clueless.
  20. Darryl, Maybe GeorgiaHybrid will chime in on our “1/2 hour” sensor change. Twelve year old plastic is very brittle and crumbles often leaving just the barrel of the sensor stuck in the hole. Mine was a Volvo D12. Hope the Cummins is easier. 😊
  21. What card gives you 10% off? Inquiring minds want to know.
  22. Interesting. About six years ago I spoke with an official of Pilot Corporate in Knoxville (since we lived close) about getting a group discount for us HDT RVers. He was nice but said we weren’t big enough of a fleet and didn’t purchase enough fuel to interest them. Wonder if we are now?
  23. Pete, Where did you get yours titled in TN? Mine was bare frame with 5th wheel already removed but they didn’t even ask about it. Of course that was 10 years ago and I basically had to gather all the info for motorhome registration and teach our county clerk how it was legal. Luckily had a single person in Nashville who I had been working with who gave me his extension to call if any issues. After discussion and info county clerk said no problem.
